'festive' costume is blargh!
I haven’t seen what my male charr would get but I don’t like the female version at all.
I think it’s ok for what it is. I was going to explain why I don’t like it, but as I was doing that I realised it’s not a bad design – it’s just a design I don’t like. To me it looks like something one of the women in Edward Sissorhands might wear to a Christmas party. I can see how that might appeal to some people but to me it just looks a bit rediculous and I can’t imagine any of my female characters wearing it.
I think it would be good if they gave us two outfits in different styles like they always did for GW1, so chances are everyone will like one of them. Then bundle them together for a slight discount (over buying them seperately) and people like me would buy the one we don’t like as well, just in case it does look good on a future character.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
It’s too baggy for my taste. My little Sylvari looks suffocated in it. I was hoping for a toy with a lot of ice magic as well but the scepter wasn’t interesting enough to make buying the costume worth it. I already have Mad King scepter as well (just for the toy), and the skill mechanics were so similar.

No way, I LOVE the female festive costume. It’s similar in style to the GW1 lunatic court one.
Bustles are win.
On my Asura it looks pretty cute. The thing is for my taste it is to much candy cute while I think my Asura is more the cheeky kind of cute. It somehow does not seem to fit It’s still a really nice costume in my opinion.
Though I am slightly disturbed by the fact that Ben Affleck and Kiera Knightly appear to be modelling it in the gem shop main page picture
I like it. It looks awesome on my Charr. Very festive and slightly pimping. I was hoping for an old fashioned Santa suit but this is pretty nice.
I love it and I need it for my Ele.
I like the kind of old fashioned look, it looks sweet to me.
I have the Witch one on my Mesmer and I love that too.
I was actually thinking we were going to get some cute skimpy santa style outfit for the ladies and a fat jolly santa outfit for the men. Oh how wrong I was.
But I love this new outfit. It is so stylish and gorgeous. I have been waiting for something more high-class for my Mesmer, and this fits perfectly.

I think I look fabulous.
Oh wow! you do indeed
Such a fine gentleman.
It may be my personal taste but the current skins in wintersday doesn’t seems to appeal to me. Most of the weapon skins are generic too (except slingshot and sceptor which doesn’t require me to spend cash). I prepared $50 for wintersday but there’s nothing that make me feel like spending towards. >_<
Please make those cash boxes to have some usefulness like exclusive rare armor or weapon skins with low % droprate. The halloween BLC was alot better imo. Many players don’t play the game for mini-pets that disappears everytime we move to another map.
Not my taste either, i’d never purchase that..
I totally agree it is down to personal taste, the problem is I don’t see anything to appeal to a lot tastes, including my own. It seems to me the skins and art for them are all aimed at a quite narrow range of tastes.
I know what you mean! I wanted a santa outfit for my female charr but when I saw that….dress…I had to crawl up in a corner and cry a bit.
Why only one outfit I wonder. Seems like you’d be able to get a lot more people buying if there was more choice. A little something for everyone never hurt
I for one love, love, love it on my female character. Anet make more of the same, please.
This is what I spend my $ on.

I love the outfits especially the male one ( female version went a bit overboard with the snowflake motif for my taste)
I just wish it was regular light armour … it looks like mesmer armour in a GW 1 fashion.
Mix and match! I love the costumes.
Awww, jealous as much I’d love to have a more femine touch on the usual Asuran skins, I’d like my Asura to be able to wear male skins this time, lol.
I really like it (specially with earmuffs on some chars) cept for female charr – they should have used male version of it for them imo.
Suggestion, make costumes similar to the Wedding costumes set from the original GW. Give us the option of either buying a set of outfits or picking out a variation of a basic outfit that you prefer.
I would buy the fancy winter outfit if they got rid of the bustle. For me it is that simple; offer me a version of the same outfit without that particular aspect of it.
As it is, it basically looks good on men but whether you think it looks good on women depends on whether you’re into butts that stick out three feet.
I think the female costume is lovely, very feminine and cute. Not to everyone’s taste maybe, but all things can’t suit all people!
Even though I still think costumes are very expensive at 700 gems, I’d rather spend that on the costumes than waste my money on buying the gift boxes.
Though I am slightly disturbed by the fact that Ben Affleck and Kiera Knightly appear to be modelling it in the gem shop main page picture
omg you are so right. Arg! Can’t unsee…

