Seriously. The author very accurately sums up the feelings of the player base in a very constructive manner. We should all try to be as constructive in our approach here. This also defends ArenaNet where that defense is applicable. This article is a nice foundation for how player and dev communication should happen.

Excerpt that does a great job of showing the communication breakdown that has occurred between devs and players:

“The trait revamp made getting traits more difficult for new players and characters but hasn’t provided much in the way of increased fun. Commander tag colors will now all be unlocked with a single purchase, so it’s great that ArenaNet made that change according to feedback, but it’s troubling that it was even going to be implemented in a way that completely missed why players had asked for the feature in the first place. If ArenaNet is only able to tease stuff that’s a few weeks out from release, there’s much less time to get feedback on implementation — and when even small features are kept under wraps before a big reveal, it can lead to what I really would like to avoid calling “hype burnout.” Since I don’t have a better term for it, there it is."

From what I’ve seen, player concerns are a lot closer to “why no endgame raids waaah.”

At least, that’s what some people on the forums are saying, so I guess that’s how everyone in the game feels, too, yeah?

Article was pretty long so I didn’t read most of it, looked like the author was just giving points to every side of the debate where possible. Doesn’t matter anyway, people are blowing this way out of proportion, and someone at Massively is doing their job good by reporting on it in the most agreeable way possible.

It’s not about “endgame raids”. It’s about endgame content in general.

When people talk about “endgame”, they are referring to content at level 80. Let’s look at what there is for level 80s.

Living Story Season 2
Fractals
Dungeons
WvW
SPvP
Achievements
World Bosses / Temples

It’s been 2 years, and just about all of these are still the same, except for Living Story S2, Triple Wurm, TA Aetherpath, several fractal additions, couple SPvP maps, and OS/EotM.

This might seem like a lot, but it really isn’t, when you compare these 2 years to Rift, Tera, or even WoW.

Believe it or not but many people like things to do in PVE besides Dry Top flavored Loot Train and/or Cursed Shore flavored Loot Train.

He actually kind of agrees with why people flip kitten and come to wild conclusions. He isn’t cutting Anet much slack. Actually reading the article would have clued you in to this.
