Why is it people who have never joined a guild, only been invited are considered "kicked" or "left"

I think this is quite a flaw. I don’t think someone who has only been invited to my guild should be considered “kicked” if I cancel the invite. Or if they decline that they “left” they were never in the guild. I think this should be fixed to avoid confusion. Either don’t show a message at all, or make it more accurate. As in declined invitation, or canceled invitation.

Yes. Our guild “kicked” several players, they were only invited, never joined. Looks kind of rough in guild history :/

I personally hate the recruiting policy of many of the guilds I’ve seen in game…the shotgun technique: spam invites out to everyone they see… if that’s called recruitment, then the guild deserves to show it’s blemishes…If someone cannot bother to send me a tell, asking me if I would like to join them, and then just send an invite, kitten straight I’m going to ignore or decline the invitation. I’m sure guilds that show a little more respect by contacting people first to ask if they are interested probably don’t have this problem.

you are just missing an opportunity to join a guild by doing what you said. It is already difficult to understand that you need to represent a guild for many new player, so bothering to explain them before joining its a waste of time. Beside, who would waste time whispering to every player they encounter “will you join my guild?”
If they do recruiting in the map chat, then some frustrated loners will report them for spamming. If you don’t want to join a guild who sent you a random invite, its your choice, but as long as this is the easier way to get people invited in the guild, I think its the right mechanic.
and now on toipic: yes, I would like to see a “invitation declined” message just pop up in my screen when i invite some one. The same thing should apply to party invitations
I am just staying in request pending forever if i won’;t cancel it.

If you sent an invitation from the guild doesn’t that technically mean that they are a member? I mean granted if they do not click accept they can not represent or read guild chat but in my eyes, the guild has sent the invitation showing a willingness to add them to the roster. Hell, they ARE added to the roster if only in the “invited” section. If this were reversed and players we submitting applications this problem would make more sense seeing as how your not going to accept everyone who submits an application. However, this is not the case, your adding them to the roster and they are leaving, or you are adding them to the roster and then kicking them. Declined and uninvited reads the same as left and kicked in my eyes.

Yes, it should be changed to read ‘Invitation Declined’ and never add them to the guild/party roster history in the first place. This is just one more example of clunky tools with poorly worded descriptions among many in the UI.

Recruit people by socializing, make friends in the open world, and ask them if they want to join your guild. They’ll be much less likely to decline then opposed to some random dude sending a guild invite.
