break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
(edited by NinjaEd.3946)
Hi, before we begin, I remembered a post basically the same thing as this unfortunatly it is soo far down the pages it probably forgot what the sun looks like. Now the post has one purpose, a thread for the looks/effects of some peoples’ legendary ideas. Many posts about single legendaries, but they focus more on those specifically. I would hopefully like to start a large thread with any and everyone’s idea for legendaries (no matter how bizzare).
To make it a bit more uniform (but format it however you like), place the weapon type, and if it has either on-hit-effects, footsteps, on draw effects, or any combination of the above. That way those reading can get an idea of what you’re thinking without hitting you up on Facebook or w/e the kids use nowadays. For any artists, pictures are awesome (I’ve seen some posts by them and are quite impressive ^^). Now some ideas I’ve had for awhile…
Nightmare Bludgeon[Hammer]: Dark wooden club, wrapped in throny tree vines. Thin around handle, thick towards end.
/////While drawn= Vines will occasionally secrete a black goo.
/////Footsteps= little bunches of twigs at footstep location.
Hearstopper[Dagger]: Blood soaked dagger. Best idea for looks would be along the lines of Malefacterym. Something demonic looking but more blade, less handle.
/////While drawn= Blood drips off the tip, no puddle though.
/////While sheathed= blood still drips off tip.
On-hit-effects= Similar to horror movies where blood will spread out from the point of contact off the blade.
/////Footsteps= Little trickles of blood, but not on footsteps more of just behind where you walk. OR maybe bloody boot prints?
Dead Silence[Pistol]: Flintlock pistol with a silencer attatched. When shot, behaves like a silencer would (quiet pew pew). Would be wooden, with a golden casing and a black, metal silencer at the end.
/////On hit effects= Round pops out the gun and drops making the “ping” sound of metal hitting the ground.
/////When sheathed= Silencer is twisted and compacts to the gun.
/////On draw effects= Silencer unwinds to its longer shape.
/////Sound= Quiet pew pew.
Darkmoon dirk[Dagger]: Glowing moon dagger, model similar to “Moonshank” but instead of half moon at the blade, it is attached on the end of handle in smaller size. Blade is shiny and slightly curved like a small flachion.
/////Consitent effect= a dark purple/blue twinkles mixed with light smoke radiate off the blade. When swinging, a trail of the dark purple/blue twinkle with smoke is left behind.
/////Footsteps= light smoke footsteps.
Maelstrom Blade[Sword]: Blade made of dark colored rock. Leather strapped handle with a tassle on the end and looks very old.
/////When sheathed= Just a cool handle. no blade is present.
/////When drawn= Rocks from below (regardless of you being on a bridge or w/e) fly up and form the blade.
/////Footsteps= Cracks in the ground where you walk.
Echo producer[Mace]: Ball and chain with a red glow along with various symbols glowing red around the ball. Handle is slightly bent at various places suggesting it hits hard (just for looks). When swinging, the ball will move fast enough as it look like it is hitting the target instead of an invisible mace head.
/////On-hit-effects= thin wave of energy from the location of the ball hitting target. Wave moves and disipates quickly. Critical strikes thicken the wave of energy.
/////When sheathed= Ball magnetizes to the handle.
/////Footsteps= pieces of dirt fly up from your footsteps, likely magnetic bits of dust.
/////Sound= Just think Grav hammer from Halo.. make similar, but different sound. Don’t want Microsoft sueing anyone :s
POST YOUR OWN ^^
(edited by NinjaEd.3946)
Leopard Bow[Longbow]: Bow wrapped in animal skin that will adjust it’s color according to the type of region you’re in. (Snow=white tiger; Grass=lighter grey with darker grey stripes; rocks/stone=tan with dark spots)
/////on-kill-effects= roar of a feline (either cougar growl, or lion roar. something intimidating)
/////while sheather= bow is blended into your armor
Gem Wall[Shield]: Old shield made of grey/green stone with various gems aroudn the brim and a large gem in the center. Gems will change colors in a circle from red-yellow-green-blue-violet-back to red.
/////Footsteps= mirror liquid refelcting the scenery of the town/people/objects.
/////on-block-effects= gems will flash the current color.
Storm Cane[Staff]: Engraved wooden staff with curves at 2 spots. The head of the staff splits into 3 holdings with a strange orb in the center which will generate various weather effects around it accoriding to where you are(around the staff head, not around you or the area around you).
[When it rains= storm cloud with small lightning shooting out every now and then with a sound of quiet thunder]
[When in snow= piece of ice forms at orb and snow swirls around it]
[In heated areas (caves, volcanoes, factories): orb will glow hot red and heat waves will radiate from it.
[In plains/grasslands: the orb will have a mini tornado swirl around it with little debry flying out.]
Achairc Rod[Scepter]: White gold handle with golden feather wings with 3 floating white orbs at the end of the rod in an arch.
/////When sheathed= the white orbs go inside the center of the scepter head through a shining hole.
/////When drawn= the white orbs fly out of the hole into their arch formation.
/////Footsteps= bright rays or light from mirros in the ground. (ray distance is minor and shimmers)
I don’t think we need more legendary’s on the market, I would just like to see legendary’s have different stats available on them besides the generic

