Living Stories to me are nothing but a mask to generate profit from this game. Create content just to remove it a few weeks later, leave players that didn’t play much with a broken quest line, introduce the event’s “special” RNG box, rinse and repeat.

I feel the whole Living Sotry thing is also a mask. It genreates a sense of urgancey. “Hurry and get this done before the time is up or you’ll miss out. Also buy these limited time items before you miss out!”
It’s a mask alright. Using a sense of urgancy to cover shallow content.

I Wonder, if Anet even realizes that such a helpful thing is in their forums. I have played a lot of guild wars and I know these things will help it.

>generalizations< (fixed that for you)

Generalization = American spelling
Generalisation = British spelling.

Speaking as a casual gamer here, I agree that there needs to be more permanent content. The living story events sound really interesting (Haven’t had much time to play gw2 so i’ve missed everything past and including the winter event except for part three of the frost and flames living story, so even then the story seemed a bit clunky to me) so i can’t give any insight on what is shallow and what is needed. But here’s what could be done:

Reading up on the past few events, they got one event right, the Karka event. While I’m not saying adding new zones is a must for every new event, it would be nice to have a few more areas open up as well. But what happened after the Karka event was an entire new zone, filled with new enemies and new dynamic quests.

Now since then, there has been the molten alliance from frost and flame and there are the skypirate upcoming next event. A good solution would be to have the remnants of the molten alliance try to strike back at the good citizens of tyria, removing some old dynamic quests in their place and putting in new ones in the relevant areas and even in not so relevant areas. The molten alliance could easily have made a headquarters in or around the volcano near the south of tyria, bringing a literal meaning to the molten alliance. The sky pirates could potentially be grounded (or not, doesn’t relaly matter) as they stick to areas closer to the sea, inhabited by the hylek and quaggans while also potentially bringing the largos to shore, as the pirates could interrupt largos assassinations as well. Again, these would be old areas with old dynamic quests removed and new ones more relevant to the living story. By doing that, you get the temporary content and the bigger part of the story there, you have the permanent content through new additions into the world and even potentially new dungeons.

taking my previous example of the volcano, a new dungeon could be made where the molten alliance has taken residence within and players should destroy them (areas could suddenly be flooded with lava, having players take continuous damage while standing in the lava, dynamic events within dungeons), and the after dungeons could be having the molten alliance fractured, where one path deals with the flame legion, another leads to the dredge and the third could see an insurge of destroyers, irritated by the presence of the once molten alliance and story wise this underground battle could cause the volcano to erupt (if the volcano is dormant, then the destroyer presence could reawaken the volcano).

Just a few ideas.

Yeah, I agree with this guy. I never played WoW, but really the party system is a joke. There is NO benefit to partying, except killing things faster, and you could stalk a random-er in the same area for that. The game is just too easy at the moment.

Always good to hear more ideas. I assumed after release we’d see more dynamic events added to maps over time and still wonder why this hasn’t been the case.

The temporary content is filler content while more permanent content is being designed. They take a small team to make this stuff and give people stuff to do.

Blizzard was a bigger company when WoW launched than Anet is now. Let’s not belabor the fact that WoW came off of great success with Warcraft and had tons of money not only to advertise, but with the monthly fee, to expand. And it came out in a time slot with FAR less competition. It’s a whole different story today.

Games have less players, because there are more options. Even WoW lost 1.7 million subs in a relatively short time. It’s tough these days.

So we need content to keep people logging in (which works) and we need permanent content which is being worked on.

Being a smaller company it’s not going to make permanent content as fast. But taking the small team off the temporary stuff won’t necessarily make permanent content much faster.

Rift did the same thing. Until the expansion came out, they kept people busy with temporary content…and it worked.

I’m not sure abandoning the temporary content is going to help the game at all.

The risk vs. reward thing is something Anet does need to look into.

Hello,
What about a new system? With Normal level dungeons and Elite level dungeons?
The normal tokens → Normal Armor, Weapons etc
The Elite dungeon tokens → Elite armor ( More cool skin etc ) , Elite weapons.
We had also in gw1 Elite armor, so why not in gw2? The thing what is most irritating in my opinion is that everyone have the same armor, cuz dungeon armors are easy to get, and so is the culture armor. There need to be some " exclusive " armor what is hard to get.

World Drops
I think World drops can help also alot, because of the exclusivity. For example: There will be launched a new dungeon, and the endboss of that dungeon can drop a exotic weapon ( people will now farming this boss because of the exotic weapon and not the money what the reward will give, i think this will improve the gameplay), and maybe as reward for completing the dungeon , some RNG?

I agree, content needs to be permanent (even made a suggestion about it, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Stop-adding-TEMPORARY-content/first

Content that is not hard is just a chore. So true. All the achievements are grindy based not difficulty based. The only thing on the achievements list that is hard to do is the jumping puzzles. Everything else is a boring grind.

Dragons. Stand still and spam = I’m sleeping (basically all meta events)

Dungeons…. easy, set a difficulty with higher rewards for more difficult content (Maybe you should be more like Arenet’s Guild Wars 1 with the “Hard Mode”. Oh right, you ARE Anet, way to stoop to the low end.

Kaboose…. You’ve made some good videos and some crappy ones.
The crappy ones are the ones in which you use too much emotion with that female partner of yours.
Why?
Well, with your accent and strong emotional stress on words, it’s very difficult to understand you, also to mention you talk very fast, same thing with the female. I’m still wondering what she said / asked and you’ve already moved on to the next question. Slow it down, stop being too dramatic. What you’re saying is good, how you’re saying it… needs to be worked on. This video was more of a rage and so on that i’d only rate it 2/5. Obviously you’re going to get criticism, deal with it maturely.
If you focused on the game(s) and not “Oh fanboy this, oh fan boy that QQ , TT” I would have given the video a 5/5.

It seems from your comments you’re trying to say actual things, but since you start off as if you’re already addressing “fanbois” and judging the game shallow within your definition of their view of the game, it’s hard to tell what you intend. It’s like you want to make a serious feedback video but your sense of humour gets in the way.

Kaaboose, every video you’ve made on GW2 has been absolutely spot on and I have a lot of respect for that.

However, your arrogantly sarcastic, kittenhead attitude is extremely abrasive. You’d garner much more respect and get many more shares if you weren’t acting like a total kittening kitten.

Cheers for the GW2 commentary, hopefully if you ever come back you’ll have calmed down and learned to respect your audience.

Hello,

While we can understand the need to make comparisons, please note that Guild Wars 2 and Word of Warcraft are two different games. Furthermore, the forums are intended to discuss about Guild Wars 2, and not other games.

This thread is now closed. Thank you for your understanding.
