Level Caps
I almost have to agree with you with removing levels. In a game like GW2, the only point in a leveling system tied to base stats, and different leveled areas is RPG consistency. That said, I have no idea why you WANT to not be downleveled. What’s the point of playing a game if it takes absolutely no skill? Anet wanted to make their game require thought, as opposed to being rewarded for mindless button pressing in low level areas. Besides, with high level armor it is very hard to die in low level areas.
That is an extremely stupid suggestion that goes against a major design choice in the game.
Adjusting the level cap makes it more realistic. It doesn’t make sense for one person to be able to charge through a mob of npcs and kill them with ease.
This discussion has been there many times already.
You don’t get scaled down completely. You have more skills available, you have more traits and you have better items than a ‘real’ level 5 character when you get downleveled to lvl 5. So you are still more powerfull. With lvl 20, you should need far less attacks than on lvl 5 for mobs, even if you are downleveled to lvl 5.
Otherwise, the downleveling is one of the greatest features of GW2. It keeps areas at least a bit of a challenge all the time. You never truly play alone in GW2, there is always someone around. And if there is a dynamic event around, you participate in, it would be both boring and unfair for the ‘true’ lowlvl players, if you simply plow through the hordes, till the others will neither have something to do, nor would get much of a reward since they cant do anything during the event.
If you dislike it so much, there are 3 possibilties:
1. Go to an area for your level, so you wont get downleveled.
2. Get used to it, it’s one of the biggest features of the game.
3. Have fun in one of the hundred other games where you don’t get downleveled.
GW2 was never about ‘outleveling content’ and that was known pretty much from the start, quite a while ago (far before launch).
oh dear, you bought a game without paying attention to one of the main design choices….no Anet should not change one of the major attractions to the game to accommodate you.
Downscaling is brilliant, but I’d say needs to be made much more harsh, right now you can still massively over power enemies in lower level zones. Downscaling should be made harsher so the lower level zones are an equal challenge to when you went though at the appropraite level.