I beg to differ. As an Engineer all I can use are the shield, rifle and pistol. Shield does not fit the Engineer at all (more a Guardian thing), the Pistol is a joke, probably intended, but it looks incredibly silly and the Rifle is a Sniper, but we Engineers use it as a Shotgun again: looks silly. Plus I also don’t use Rifles so my only option would be the Pistol which looks ridiculous.

So you’re complaint is cosmetic to where I am complain about useless stats….. Hmm great Priority there. I am just saying lets fix the useless stat issue ( which I would feel be more beneficial to any player) before we fix how something cosmetically looks and adding more cosmetic weapons with useless stats to every build minus mitigation builds.
I could be wrong as I do not own a legendary yet, but can’t you use a transmutation stone to change the stats?

You can but it removes the legendary tag from it, there for you would just have a exotic with a legendary skin.
Who cares about the tag, no one compliments you for a little phrase. They compliment you for having a sick nasty skin, and will ask questions like, “How’d you get the precursor?” or “How was it getting those clovers?”. Like you said, it keeps the skin therefore you can keep looking shiny (although too many people already have legendary skins so, hardly unique).
And FYI, the post is more aimed towards skin ideas, not how legendaries work, or whether or not they should offer better stats. Nor does it ask for new ways to get legendaries although many of these other topics are of concern.
Now if someone really, REALLY wants that tag, then thats of concern about transmutation and not stats.

Well honestly I just made my sword ( Bolt ) and Shield ( Flameseeker ) and not one person has asked me how I got it, namely because you can buy the Weapons on TP which only makes the legendary less unique from the start. Personally the stats on both sword and shield work well for my Mitigation Guardian so I had no need to change them and I am very proud to have that medal. I will probably not get any other legendary weapons now as they have no statistical value for me to get them. I think the Ideals of TP legendary’s are just making the very Ideal of having them no better than Heroic raiding gear in wow, when 70% if not more have the items they mean nothing to flaunt.
Definitly agree that the sellable legendaries is breaking the game a bit. Not only does it offer botters an insane income if they make 1, it just promotes “pay to win” since end-game is all about title’s and skins. Should not be able to buy the most “unique” skins in any way, the fact that almost the entire process requires a grind for sp, karma, badges, or coin is already depressing. But still, this isn’t the topic. There are many issues with them, but until they are resolved some nice ideas can come together maybe make the next upcoming legendary weapon skin^^
^ Ignoring all previous posts that deviate from the topic:
Ragnarock: Shield that consists of moving and shifting rocks
Hades: Torch that spews black flames
Grenth’s Claw: Staff, shaped like scythe, has darkness flowing around it
Rising Sun: Longbow, shoots arrows that glow, the bow radiates
Lyssa’s Dream: Staff, the two beings in Lyssa shaped to form the staff, natural purple glow
Just some basic Ideas
Great sword of the gem store.
Description:
Coin roll handle and dollar sign blade.
Effects: Gold/silver/copper trickles off the blade also leaves money bag footprints.
Fire Dragon Sword (Sword)
the blade looks like a dragons wing or something that looks more cool.
Effect when drawn: fire around your body which can be toggled on or off when ever you want. but am not sure what the footprint should look like or should it even have one

Ha! very clever lol. Nothing like throwing money at the enemy XD
A couple of legendary weapon ideas, based on profession.
Grenth’s Judgement (Staff): Necromancer themed. It is a scythe that has ornate death motifs and an unnatural-looking blade. When living enemies die from this weapon, it absorbs their souls for visual effect. Final Rest could be a possible precursor for this weapon.
Flintlock (Pistol): Engineer themed. A very ornate steampunk pistol that looks very similar to this, or maybe this. It fires a focused laser beam instead of the regular gunfire. Precursor is named Matchlock.

