Kaineng can currently only queue 2 maps on reset… for about 5 minutes, with absolutely nobody on the others. Its like a ghost town during the week :S

Yeah. Not to derail an already derailed thread or anything, but there are some lower tier servers that have a LOT of potential but are only being held back by a lack of night time population. Queues happen daily, usually on one map, sometimes two. Skill isn’t the issue. Coverage at night and NA mornings/early afternoons is for the most part.

I’m not an expert on other servers though. I’m just going by what friends from them tell me. It’s good to keep in contact with those “traitors” sometimes :P

With that said, I hope [RE] isn’t so narrow minded as to think the only good fights are in top tiers. There are some T4/T5 servers to choose from with great communities that are just waiting for that last little nudge. Glicko has a bad track record of holding servers in places they don’t belong.

I’m pretty sure whilst EBay may be able to do it, none of the rest of us can. In my experience, if SoS manages to queue EB and our own borderlands, that’s because it’s a very busy reset night and we’ve not got a single person outside of those two. SBI and CD aren’t that much better off, to be able to queue more than two maps at reset either.

On TC is depends on the reset night. Some nights there will be queues on all maps for five or more hours. Some of the queues are 2+ hours long. Other reset nights the queues only last for maybe two hours, and the queue times are around 10-15 minutes.

Always four queued maps though… If you can get in right at the start, the fights are unparalleled.

Might I suggest that you give Sea of Sorrows thorough consideration.
1. We have an excellent community that works great together. You will have the support of all our guilds if you want to work together in WvW or PvE activities (guild missions, events, etc)

2. As a former T1 server that had a mass exodus, we are incredibly stable. You won’t have a repeat of KN with a flash in the pan or everyone leaving because a single popular guild packs up.

3. We are the official Oceanic server so we can keep our keeps and towers upgraded all week long due to our great coverage.

4. A NA guild would make an impact. We have a great, yet small NA WvW population that is only lacking numbers for us to be a huge force to be reckoned with in the T2/T3 range of servers.

SOS or Ebay seem to be a good choice for an NA transfer. They look like they may have some potential to compete higher up. SOS in particular has a sizable oceanic community to extend your NA gains.

JQ really needs some NA help if you want to be in a top server, and FA can use an NA guild after BT left there, if you want to make wvw more competitive overall.

As far as DB goes, lets just say they have a suspect community, and have clearly lost steam since their initial entrance into tier 2. You cant be sure if they will spectacularly implode or stabilize until some time has passed.

Stay away from BG, as another poster mentioned, it seems guilds just go there to die, or end up a complete shadow of what they used to be…… Black “hole” Gate.

Edit – probably should clarify that all of the DB transfers haven’t been chest thumpers – Agg and FIRE are great examples of amazing fighters who earn respect, both on the battlefield and in the forums. There are just a couple of transfer smack talking guilds that generate quite a bit of drama.

If DB is chosen for RE, I’m positive you guys will fit right in the Agg and FIRE category.

Go wherever [RE] will have the most fun. It’s your time so go enjoy it on which ever server you choose

Find the one that fits your play style. Spend the time and do your homeworks.

I’ve told you guys this before. Look for the best community or one that is mentally aligned with yours. WvW strength is based on the strength of the community it’s in.

If your looking at T2, I’d just FA, they need the numbers more so than DB or TC. When DB joined T2 they had ridiculous coverage across the board, so the potential is there. TC has very strong coverage throughout the day (not sure about oceanic though). If you want to come to TC, i’m sure we’d welcome you!

FA on the other hand I notice tends to lack numbers from time to time. They are a very good WvW server, but there numbers at times tend to hurt them. One moment you’ll see them steamrolling through the map, then the next it’s like they’ve gone into hibernation.

Like many have said before, Yaks and opposing servers alike, Yaks Bend is a solid T3 server primarily because of our strong cohesion and teamwork in our NA forces. We don’t have a lot of super huge organized WvW guilds, but what we do have is an organized SERVER with a strong community. We have one of the largest Latin American alliance on our server that works great with our NA contingent. We have been fighting Kaineng for a month and Yaks have nothing but the greatest admiration for them.

