I agree on every single point you made

“We just don’t want players to grind in GW2.” – Well, I guess you really failed, ANet!
Update 5.9.2013: getting better ANet, still way to go!

I think there is end game for GW2, just very little of it. People want new stuff, this you can do everything up front does not cut it. At level 80, players have already seen the contents. Players want new stuff to keep them busy. They don’t want to go back to previous zones because they want to see new stuff.
I am not worry about the end game as of now, because I am sure Arena net is working hard right now to provide us more end game contents as we speak.
The thing I am worry about is the reward for end game. There has got to be reasons for people to play those end game contents. After I got the Max armors and weapons, there is really no point of farming, because everything I do after this point is basically for various looking armors and weapons, nothing else. I am sure some people are fine with it, but not everyone of them.
I think there are two options that can make end game rewarding much better, one is to add new tiers of armors and weapons(basically more progression), second is to reward players new weapon type and new weapon skills.

GW2 is not meant to be addictive.

You play it until you feel it has ended for you, then you let it be for a while and later when a new content is added you come back and continue. The no monthly fee is the best for this reason. Its a feature that very few to none games have.

If you don’t have other game to play or other better things to do in RL, then you can enjoy the world of GW2 as it is with new characters or with the old one, going in different zones and play together with the new players developing your achievements/titles in the same time. or just chat with people in different zone chat channels.

I don’t understand why people feel forced to play the game. I think the amount of content you have got for a $60 game is more than enough compared to other PC games.

Plinx meta? A bot could run that event chain.

They already do

The biggest problem I see with GW2 endgame compared to GW1 is there is no thought required to do most things in GW2. I have well over 100 skill points on my necromancer main. I run Plinx multiple times a day, but I really don’t know why (what else is there to do besides collect mats to sell on the trade broker). I have no interest in the legendary weapon carrot chase. In GW1 you could spend a huge amount of time capturing elite skills and then designing builds around them. Elites in GW2 are largely pathetic and require no in game activity to acquire (beyond having the number of skill points needed). I also really miss the heroes/henchmen. Acquiring them, building them up and using them in different ways for different things added a significant strategic thinking component to that game that is completely absent in GW2. I think of heroes like a baseball manager does using his/her players in making a lineup to go against a particular team or pitcher. Grouping with other players does not fill that void in any way. Fortunately I like alts so I am now trying all of the other professions, maybe by the time they reach 80 the game will have added something that allows players to think.

Ive read a few things about the heroes/henchmen thing in GW1 and got quite excited that they could possibly make their way to GW2. Chasing elite skills would be cool to as above poster stated they are by the large kinda meh atm.