Isn’t that the whole point: looks? Legendaries are there to be shiny and impress people by looks.
Definitly agree that the sellable legendaries is breaking the game a bit. Pay to win? Pay to win implies that if you spend money, REAL LIFE money, you are better than someone gear/statwise. Legendaries don’t really have that much better stats, plus most people buy mats anyway, so buying a legendary isn’t all that crazy of an idea. It’s a choice someone makes: buying a legendary instead of ‘farming’ it themselves. It is by no means pay to win, not even close.

I apologize for using it out of context, but endgame for GW2 is all about looking cool or unique. So being able to buy a legendary, althought not that unique, does feel like “pay to win”.
Lets say you worked on a legendary for weeks, maybe even months. You finally get that shiny piece and feel you accomplished something. The tp allows the full purchase of one of these “legendaries” and now you feel like money excels over time invested. Thats my point. Some skins are w/e, buy them because they arn’t really exotic or awesome. But legendaries, they should be worked for till the very end. Still, the post is about legendary skins so I apologize for any inaccurate posts earlier on but try to post some fun/cool skin ideas for future legendaries.
The OP created this thread for the ideas of new legendaries, not the philosophy of one. Please respect thatband only post to contribute.
Burning Passion: Focus, Necklace look, has flames that change color to fit those of emotions
Deep Darkness: Opposite of Infinite Lifght, a blade filled with darkness
Crecent Calling: Staff, with a crecent moon atop it, glows and spreads sparkles as you walk
I just had another legendary:
Twin Barrel Shout[Rifle]: Doube barrel shotgun with a dragon insignia around it’s top and made of cast iron metal.
/////on-hit-effects= steam smoke behind barrel.
/////footprints= giant footprints (like in mud)
/////When sheathed= steam smokes out of it occasially (fits more engineer professions sinc they have no real “shotgun” based rifle thats legendary.

True. I was VERY surprised they were not character or even account bound to be honest (they kinda should be, but whatever)
[edit] I’m impressed with what I came up with to such an extent that I’m going to write something for each type of weapon. I’ll make a topic about it and see if peopple want to try drawing any of them.
Horns: Valhalla and Acheron
These two horns have light and dark effects similar to Dawn and Twilight greatswords, however they are animated as gilded cornucopias with feathered or bat-like wings gracefully wrapped along the side; one a bright and shining light gold, while the other is a dark, sinister hematite silver. When the horns are dormant at the wielder’s side, their openings merely show the insides of the horns, as if they were normal.
When then horns are drawn, their mouths are covered by a rip in space, that when viewed closely from the front shows either a distant paradise of fountains and marble pillars and arches, while the occasional bird or butterfly passes (Valhalla), or grim river of darkness in a grisly bone cave with dim white lanterns floating in the air (Acheron).
When Valhalla is blown, the sound is reminiscent of a strong and optimistic battle horn, with the tittering of songbirds in its echo. It releases a heavenly swirling light in the stead of the usual animation and a few tiny feathers will float slowly towards the ground before vanishing. In idle, a constant white-gold glow emanates from the rift.
Tag: “When a warrior dies in honor, the Valkyries will carry him to paradise. It is said these horns are used by the Valkyrie to move between the worlds.”
When Acheron is blown, the sounds is low, and sad, like a grand funeral bell. It hangs in the air and then withers away with the moaning of a distant soul in the darkness beyond its mouth. It releases a shadowed miasma that attempts to cover the user while a blackened skeletal hand reaches out, grips the edge of the dimensional tear. But at the end of the tone, the miasma and the grasping soul are sucked back into the mouth of the horn.
Tag: “Acheron, the river of Pain. Upon reaching the underworld a soul is judged. Acheron leads to Tartarus, where punishment awaits.”

I think this is the right place to post. This is nothing new i am sure but….
Legendary weapons should be account bound even after equipped. After all the hard work and time spend to gather everything needed i dont understand why it has to be soulbound on equip.
It should be also account bound on craft because some of the gifts needed are not trade-able and come from personal work (like Gift of exploration) so you cant sell it.
I am not 100% sure about the last one but i dont like the idea of being able to buy it if you cant buy all the materials needed to craft it also.
Something I noticed in game, is a lot of people already have legendaries (no I’m not about to start talking about the aquisition of them). It’s no body’s fault, but soo many people just have the same legendary, hardly feels unique. It takes time to put together these skins, but if they released tons of legendary skins over time you would see soo much color and diversity, maybe skin X for a sword suits certain players over skin Y for sword. Aquisition, and skin variety are what incentirves there should be for making a legendary and let people find their own unique snowflake in the mystic forge.
P.S. These skin ideas are awesome! Keep em coming
The same twilight greatsword but …very small …. a twilight dagger
Shadow’s Fang
Weapon Type: Dagger
Lore
This is the dagger wielded by the infamous Shadow, a Luxon assassin of great renown. Shadow went missing after completing his final mission, and neither him, nor this dagger, was seen again.
The dagger was created back in a time when assassins couldn’t freely move in and out of sight, so these were created and enchanted to aid them in this.
Aesthetics:
Drawing the dagger causes an explosion of shadow. When the smoke clears, the wielder has a hood and cloak made of shadow, that has the same physics as a real cloak (i.e. running forward will cause it to billow behind, while jumping will cause it to billow up).
The dagger itself will have a dark aura that grows when in combat, giving the illusion that the blades have extended.
Footprints will be wisps of smoke trailing upwards.