Personally, I don’t go into EBG much, but the times I do, I can see why [RE] is respected by many of ours and Mag’s guilds. I have been on Yak’s since day 1 and seen it rise from T6 to T3 without the help of fairweathers players or large transfers. We have had the same core group of dedicated players keeping our server relatively stable in T3.

If you are looking to help balance a tier rather than stack on the winners, or looking for a server with an unbreakable fighting spirit, Yak’s Bend is for you.

Well, as a couple people have mentioned the tier system will soon be a thing of the past so it might be wise (assuming you can keep activity up in the meantime) to wait and see how the new matchups shake out.

But I think a lot of people are looking at this the wrong way. Almost everyone is thinking about this in terms of “what server would benefit the most from having RE” and not in terms of “what is actually best for RE.” When CO decided to move off of Kaineng, we wanted to go somewhere where we didn’t have to be the server’s main NA anchor. I wouldn’t be surprised if RE is in the same boat at this point—considering how long they stayed on Kaineng it is probably worse for them than it was for us.

To be honest, BG was a tempting option to me when CO was moving, but we couldn’t go because of the drama with RISE and WM. The guild wanted SoR at first (I even transferred there to scout) but eventually we decided they were well off enough without us, and for my part I figured it wasn’t very likely that we’d get decent-sized guild groups at reset.

I dunno, my guild seems fairly solid since joining BG. The server does have a heavy PvE population, though. We originally came from Darkhaven as well, so we’re familiar with Rethesis. Lunaticos on SoR should be pretty familiar with them, too.

Another thread about a guild looking to transfer and every forum warrior becomes a puppy dog as if the OP shook a bag of puppy chow.

In reality, just go wherever you kitten want. Asking on these forums is going to fill you with lies about every server, mostly from the occupants of that server. Since you’re PvX, and do some PvE, I’d suggest having some members scout servers and guest on them, seeing what the PvE is like. The WvW you can just tell by the point system already in place.

All I know is, depending on your skill level, you’re either going to be a guild that changes the outcome significantly by being good, or you’re just another guild that opposing servers use to farm but cannot keep up with the coverage so you PvDoor consistently and the nice little puppies that recruited you are going to turn into ravaged dogs thinking they own the game because coverage is all that matters in WvW.

Pick wisely, and don’t listen to any one of these people trying to recruit you. It’s like a job interview. They’re going to BS themselves as much as possible simply look like the best choice, but then you see their performance is bad.

The only people who call BG a blackhole are SoR forum troll accounts. It is a shame that they are so obsessed with BG they post kitten in every thread they can. I think it is unhealthy how much they obsess over BG.

You guys and everyone else who left us for more accomodating pastures wanted to originally move to KN and carry the server, pukitten to the top. We were even a “project server” according to one guild. So huge surprise when, shock!, you ended up carrying the server like you intended to. You said you wanted that, but that’s not really true. What you all really wanted was a strong NA server to work with and not be depended upon to succeed in higher tiers, which you and everyone else knew before transferring to us that we did not have to begin with. _ So you went hard until we got to T2, stepped back a little to avoid burnout, and the original T8 KN couldn’t fill in, surprising no one. What did you think was going to happen when you took the original T8 population and put it in T2? That we wouldn’t need the large transfer guilds to stay there and could hold it on our own?

Again, no bad blood or anything, but just say you wanted to leave because you didn’t want that role anymore, not because you were so tortured and forced into it. And it’s ok that RE doesn’t want that role anymore either, it’s a lot of work. That’s all I’m going to say and I had to get it off my chest. Good luck, RE, any server would be lucky to have you.

RISE, CO, and RE made up most of Kaineng’s organized NA coverage. When pug turnout started to drop it only became more stressful for all of us. I don’t see how it’s unfair or ‘dramatic’ to say that we didn’t want that dynamic anymore. Whether it was because we didn’t have the numbers/organization or because we underestimated the opposition doesn’t really matter at the end of the day. It happened, we lost out, so we all decided to become baby eating satan worshippers and sold crack to schoolkids to pay for our transfers.

We really have no idea which server to transfer too right now.

But we know what we are looking for. Stop the drama here please xD

One thing you can try is transferring a guildie (or two) to each of your short-list servers and having them get the feel of them over the course of a week.

