Except the Events in Orr aren’t hard (with the exception of the temples). I think the more common complaint I’ve seen is the amount of CC mobs have.

They’re more of a ‘I need to bring AoE to tag loads to get loot’ that ‘OMG We’re Going To Die!’

There already IS dungeon Solo Play, it’s called PVE. You could even say your story mode is a Solo Dungeon.

The 5 man Dungeon mechanic exists to encourage teams, friends and guilds- To give a reason for it to be an MMO. If you just want to Solo Everything I would question you’re choice in game.

Really? I have yet to get an exotic item from PvE or story mode. Isn’t that interesting… Been playing almost daily for 2 to 5 hours. Many people have questioned my choices but that’s still no excuse for not having solo dungeons. You can deal with all the hassle I’d rather just play. Besides A-net has actually made the Tixx events harder for everyone to enjoy, sarcasm. Why must everything be made more difficult for teams of less than 5?

As new content gets added it will become impossible to find groups of 5 for older content.

MMO does not mean you force people tog roup up. massively multiplayer online game…this simply means that many people are playing the same game in the same world.

Yes, they should simply scale the dungeouns.

Ofcourse the dungeouns currently are done wrong to begin with. Take a look a TSW dungeoun, THEY did it right…1 or 2 packs of critters and then a boss. Sludging through packs of mobs that drop crap for loot (seriously dungeouns should drop loot on par for the challenge, aka get rid of the bosses not dropping boss worthy loot) is not fun and only makes the grind even more obvious. If running one was a half hour thing, forcing the group would be easy to take. As it stands….it is by no means fun or enjoyable because the grind is obvious and the loot is VASTLY sub-par for a dungeoun.

For the people who play alone and he likes to play alone this system force to find a grup that they only brings this: 1) Go to the waypoint near the dungeon, 2) /map “LFG …. path ….” 3) Do the dungeon rush mode ( of course skip videos and don’t stop to see anything), 4) Finish dungeon /group “Thanks bye”. This is the reality.
Who have people to enjoy a good group ok, but for who likes to play in their own put solo mode.

I think ANet made it so that dungeons can’t be soloed but I agree about the waiting time in forming a decent party which is pretty long sometimes, which makes it discouraging to do in a frequent basis.

I guess if you want solo then you’d need something similar to your personal story missions. Hopefully, ANet adds something similar.

One more argument to make & then I’ll let it go, since A-net doesn’t seem to care. Why are there only 5 party members for dungeons? It’s an MMO there should be, like, 100!

I am for anything that gives customers choice and enjoyment, not this mindless grind BS. Those people that think MMO means “Must group” are as clueless as their belief system. If i want to enjoy a dungeon as a solo player who is anyone to tell me i cannot. Only one group can do that, developers, and that is a choice on their part. Not because they cant do it.

Dungeons should be scalable between 1 or 100, they should be randomized, they should have a number of ways to solve them, not just fighting, they should never be the same way twice, this includes rewards, bosses, mechanics, etc, etc. There are a couple of ways to solve this problem in the short term but the devs are pretty sensitive to critics like myself.

The problem with this is also heavily money related. It is far cheaper to have customers hold each other hands because they do not know any better and because they have been trained by devs over the years (or to new to the genre) to believe that grouping and mindlessly running the same dungeon over and over and over and over is the cool thing to do to be “Hardcore” or “That person or group” . These customers have low standards and believe that developers herding customers through rote action static dungeons is the right way to make a game, let me tell you, it is not.

If the devs had the resources and the imagination and talent, with an emphasis on money, dungeons would be truly spectacular, right now they are the same trash that MMO’s from 20 years ago pumped out.

Only a few of us make the points to show devs this is not the way to continue business as usual. To bad the majority are afraid to band together and force change.

There is no worse feeling than that during an argument, you realize you are wrong.

i donnu about solo mode… however , I would like to see a 2-3 man dungeons or mini … since i usually like to play with friends and its usually hard to have more than 3 available… especially since fractals released… so u have to either wait for a long time or go with randoms.

I can see why people are against it, but with gw2 combat mechanics it’s a pretty cool idea. Personally quite like soloing veteran and champion mobs, but the reward for effort is quite low other than personal satisfaction haha.
There are videos of people soloing path 1 hotw etc. but all before life steal nerfs.

