Owlsdottir =/= inappropriate
This censor stuff is so silly. I can’t even make a character after my favourite music theorist. I feel like making a new char. Ana Owkittenottir…. hey… I like it. It’s almost my favourite tree and two adorable animals in one!
“Gerroh” is accepted, but “G E R R O H” is not. It’s a rather… strange filter they’re using.
The filter does ludicrous things. Same with the forum kittenizer; for instance, the word “bad” has been changed to “kitten” when surrounded by “as” in a couple of my posts — such as that’s not as bad as it gets — though this time it snuck past (no doubt on soft little kitten feet).
I think the OP was referring to the ingame naming restriction. I used the kitten reference tithe forums as a joke. The odd combination of “lsd” I don’t think is acceptable in game, but perhaps on the forums. Of the letters in quotes are censored then I’m lying
Ah, yes, I was drawing a parallel by referring to the name issue as “filter” and the forum one as “kittenizer”. I suspect they were coded by the same not-quite-human entity.
It would be amusing if names were subject to kittenization the way the forum is instead of just blocked — and you wouldn’t find out until people asked you why your beefy norn is named Kitten Kitten Kitten.
Is it refused as a drug reference? Owsley maybe? Pretty abstract to anyone who didn’t exist in the San Francisco scene in the 60’s and 70’s or read a particular Tom Wolfe book.
edit: Oh, I see…LSD is in the word. Yeah, that’s a stretch.
Things get a little trippy at the Owl Shrine in Lost Spirits’ Hallow:
“What comes next is an assault on the senses. A flurry of feathers, a scream into the maw of oblivion, a creeping coldness. But one sensation towers over them all—hope.”
…But I swear, no illegal substance was involved with this vision.
