Okey im sick of this so im making this topic in hope that someone that can do something about it reads it.
We all know how annoying it is when ppl are chatting in the Map chat for the whole region in their own language, and when you tell them to take it i group or in whisper chats they just pull out the “this is a European server not english only….”
SO PLEASE ! PLEASE !
Put an [Eng] in front of some servers i shouldnt have to loggon to the game and think im on a Polish or Russian server ever day and end up blocking half the server just to transfer to another to have to do the same stuff there AGAIN…

Hate to be the person to break it to you, but this game is international.
You play with people around the world. The client is available in multiple languages. The forums are available in 4 languages. The profanity filter filters MANY languages.
This means:
It was intended and understood by ANet that multiple languages would be spoken on their servers and in their game.
Find a guild that is English speaking only, join it, and stop reading map chat if it’s a problem. They purchased this game and have every right to speak in their native language with others. If it weren’t expected that there would be other languages, then why would they have a multi-language filter.
Just understand and accept that just because YOU speak English, doesn’t mean everyone else is required to.
If you are logging on and seeing specific languages in map chat when you log in, it’s probably due to the TIME you are logging in. Find a server that caters more to people in your game playing time.
If you are in the USA but awake at night, find an oceanic favored server, Aussies and Kiwi’s speak English.
If you have a normal schedule, find a server that caters time zone in English. If you happen to live in an area that shares a time zone with German, or Polish, or Russian, or whatever, then try to find a server that is predominantly English. LIke USA or Oceanic preferred servers. Google is your friend.

The irony being that the OP’s English is haphazard at best.

Thats why i asked for a server with ENG and English is a language that most of the world speak compared to Russian and Polish…
There are servers for FR etc why cant they just make ONE that have the label ENG so we can get some peace from all this 2nd degree language’s…
and i shouldnt be forced to play on US servers when i live i EU..
English is a major language in the world and THAT is why it need its own server…
After all
English is spoken by about 1800 M ppl
Spanish about 500+ M
and French around 500 M.
and if German got its own server thats spoken about 200 M
why cant there be ONE server that have English…
Also i live in sweden so my native language aint English but if i can respect it enough to use a world language
why shouldnt others..
@Schakal.6091
i never claimed to be the best at english but atleast i use it so ppl understand. dont be an kitten you sad kitten

I chose to refrain from any comments about the OP’s language/attitude simply because this is an issue that some people probably do feel needs addressed, and if I am inflammatory, the information could be deleted, preventing others with a similar viewpoint from seeing useful information. I personally have played on foreign games where I speak nothing of the main language so seeing it in games doesn’t bother. However I do understand some people find it frustrating.
Edit: I have changed my stance on the response now :/
I find it hard to believe that someone who speaks a different language natively, would have a problem with multiple languages in chat. Particularly in Europe, where a very large portion of countries regularly use 3+ languages at any given time.

There are US servers for that reason. 99.99% of map chat is in English.

I’m surprised dialects of French and Spanish aren’t higher but i digress. The fact is its an EU server which means that most people are going to be speaking in the language they are most fluent in which is more than likely not English . With that said i don’t see why there couldn’t be an English server so I’ll support the idea

Some people aren’t comfortable with using another language. Their words obviously aren’t addressed to purely English-speaking people. Why should we even bother?
Of course sometimes it’s uncomfortable when the /map is having a lively discussion that I can’t understand, but then again that’s how English appears to some people. I don’t see them complaining, and to be fair they have no less rights for it.

I agree with the OP. I’ve always been confused why there can’t be one or two servers for English only. I’m not saying there should be no international servers, as even if there were English only servers I’d join the international ones because I enjoy playing MMO’s with people from around the world.
Sure, people could use the US servers, but the major flaw in that is timezones. For us, we’d be logging out of the game just when the majority of the US server would be logging in after work so that does not really work tbh.

I personally dont have a problem with people using their own language, It usually happens infequently, and if there is a large group talking in for example Russian, then I have the option of changing my chat filters. If it were to be a regular occurance, then yes it may annoy me, but as I say, it is infrequent…. And as soon as it happens, there is usually a deluge of " Speak English" comments.

I don’t understand why we don’t have English servers. I mean they could just turn 3 or 4 of the ‘european’ servers into English ones, that way people on the european servers can still speak their languages, but people who find it annoying to not understand people on map chat have a place they can go. I mean if german-speaking people get their own servers, why can’t english-speakers?

Maybe you should try learn a new language, might help with
your point of view, OP ^^. English-only speakers tend to get frustrated
about this topic all the time; simply because they don’t understand what’s
being said and they’re too lazy to learn another language ^^. (Normally at least).
However, just out of good manners, people really ought to use the relevant chats
for their conversations. /p, /g & & /s.

Why does everyone who speaks English automatically assume that the only language spoken on French servers is French, or German servers is German? I can guarantee that people speak other languages there too. Those are just the PRIMARY languages, no where is it specified they be the ONLY languages. The same applies for the English servers. Yes English is the primary language, but it’s certainly not the only one!

The problem is, there are a lot of people on the continent who can speak English and who have friends/guild mates who are in other non native tongue countries (including the UK and Ireland) and 2 or 3 English servers would fill up in no time.
The amount of non British/Irish people that do speak English is way higher than those who don’t.

I agree with this wholheartedly. I have no problem with French players playing on German servers, or Spanish players playing on English servers – but being on a server populated by many who don’t speak your language is inconvenient at times.
If they label servers [ENG] and I’m on one, I won’t kick off if I see a player speaking in Spanish – but it’s handy to know that English-speaking players will gravitate towards the server I’m on.

Take into consideration that the EU servers dont just cater for European players, they cater for everyone in similar timezones, including South Africa.
What I fail to understand is why arenanet made country specific servers for some countries but not for others, it doesnt seem to be player number based, (where is UK?)
I dont think there is any 100% english server, although most of the South African guilds got together and overtook Aurora Glade for ourselves as a result the map chat is mostly english, becuase we have 11 national languages, but there is an understanding that english is the language for the internet here.