To be fair to everyone involved in the Kaineng debacle. It has been about half a year since it began, this whole matter tends to get summarised as if it all happened over night. I don’t think CO are to blame either. They were the last guild to leave (until now) and they put up with a lot of drama to stay on Kain as long as they did.
Either way I always had good fun playing with them. At the end of the day it was WM that pulled the plug. The NA just collapsed as a result.

To get back on topic, I don’t think there is any rush and the next weeks matchups should be pretty interesting.

I honestly don’t think this thread will influence their decision on which server to go to. I bet they already know which one.

I do not know what you feel about us, after having fought us for weeks and weeks but I wanted to back up what Kronyx said. If you are looking for a home and a community to be a part of, definitely take a look at Yak’s Bend.

We have guilds and players of all types. 100% WvW focused to true PvX and then new players who are checking out WvW for the first time. We have an alliance of guilds to help facilitate our WvW play, a fantasic server forum (I’m a bit biased >.>) and a large free mumble for the community and guilds.

I will not say we have not had our problems/flare ups..but really what family doesn’t? We do the best with what we have and we have a ton of players that care deeply about how we do. We love to have fun on game but we also care about winning and when they go hand in hand…well, we all know that is best! lol

Scout out our server/forums, talk to us and hopefully you’ll realize that Yaks is the home you’ve been searching for. Whatever you decide, good luck to you! We have a lot of respect for [RE] on Yaks and wish you the best! Feel free to contact me also, in game or on the forums.

Since you know what you’re looking for, may i suggest getting a dev to just close this thread and do what you need to do to make your final decision. This thread has went from servers selling themselves to servers discrediting servers. It’ll just continue to go downhill. While i wouldn’t go so far as to tell you not to listen to anyone, i will however, suggest to get past the trollage and take what’s been said with a grain of salt. In the end, you guys know better than anyone from any server what’s best for your guild.

I will only comment on the two servers I have been on, FA from headstart until last Friday and BG since last Friday.

FA is FA. You get what you get, it is nothing special and out of the way, it just is. Which is rather nice. There are no large egos, people genuinely care about the server and helping others in WvW (even those of us who left still want FA to do well). There is an active community that posts regularly on their forums and a community teamspeak server for all WvW guilds to use. There is no large over shawdowing guild dictating the terms of the server. It is more of a loose collection of people looking to have fun, PPT be kitten ed. The downside to FA is it lacks good overall coverage and when you take something there is a very good chance that it will be lost as soon as you guys log off. Not for a lack of trying on FAs part, they simply lack the numbers to compete against TC and the Dragonwagon.

It has a unique mindset that comes from repeated weeks of getting stomped by TC and others, yet it is still kicking. You will find some of the fights you are looking for.

BG is also great, downside, server status is full. All of BT (we are not a large guild) have not made it over yet but on occasion it does open to very high for 2-3 minutes every 4 days or so. So far, despite the naysayers, the community has been very welcoming to us and organized in WvW. There are endless hordes of SoR and JQQ (tho this may change this Friday) to kill no matter what time you log in. Qs have been short to non-existant. And every night feels like reset night with the numbers at your side and against your opponents.

In any case, good luck, you fought well in KN when I was on FA.

Also, SoR doesn’t need help, there are just sooooooo many of them

if you want to tick 400+ during NA and want to god to bed smiling everynight then SoR, its that simple. this way your guild will never have burn out and you will not need to xfer ever again since you are locked at #1 spot in the world.

(and they are at “very high” as well, not as stacked but unorganized like JQQ or stackedgate)

If you like killing people…then FA is where its at. We are the defacto 15+ pvp server.

We do ppt, and we try to do it well, but killing matters more…as it should since there is no auto-balance in WvW.

Given the recent “Boon” to the FA community, I personally hope they go to FA. It’s been a real joy to watch some of the classic FA guilds come out to play again over the last week or so.

Hi RE, GM of [FIRE] Firebat here. Getting your numbers over to certain servers will be a challenge so I wish you the best of luck in wherever you decide to go. However, I thought I might post and give some insight into Dragonbrand and our experience as the most recent transfer from the NA time slot.

