So shines a good deed in a naughty world.

I actually made the suggestion, for convenience only, to simply give *all* classes access to any and all weapon sets they want to swap. Slot them out of combat, pick two active sets for people who can, one active set for people who just get one.
Warriors can fill all 19 slots, and change out of combat, Guardians get 12, Rangers, 11, Mesmers and Necromancers, 10, Thieves get 7, Elementalists get 5, and engineers get 3.
Of course, making this convenient service available to everyone and all weapons... that’s a crazy idea compared to giving the convenience of out of extra out of combat weapon sets to *just* the profession with the most weapon skills, and the second least number of sets...
Ok without reading all the posts in this thread, my 2c worth. Ele was great in Gw1. Now levelling an ele in Gw2 and a few points have struck me as very unworkable.
1. Weapon swapping – Need different weapons for different situations.
Staff is good for instances, large WvW battles with its AOE skills yet not for 1v1 encounters or solo running. So when running through a Pve area, there may be times when one needs AOE and others where one wants to avoid it. Even mid battle. So does one have to stop each time and manually open Hero panel to swap? Cause that’s what l find myself doing…very unsatisfactory.
So please, bring back weapon swapping!
2. Trait attributes – Traits locked to one element???
C’mon, if we can’t weapon swap then at least make traits adjustable without having to pay each time.
For example, l was just in Kessex Hills, Dominion zone. I have my few traits in fire. Mobs are Immune to Burning’. Do l have to leave, spend kinah to go to a town, respec traits, go back to do area and SP? Makes no sense.
I loved my ele in Gw1, yet atm l am thinking that this character may not go too far. Certainly in WvW ele’s seem OP, yet so far, compared to my other light armor characters, survivability is bad in fire, and swapping to another element while traits are all in fire for e.g. is not effective. Maybe it gets better at higher levels, she is only going 30 atm.
Ok, Silicon. At level 80, you can have 30/20/20, 30/30/10, 20/15/20/15, or any other spread of traits you want. And even not traited, elementalists still get to swap elements. Even with no water magic traits, with a staff you still heal for a base of 370 on your auto attack while water attuned, and a scepter still does a base of 757 damage (656 from burning, 101 in damage) on auto attack while fire attuned with no points in fire magic.
You really don’t need trait swapping, or weapon swapping to be viable, maybe you should change your playstyle up if you are having trouble.
Out of Combat Weapon Swapping
That’s what people (myself included) are asking for. In combat, yes it would be too much.
Ooc, it sucks.
Moreover, our weapons are all very ‘styled’. You’ll NEVER EVER EVER see a D/D ele at a keep siege, because if you went into combat with D/D you’re screwed. You wont be able to do a kitten thing.
I like to travel with D/D and hit staff for sieges, and having to press H and figure out which staff if the one i want (especially with 8 18 slot bags), can be a total nightmare.
Its totally convenience sure, but it doesnt actually affect combat.
Reasons to not put it in : 0

That said, id prefer the fixed the bugs we have were fixed first
@ Nels, yes, thanks for the info. I’ve just actually done some reading into the class and was going to edit or delete post. However, as Anlyon has said, weapon swapping would still be appreciated to save hard swapping. Not good in WvW to be standing around with Hero panel open trying to weap. swap.
And yes, many other priorities right now to get the game mechanics running smootly. I’m sure this would be well down the list.

Out of Combat Weapon Swapping I agree with, completely, only for everyone. I mean, Sword/warhorn and Axe/axe rangers could use a way to easily swap to that longbow on the road and barrage some enemy trebs. Adding in a system that could benefit everyone in the game, but limiting it to just the third most popular profession is the problem with the OP’s idea.
all other classes already have out of combat weapon swap while ele has none. even swapping attunements is on same cd as in combat. so provinding an ele with ability to swap between primary and secondary weapon outside of combat with just one click, like other classes can, would be much appreciated.
yes please, asap
precisely my point anzi =)
Some easier way to swap weapons outside of combat would be very welcome. When swapping out dagger/dagger for staff, the main hand dagger goes into the staff’s inventory slot, but the off-hand dagger goes into the first available inventory slot (or equipment slot). So when you want to swap back, the off-hand dagger is not in a consistent location. If you have a lot of equipment, this takes some visual scanning through the inventory to find your item. If you have multiple sets of daggers for different situations, it consumes a bit of time and concentration.
It would be nice if we could have an personal weapons inventory container that all equipped items go into when we swap them out. This container would be invisible when selling items.
It would be even more helpful to bind F5-F8 to weapon swaps for the currently active weapon set. Click F5 to swap that weapon set for the current active weapon set. These functions would be disabled immediately when combat begins. Weapons bound to these functions would not be in inventory at all.
Cookie, you can switch out of combat. Open your inventory, and select the new weapon you want to equip. Easy as that. The suggestions to add weapon swapping in combat have been edited out, or removed, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t there.
And the reasons we are asking for a dedicated OOC weapons swap have been listed MULTIPLE times upthread. Please go reread.
I decline to repost them here. If you didn’t read them the first 5 times they were typed you are not going to read them just because I retype them.
And BTW, you Ranger does have control of the pet’s special attack, it’s F2 or F3 (haven’t played my Ranger in a while, sorry).