The Unending Bureaucrat [Staff]: A very plain, prim, proper straight staff, topped with a skull wearing officious round spectacles.
////Drawing the staff causes an explosion of paperwork!
////While drawn= forms float into existence around the wielder and gently settle on the ground.
/////Footsteps= documents, forms, paperwork (including a 27B/6).
Voodoo Mathematics [Torch]: A torch in the shape of a number 1.
////Drawing the Torch causes fiery numbers and mathematical symbols to spring from the ground at the user’s feet.
////While drawn= Smokey numbers and mathematical symbols appear in the air around the user.
////Footsteps= Fiery numbers and mathematical symbols.

[Master of Magic] An elementalist themed staff. It looks like the basic staff skin when sheathed. When unsheathed it reacts depending on what element you are attuned to.
Water: Looks as though it’s made of flowing water,
Fire: Looks like flames in the shape of a staff, moving with the staff leaves a firey trail as though the staff is loosing its shape a little bit.
Earth: Becomes made from floating rocks, your character leaves cracks in the floor when they walk.
Air: Staff looks like it’s made from angry thunder clouds that occasionally make rumbling thunder sounds, lightning crackles around it.
[ Legendary Sword Durandel sword of Roland.]
A white blade with a golden hilt , white flames burst of it when drawn. footstep leave white flames , a chain on the hilt with a small white flame at the end.

But…but…we haven’t got any paladins in this game…
:P
Wack-A-Dredge
soft looking handle with a air blown hammer head. Dyed red and yellow(and w/e else) to match traditional carnival colors.
On-hit-effects: Whoopie cushion sound and the hammer head cruntches in a little every hit.
When stowed: Hammer head defaltes and makes a deflating baloon sound.
The Abomination- Staff made mostly of skeleton, moss, and seeweed (necro themed). Handle is of skeleton legs tied together, staff head is the upper section(downsized to not look off, the legs are much larger/thicker than the head of the staff part) of the skeleton with its arms spread out in a ritual fashion(so elbow bent, forearms facing up/angled up, head angled to the side facing up). Legs have twine wrapped around and the feet waddle on their own on occassion. Whole body of staff is wearing a torn cloth outfit hardly covering the body up.
////When stowed: skeleton upper section goes back into a resting position as it hangs from your back side.
////When drawn: Skeleton upper section rises back up into its ritual fashion position.
////Glowing effects: black smoke radiates from the skeleton’s chest head and hands with a thin white light shining out of them couple inches off.
////Footsteps: swamp smog (dark green).
Essentially large skeleton legs as handle, mini skele torso with arms/head as staff head covered in a worn, torn cloth outfit with some moss/seaweed stuck in various spots. Along with the above glows/effects/animations.
(edited by NinjaEd.3946)
Chaos Seal- Shield with a silver oval with a mirror effect. Periodically the shield front will have a face trying to break free from it and making a faint moaning sound (low enough to not bother those around). The brim is gold with a black lining and it brightens up when the face/hands try to break free.
////When drawn: hands try breaking free from the shield’s front.
////Footsteps: black goo that grows slowly (vanishing shortly)
Daybreaker- Metal pole with an umbrella slice as an axe blade (basically a 2d umbrella for the blade).
////Consistent effect: wind will breeze around the player and sand particles will float by
////footsteps: wet-sand footsteps.
////on-hit-effects: wind breezes in the direction of swing (makes objects like grass and bushes swing and sway, doesn’t extend range of actual hits).
Everlasting lager- Warhorn of a stylish bronze dragon figure surrounding a mug filled with beer
////When stowed: cap seals the mug
////On skill effect: take’s a slug and belching afterwards (count’s towards “drunk” effect).
////footsteps: small puddle of foam.