I too want dungeons to be soloable, or at least, to allow us to run a path with less than 4 more people. Give us a chance to be teams of 2 people or 3, for those of us who actually have a few trustworthy friends and want to play just with them.
Went to do CoF path 1 with my friend, only we two. Had to just go out of there at some point, despite we were perfectly managing to kill mobs and go on with ease, if it wasn’t that we had no chance to open the gate without more people. Same for CoE, laser part, AC any path, due to burrows to destroy and stuff to defend, or traps in path 2…and so on, just not going to describe all of them here.
I lost will to play dungeons with random and unknown pugs, because people are simply unable to show any sign of civilization (The most of people, that is) and I am sick of raging for nothing, while playing a game that is supposed to be fun. I am sick of people that just go “Idiots/this team sucks/you suck/noobs” as soon as the slightest thing happens, most of all since they are in the most of cases the noobs that don’t do a right thing during the whole run.
I am fed-up of only hardcore farmers playing dungeons, preventing us from having fun or even watching a cinematic, even that! For what? 2 minutes longer the path would take for letting a person watch them? No thanks. I am not free to enjoy the way I like? I won’t run dungeons anymore, despite I love them and I think they are great content. That’s it.

What I think would be a better idea is to have 2 versions of the dungeons. 1 version would be the current versions. The other version would be open world, all the same content inside, and the bosses would be on a reset timer, and would scale to the number of people fighting the boss. Give different rewards between the 2 versions. Where there would be normally a cut scene in the dungeon, let people have an option to see it after they completed something.

“Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1”- From Manifesto video, yet we lost that ’’freedom’’ of doing dungeons the way we like.
I do understand this is an MMORPG, but GW2 is different compared to other MMORPG’s and thus we interact with players in the world in a different way…that doesn’t mean being anti-social…it gives quite different, yet good feeling. Forced grouping is what I dislike and I like doing things at my own pace and with one or two friends.
I am a great fan of dungeons, but forced grouping really puts me off…
And like Pip said in the post above, normally pugging turns out being bad…I really don’t need that ’’stress’’…I want to enjoy the game fully…
And to be honest, I really feel like exploring dungeons more, rather than speed-running through them because the team demands it…I also want to see the cinematics, admire the dedication devs put into the dungeon…
In GW1 I had this freedom, I had this feeling…I felt like adventuring and venturing into a dangerous, deep, dark dungeon…and it was very rewarding in the end and it gave me that epic feeling, especially when I do it on my own with just heroes.

And people, please…a little understanding here…
Just because we want to enjoy the dungeons at our own pace or with 1-3 friends, that doesn’t mean you have to ’’shoo’’ us to Skyrim or some other games.
I don’t see why would it hurt ANYONE if an option was added to dungeons for those who want to play this way? You can still group up with a team of 5 and enjoy the dungeons just like you are enjoying them now.

I agree. GW2 was/is different than other MMOs. I liked being able to solo or play with just my boyfriend. I think bringing back Heroes for dungeons would be a great way to do it!

I love story. unfortunately, most other members of the party simply wish to skip through cut scenes and combat, often leading to scalding or my death if i do not comply. the ability to go through a dungeon slowly would be glorious from a story view (including the explore and story modes). Doing a dungeon solo would be a gratifying experience, and be especially valuable when other players do not wish to do the dungeon (arah being a prime example :P).

You can not! There are barely 2-3 paths all over the game that does not force you into a 5 men team.

Sorry, but I find it hard to be “social” with elitists who demand gear checks and speedrunners who demand I skip cutscenes.

I don’t want to run dungeons at all, yet I am forced to if I wish to see my personal story through to completion. Stop assuming that solo play = antisocial. It doesn’t. People who want to run dungeons solo would otherwise not run them at all, so it makes absolutely no difference to you whatsoever.

Take the SAB as example. It solved solo and multiplayer very well.

I Play GW1 ALL content and expansion on SOLO, althought it was helped by hero system. So it is possible for Anet to do the same with GW2. it just they won’t

The problem right now, my server is starting to get EMPTY. Its very difficult to find someone that want to do same dungeon in same time, specialy to find non-kitten player. Instead fixing this, Anet add more dungeon!

Look, Anet really need to adress dungeon system. Sometimes i wonder why the dungeon is neccesary with all the dynamic event they have. I mean if they can create the shaterrer boss event, why they cant do it on other new event? The can put the molten boss as world event, and everyone can be happy and feel awesome. (karka is good but they botched it in one time event only)

I think solo dungeon is a must for this game survival, because GW1 survive this long because of instance and solo able possibility.
Its normal for MMO userbase to decline, but the question is.. is it worth to going back? It will be turn off if i back to GW2 five years later and find NOBODY to group for dungeon.
