Q:

Where they can be of either gender and are customisable like any other character. They would be summonable only in Lion’s Arch and the main towns like Divinity’s Reach/Hoelbrak/Black Citadel/Rata Sum. Maybe the crafting skills of a character be transferred to this said npc character as well to add utility and purpose.

Further all character modifications options would be available so that their appearance and features can be changed in all the ways that a full character can be modified.

Adding race specific dialogue would further enhance this. I think npc spouses will ehance town life and encourage players to socialise in towns more to share their GW2 experiences.

Do mini-pets do this?

I was probably one of only a small number of people who was almost turned off completely from Skyrim when Bethesda announced their would be marriage/spouses in that game. It just seemed unnecessary, even from an RP perspective, especially as it turned out that these spouses were practically useless for anything except a bit of virtual company in a virtual house that I would rarely visit. Unlike the housecarls, you couldn’t enlist them followers who could aid you in a fight.

For some reason this suggestion reminds me of that, except with a Sims element of playing dress-up. Unless these spouses can also act as followers/heroes/henchmen (and therefore make soloing some dungeons a more realistic prospect) then I don’t really see the point.

I stole a special snowflake’s future by exercising my democratic right to vote.
