If you playing with a Norn or Charr the jumping puzzles can be ridiculously frustrating and this mostly because of the camera. I have recently started playing as an Asuran and what jumping puzzles I have done seem to be much easier.

I’m pretty ok with the difficulty as such, but I there are some great puzzles which get destroyed by the awful camera in tiny spaces (lions arch, trolls end.. such a great idea with the overlapping paths)

one of the ‘perfect’ examples would be the branded mine:
- nearly no camera issues (the shaking is intentional and as such ok)
- multiple paths to confuse you, all seem viable at the beginning
- the first time you see the inside of the mine you just think ‘oh god!’ upon seeing all the possibly jumpable stuff ;-)

sharkmaw also is great, especially with the dialogue. in one of my many runs I accidentally fell just before reaching the darkroom there. I had to redo the whole puzzle. seemed a bit overkill, a checkpoint would be fine there.

dying in a puzzle as a way to force a start from the beginning is ok imo. not being ressed at the start after dying isn’t (especially if you have to die to get the achievement, stupid pirates g). waypointing is way to expensive (and some puzzles are a bit far off), it’s really immersion breaking if you’re doing a puzzle, die and have to run across half the map again to get there.

for the longer puzzles checkpoints are a good option.. and there are a few puzzles where a checkpoint or two would be a good idea. unfortunately most puzzles are rather short and as such checkpoint’s aren’t necessary. a good implementation of this without even using checkpoints can be found in the sparkfly fen inquest lab (northwest). the puzzle doesn’t award an achievement, but ofc I still did it. its all in the same room but you have to go 3 different ways to find some switches and afterwards get to the chest (and the obligatory veteran). the jumping passages aren’t that long by themself (thus falling doesn’t punish you severely), but together they form a nice and quite extensive puzzle.

Some puzzles like the one in the Eternal Battlegrounds even without thief gankers is annoying enough – perhaps one of the few jumping puzzles in the game right now that seriously annoys me.

One of the Best Features of GW2
My friends and I love the jumping puzzles. These are perhaps one of the strongest elements in the game imho. Personally I think they are fine and I hope to see more added.

Rooted In MMO History
People would do this in other mmo’s to kill time waiting for raid logistics to work out or to just see if you could climb something. It is so awesome to see this type of adventure built into the game, I hope it spreads to other titles.

Add First Person Camera
The main issue I have with puzzles is not the puzzles themselves but the decision to have no first person camera view. Add a first person camera view, the camera is crazy annoying currently, even for just looking off of vistas let alone tight combat areas or small puzzle areas.

All the jumping puzzles I’ve done have been relatively easy. EB puzzle takes me about 10 mins if I don’t get hindered by any invaders. Troll’s End has been the most annoying one, only because of camera issues.

This is a non-issue. The jumping puzzles are at the right level of difficulty. Yes, it’s frustrating and difficult at times….but get over it. The game would be for 5 year olds, if it had no challenge. Learn to challenge yourself…and get over quitting at the first sign of difficulty. Life is like that……learn to deal with it. How much daddy talk is needed hear to get someone out of their small protected world…lol??

Fun fact, the Fiery Dragon Sword (HoM weapon skin) gives enough light that you can see your way. I’m sure other weapons and skills work as well.

There’s actually torches in that room that you can pick up if you search the floor.

But please ANet, give us better loot. Doesn’t have to be THE BEST, but, better would be nice.

I completely agree. Actually it doesn’t even have to be strong loot, just give some unique area-specific skins that we can transmute onto our gear.

In regard to Weyandt’s Revenge, I found the torches useless mostly because they have a timer on them. I mostly just waited for the light to blink occasionally…and then used my number 5 skill on rifle engineer which has targetting, and could give me the outlines of the next piece of rock I needed to jump to. I suffered horribly doing it….LOL. I can’t count how many times I missed my jump and had to run back to start again.
