firstly, I’m not dead set against the champion boxes, they reward players for taking out harder and more dangerous foes and thus encourage players to kill these enemies rather than ignore them, and provide a source of craft mats, gear for selling/salvaging.
However in their current state they are far too rewarding for zergs of players to farm endlessly until an event fails, endlessly annoying those who are looking for an event to succeed (poi opens up, temple of balth, herb garden etc).

my proposal is to move these drops from the champ in events, and offer them as a reward for completing an event. the result is a system that still rewards zerg trains who move from event to event, but also that rewards smaller groups on less popular servers who might not have a group large enough to trigger champion spawns in events.

this could be adapted to be as versatile as needed, depending on the actual back end systems flexibility, for example offering different loot types depending on the objective or difficulty of the event.

I’m reasonably sure someone could point a flaw in this argument, but without getting it out there, I personally am at a loss to see how this could be a negative thing, as it wouldn’t discourage zerging, as it would potentially still offer the best gold/time output, but would provide a reasonable reward carrot to those more reward-orientated players to participate in events in less crowded areas.

so GW2 community, whaddaya think?

I like it for certain events. Like opening temples. ANet would have to find a way to give you a point system, so when you would get a champ box, you get that many event boxes at the end. And then find a way to balance it in a loss vs win
