About China the Trading Post
It will not be combined, per ArenaNet.
Chinese law prevents outside companies from running businesses in China, so ArenaNet is the developer, but a different company will be running GW2 servers in China for the Chinese to play on.

That doesn’t mean the trading post will be devided. If a Chinese person buy gems and sell gems for gold to buy a legendary weapon for example, The real money will go to Kongzhong company staying in China, whilst only the game virtual money will go elsewhere after all.
This questions gets asked multiple times. No, the TP will not be shared and will always be separate. Both clients are considered different games.

I don’t understand what you’re saying here. Yeah real $$$ goes to Kongzhong, and the virtual funds stay in game…so what is your point here?
That virtual money stays in the game and gets redistributed in the Chinese GW2 economy. It has nothing to do with NA/EU economy.
The only relationship between the two games are people on China servers looking at NA/EU updates (since China gets it one day later) and making speculative purchases.

If so, Forum Search filter should be improved couse couldn’t fine any post about it.
Thank you.

All of the servers, including the Trading Post servers, will be completely separate because they are run by completely separate companies per Chinese law.
There will be absolutely no cross-over between NA/EU and Chinese servers whatsoever.

Those are just a few. And I agree, Search is useless on the forum that’s why most use Google or Bing to do forum searches.
RIP City of Heroes
if i use forum search i find only mine, what magic is this :O
The forum search has never really worked. Google is much better.
And no .. that is no joke.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Lucky for us they are not linked. Dusk sold for over 5,000g over there and there are several buy orders for precursors at over 3,000gold.
The game was out only 8 days when someone bought the dusk for 5,000 gold.
Yowza. O.o I wonder whether long-term the prices will rise or fall as more supply gets injected into the market…
Dusk sold for over 5,000g over there…
The game was out only 8 days when someone bought the dusk for 5,000 gold.
That didn’t happen.

Um… so are chinese and our TP linked?
Um… so are chinese and our TP linked?
No, The Chinese TP is not linked to the NA/EU Trading post.
I would assume that they will not be linked as they will likely have different versions of some items (Deathwish, Deathly Pauldrons…anything with skulls on it). Because of their cultural differences items with human skulls on it are forbidden and as such they’d have different appearances. So their items, trading post and gem store should be separate unless there is some server sorcery that renders each object based on a person’s location.
Just my guess on this.

your guess is wrong.
Due to Chinese laws foreigners cannot be interact with the Chinese players. It has nothing to do with something as simple as you described.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

Oh, then I guess I should clarify. I -assumed- someone who spent over 250gold just to list Dusk for over 5,000g sold it, instead of canceling his sell-order since I obviously have no way of knowing if an item actually sold or was canceled.
Since you’d have access to the China TP listing history you’d also know that someone spent over 250g to list a white-rarity item on the TP, as well. And, of course, I am assuming they canceled it and that someone didn’t actually purchase a white item for over 5,000gold.
Regardless, for anyone curious I took a few screenshots and I’ll clarify a bit more on what is being shown. I’m not trying to prove a point, just find it interesting how the economy is functioning. One thing to keep in mind is that China’s open-beta live pre-launch client has been only available for LESS THAN TWO WEEKS at which point EVERYONE was level 1 leading up to this (and far higher prices earlier this week than can currently be shown since they’ve either sold or have been taken off of listings):
Image label 1: Current listing for Dusk is 2,555 gold with the highest buy orders being for 1,000g and 700g. Putting this and the next one into perspective, to list an item for 2,555gold costs 5% sales tax (up front and 10% after a sale is made), so to list this sword cost the seller over 125gold.
In comparison I just checked NA and the current listing for dusk is 1,154, over 400gold cheaper than it currently is in China. Also the highest offer for Dusk in NA is currently 1,041—that is 41g more than the current high-offer in China.
Image label 2: Current listing for Dawn is 2550gold with the highest buy order listed as 1,139 gold
In comparison, NA/EU has Dawn listed for 919gold—that’s over 1,600 cheaper than it currently is on NA/EU. The high-buy order in China (1,139) would easily cover this and that buy-order is over 250gold more than the current high-buy order on NA/EU.
Image label 3: Current listing for Spark at 1,500g and another listing for Spark at 3,000g. To list Spark at 3k gold cost him 150g.
In comparison on NA/EU spark is selling for 1,190—over 300g less than China.
Image label 4: the two highest-listed green items are priced at 450gold and 200g. To put that into perspective the 450g cost 22.5gold to list and the 200g cost 10g to list.
~~~Like I said, this is just raw data for you to come to your own conclusions about. Perhaps they spend more gems than we do (oh, and on that note gold to gem ratio literally tripled over night a few days ago. One morning I could get about 800gems for 10gold and the next day I could only get like 200-300 for 10gold)—so I mean LITERALLY. Regardless, if memory serves me right… prices weren’t like this when NA/EU launched. Albeit we knew less about the game than they currently have access to, I thought people might appreciate actual data. I can get more but this is currently what stands out to me.
—I apologize for not having screenshots of dusk and the white item that were listed a few days ago for over 5,000gold. I didn’t care to take a screenshot at the item and assumed they would still be listed if someone went to the trouble to spend 250gold just to put them up for sale.
What I would like to know is, how did those people get those Legendaries so fast, if the release date was May 15th? Did people do all the map completions and get all the T6 mats in beta? All the karma that was needed and learning how to open the temple of Balthazar to get the obsidian shards. Plus the time and gold needed to forge the precursors or get them as a (rare!) drop. They did all that in the 8 days mentioned in a previous post?
If you’re talking about my post I was simply talking about precursors (sorry if my post was confusing). I may have missed where someone was mentioning legendaries.
I have been told that several players actually did full map completion before hitting lvl 80 in a couple of days. Seems difficult but possible.
That being said, I have not seen anyone with a legendary nor have I heard about anyone with one. I think obsidian shards would ultimately be the real time-barrier since everything else could theoretically be bought (minus the badges of honor, unless you consider buying titles like minipet, emperor, etc to get achieves to unlock more badges).
All of that aside, no legendary weapons have been listed on the TP to my knowledge.
K. Precursors only then.
Most likely then they weren’t put up with the expectation of being sold anytime soon. They would have access to prices on our TP and it’s likely they put them up to sell later when prices do reach that level. I’ve seen a number of posts where people mention selling precursors soon after launch for what now seems to be a really low price.
There is a difference between an item being “sold for 5000 gold” and seeing an item “listed for 5000 gold” and then disappearing.
So my question would rather be – does John have to split himself in half to tend to the chinese TP as well? I mean he’s already not sleeping so there is no wiggle room here … perhaps no more lunches?
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
He doesnt split, there are two of him, as he confirmed in this topic 2 months ago:
Actually 9 have sold in the last 24 hours.
omg specific market velocity info
i can feel the chains of your NDA loosening
I have two just in case the first one breaks :P
This was interesting when, at first glance, I read it as “DNA loosening.” And yes, of course you have two, since most eukaryotic DNA is double-stranded. But why all this concern over John Smith’s mitosis?
Well, why not?
When there’s two of me, one will leave to fix other games. Soon there will be no cartels in the gaming industry.
Alternatively, one could be evil and try to take over the world, just throwing that out as a possibility.
A very likely possibility.
