Correct as of the 29th December 2012.

After searching on the Internet on getting custom music playlists to work on the Mac client, with no luck/responses, I decided to go fishing around the Application Support of the application, as there is often much to be found inside it when it comes to cracking through Apple’s decisively closed OS.

With some luck I managed to find exactly what I was looking for, so I decided to share it for anyone not in the know.

  • Press the Go to Folder… Shortcut (Command+Shift+G) and copy in the following: /Users/[yourusername]/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2
  • Locate to the Music folder inside
  • Place your playlist inside.

A free application I recommend to make the playlist is VLC. Trying to create playlists in iTunes is nothing short of a hassle, especially because they don’t particularly work; playlists created through it causes error messages each time. Using VLC, you can just open the desired music files, then use Command+S to save the automatically created playlist in the directory under the correct name (MainMenu.m3u, etc.)

Past this, playlist behaviour is identical to the Windows client, so further instructions on playlist specifics can be found here.