I love the costume, even though when you run, the inside of the dress looks like an onion. Suits sylvari I guess?
Bustles are win.
This summarizes my entire opinion on the dress. It doesn’t have to be revealing to be beautiful! Thanks to ArenaNet for catering to us more conservative dressers! We are often neglected when it comes to female armor designs.
(Although I would’ve love to have been dressed as a Christmas Sylvari :P)

I think it’s cute and christmasy. And I’m glad that as a winter holiday, we weren’t offered something slinky. The fur and bustles are great, and it looks freaking adorable on a female Charr.
WTF. I’m Mrs. Christmas, and I’m totally lovin’ my outfit. So as my Halloween costume..
Anyhow, it’s your opinion to dislike the costumes, but that’s that. I love mine, and that’s my opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Let’s just leave it at that and not make stupid posts on the forum. Just keep it to yourself if you don’t like it. No one’s forcing you to buy the attire.
I like them.
But I’m not buying any more costumes until we get a costume locker or costume maker NPC. They just take up too much room in the bank. I bought an entire tab already to hold Halloween outfits, normal town clothes, Halloween mask, launch week baseball hat, launch event t-shirt and witch hats and Santa hat that I got from event loot.
It’s getting a bit ridiculous in there.

Yeah I’m not a fan. I was raring to get a new costume (got both from Halloween), but this one is neither awesome looking nor attractive, so there is absolutely no incentive for me (it would actually be a detriment to buy it since it would just waste my bank slots).

I love it! I’m also on Team Bustles, and love that it feels like a winter outfit more than a specifically Santa/Holiday one. I like having the option to put my female asura in more feminine clothes, but I can understand why it might turn some people off. Having the option to choose either the male or the female version couldn’t hurt.
I have to say I absolutely love the holiday outfits, male and female. They are the classic Victorian style Christmas look. It’s always been my favorite formal style and if I had a choice, I’d wear it in real life as well. Christmas isn’t sexy to me, it’s traditional. :P
I have no problem with them adding more/sexier styles (naughty Santa/elf type!), though, because honestly, the more clothes options the better, in my opinion.
I love the outfit
Don’t like the scepter so much but ehhh. I’m actually quite pleased there isn’t some sexy elf/santa outfit, I’m scared what the asura would look like….

SHE LOOKS SO PROPER!! O_O <3!!
I’d have wished for some more leafy stuff for sylvari.
I only play Sylvari, and it doesn’t feel righ to wear anything else than leaves!
But as there are only 4 armorsets per armorclass (one insanely expensive, one out of a dungeon and 2 for an okay price) and 2 townclothes (the original one which looks meeeeh… and the cooker’s outfit) we definitely need more. _
A christmassy leaf-outfit would have been really nice. The festive outfit is oookay, but that’s it. Also, I liked the fact taht some costumes have a different look ondifferent races, would love to see this in the future too. Other than that I got the costume, as I am collecting them anyway.
I have no idea what you’re talking about. The dress is gorgeous, especially the skirt. I saved up for a month because I just knew there would be a pretty dress this time of year. The detail they put into it is amazing, even the snowflake details look sparkly and ornate. It looks like something an upper class lovely lady would wear, and I’m proud to own it.
Love the outfit, it goes well with the earmuffs

What you are basically saying here is exactly what I have been endeavoring not to – to say ‘this is my opinion, yours is wrong’.
If it is a ‘stupid post’ to come to the OFFICIAL FORUM to let the DEVELOPERS know that I, personally, do not like something in game, then what is the correct method? Youtube video? Sky-writing? What you’ve basically said is; I like it so your opinion doesn’t matter. That’s good for you, and you’ll notice I never once said the existing option shouldn’t be there. I asked for more variety, catering to tastes beyond just your own or my own.
Upper-class, conservative and victorian is all well and lovely but it is not what everyone thinks of or wants to see, and forcing it down our throats as the only option is just irritating. There used to be so much variety in the original game.
I quite like it, though the length on the female human/sylvari/norn is a bit awkward. The fullness makes it feel like it should be either shorter or longer.
My issue with it is that it is town clothes, which I find useless. If it were an armor skin, I would’ve bought it.
