Q:

As the title suggests, I’m curious to know and better understand what the EULA permits on a transaction of using in-game currency (items or gold) to acquire the services of someone out-of-game or any finished products?

For example, are we permitted to use gold to give to one player for their artistic services by way of a “commission”? I’ve seen some threads already floating around on this part of the forum, so I’m inclined to think it’s acceptable, but would like to know with better clarity. Thanks!

I commissioned a few pictures from different people on the forums and love the results. The way I see it is if it wasn’t allowed the post would either be locked or deleted.

I think it is fine if you are getting GW2 related works for gold but when it becomes 50g and Ill fix your roof that is another story.

This question has been posted many many times, never with an official response. After more than a year of constant commission threads, I think, at this point, it is safe to assume they are ‘OK’ with it.

I’ve been watching for an answer on this topic since early GW1. There’s been no official statement or posting regarding art commissions, and there’s essentially been a hands off approach. Somewhat recently, guru admins inquired about the topic and found the greatest concern about it was the possibility of scamming, so Guru shut down commissions.
My understanding is there will not be an official statement either way, so as to allow the community to produce fanworks, but also stand behind their EULA should there be those who abuse this for less favorable intentions.

Though, make of that what you will.
