I am planning a new Skritt character to introduce, though a very dynamic type of personality. Looking at options, video capture is probably the best way to present, but I am unfamiliar with the popular video-game capture programs. And some are outlandishly expensive. I am looking for a program that is capable of high resolution capture (dropped fps rates don’t matter because it is not for showing combat play) and is reasonably price, ie under 40 US dollars.

Any suggestions on programs? I have heard of Frap, but reviews aren’t exactly favorable. At the moment, one called “Action!” seems to be a better choice, review-wise.

Well your title is a bit misleading since you are asking about video capturing, not editing. Anyway, a tool that is popular among PC hardware DIY community is MSI Afterburner, which captures good quality video, provides a trove of options, and is light on resource. I’ve been using it for a while and am happy with it:

You can also search for video capturing instructions if its GUI looks a bit confusing on first sight.

http://obsproject.com – OBS is free for streaming and recording, takes a few mins to set up following a guide.
http://www.lwks.com – Lightworks is free for 720p output, bit of a learning curve but has significantly more features than other free editors out there.