I have been personally impressed by the community here in Dragonbrand. We’ve been here for a little over a week and the support from the WvW community and PvE community has been wonderful. Moving to Dragonbrand was not easy for us, we’ve been on JQ since launch but it was the clear decision as we looked to integrate and develop with a community rather than conform, or be another cog, or focus solely on individual guild prestige. I’ve been very impressed by CO, Agg, BP, to name a few. While we are very new to Dragonbrand, it feels as though they’ve gone above and beyond to help us on the field and catch us up to speed on some tactics that are foreign to us. I am sure that the presence of [RE] Red Essence may raise some hesitation and confusion. We faced a similar hesitating moment before making any decision as there is a large presence of another FIRE here. We made the move anyway and I’m a bit shocked honestly… when I see my FIRE and other FIRE running together on the same map, with no confusion. It actually makes me feel a little fuzzy to see people wearing a FIRE tag that’s not in yellow but still fighting alongside with my FIRE tags, I think the same can be expected of Red Essence. Hopefully that little was of any help, we haven’t been here too long so we can’t exactly comment on the details of T2 besides the awesome fights we’ve had with TC and FA, both which never fail to keep us on edge. But, if you’d like, you can reach me in-game or on www.firebat.org for any questions you might have that FIRE may be able to shed some light on.

I think it’s a bad idea for people to keep suggesting that they move to servers that are Full.

If you want to make a real difference and feel like you’re actually doing something I suggest joining a T8 server that isn’t HoD (ET or FC.) Both of these servers constantly have their backs against a wall and only through perseverance have we even been able to keep some semblance of a community alive. FC has a very passionate community for WvW but the primary issue is it constantly feels like we’re banging our heads against a wall. I think that the addition of Rethesis could make a huge difference in our success and if you want to feel rewarded for your work then I think you know what the clear choice would be.

I’d recommend transferring to SoS. They could use the NA population, and most of them are good folk. They also have a good and coordinated guild-structured WvW effort already, so I think you’d fit in fine.

Do not go to Jade Quarry. They are evil, bad people! They will kidnap your children and force them to work in factories! Factories cluttered with teddy bears that are filled with high explosives and broken glass!

Ghost Tours Similar idea to the previous, except with ghosts! Maybe get your group to party with you, and have a friend go in ghost form for them to be chased by.

Hunting Trips Are you a seasoned hunter, or just a fan of the big game? Don’t have to be a hunter to enjoy the sport!

Safari Run a safari service by yourself or a few friends. Take people for tours of the sparkfly and its inhabitants.

Fortune Telling Another really fun one, you get to tell people what is going to happen in their lives

Psychologist/Councillor Listen to peoples problems all day and try to diffuse some of their anxieties

Odds-n-ends collector / Trader Hey, don’t throw away that white item! One man’s trash is another’s treasure. Show off your.okay lets face it, trash.

First, thank you to Eve for the kind words about FIRE – they are appreciated!

Just to add to what Crimson said – we are a recent transfer from Jade Quarry and I think we can offer some perspective on DB and Tier 2 in general. When we decided to leave our long-time home we were really looking for a good community that also fought hard in WvW. Which is how we ended up choosing DB as our new home.

As many have stated I have found Tier 2 to be as talented as Tier 1 in many respects, the key differential is really the lack of continuous 24/7 coverage that most server in Tier 1 have. From the fights we have seen from our time here, I think any of the T2 servers could offer the T1 servers a good challenge if they could get to a similar coverage pattern. The main differences are the coverage as stated, and the larger organized zergs that are prevalent in Tier 1.

For DB in particular we could use 1 or 2 more larger organized wvw guilds for the NA timeslot to get all of the borderlands locked down. From running with the DB wvw guilds and the community they have been friendly and we have worked well with them. I think our coordination across the server will grow in time as the established DB guilds get used to how we fight, and vice versa.

I would recommend DB if you guys are looking for a good wvw community to work with. However from what I have seen, you really couldn’t go wrong with any of the T2 servers FA and TC.

Complete misinformation. There is no “community in charge”. Guilds are free to come and go as they please with no drama. Please do not speak about that which you have no understanding. The DB core is happy in whatever tier is appropriate for its coverage and population.

DB is perceived as the “flavor of the month”, and has achieved some success as a result. There is factual basis for this, but it doesn’t mean DB is deserving of the hate that you see all throughout the WvW forums. Those who hate on DB because of their transfers and success probably need to do some soul searching. Some hate because of envy, and some hate because it’s what the cool kids do.
