The only equipment skins in the game that cannot be replaced if accidentally deleted or otherwise lost are the ones you choose as part of character creation – guardian Visionary Helms, Necromancer wraith masks, Engineer universal multitool backpacks, etc. Unfortunately, these skins are also the most likely to be lost, due to being on starting equipment which might be replaced/sold before one even hears of transmog stones, or realized that the skins are not re-acquirable.

I suggest one of two solutions:
1) A quick and dirty fix : have the profession trainers in LA sell either these items themselves or “skin” versions of them (like the event skin items).

2) In future storyline quests, add upgraded versions of these items as rewards to select from (ie the standard ‘pick one of three’ storyline reward). This would reward players who managed to hold onto their originals by giving them the chance to get one of the other item skins in addition.

I want my glowing eyes back, dangit!

There’s a very simple and easy workaround for this, but it will require an open character slot.

Simply create a new character and transmute the skin in question onto a white-quality gear piece. Doing so will make the resulting item Account-bound, even if it was previously Soulbound (as the starting gear pieces in question are). If you’re lacking in basic transmutation stones, completing map exploration for the character’s racial town will grant 3, and takes a matter of minutes.

I don’t believe this workaround is applicable for the Engineer’s multitool backpack, as there are not, to my knowledge, any white-quality back items.

That said, having profession trainers sell skin versions of these items would be nice. It would make it a lot easier to, for example, use the Visionary’s Helm alongside the Fanatic’s Pauldrons, items which match beautifully but which the player is required to chose between.
