Colossus and silver doubloons
I would save for the precursor. In the process of saving (which could take a while), Anet MIGHT release the ability to craft a pre. Its a matter of waiting for which comes first. While waiting and saving, throw in your rare weapons you receive from Mega Boss loot or sell it of course if you dont want to gamble.
As for Silver Doubloons, there’s 2 ways to farm them. You can farm humaniod enemies, bandits/centaurs for Bags within the level 20-30 range. You are looking for Light or Medium Loot bags. Second way is to do jps with a character that’s around level 24-26 since they have a chance to look a chest at their level.
And of course best and efficient way is to farm gold and just outright buy them. Do your some dungeon runs and buy a few each day.
This doesn’t prove anything with the RNG, however I have been getting far fewer silver doubloons from the jump puzzles lately. On a low level character I’ve gotten maybe 1 doubloon in the LA jumping puzzles in the last 2 weeks.
When I needed charged lodestones they were over 3g each. Legendaries are expensive. Doubloons especially. I realize what you are asking and what most players want.

Wait, why can’t I just do JP’s on a level 80?

The type of rewards from the chest depend on the character’s level. Silver Doubloons are a fairly low-level drop, so you won’t get them from chests at higher levels.

Correct. Another way to do world boss events for the spawned Chests since the loot is your level and better chances to get it BUT do too many and you’ll level yourself out of range.
If you have an alt toon spot, get a level 25 toon and plant him/her by a JP in Lions arch. Just log on every day, open the chest, and hopefully it’s a silver doubloon.
There is a recipe on wiki for it, but like you said, it’s only 5% for the silver doubloon.
I bought doubloons ages ago for about 50s each, intending to go for Juggernaut because it would be easier than farming the charged lodestones needed for Sunrise. When the doubloons went up, I sold them at 1g50s each and upgraded charged cores in the mystic forge. I finally got Dawn thanks largely to the price of mats increasing enormously. While everybody was going for ascendeds, I finished my legendary. I do have some molten lodestones to get rid of, though.

There are two types of JP’s, there are chest that are ZONE based, and chest that are LEVEL based. Lion’s Arch is considered LEVEL based, so park level 20 characters at the chest and log on them everyday to try to get doubloons. You can use your 80s and go to level 20 zones to try for a chance at doubloons.

This would be true many patches ago but it has changed. Before, many world chests, including jp had 2 loot chances. When a level 80 character loots the chest, the 2 possible outcomes were
- Zone leveled loot : Say in Queensdale, a level 80 would get level 14 greens.
- Character leveled loot : Again, in Queensdale, that same chest and character would get level 76+ loot.
Now, its only 1 outcome, Character leveled loot. A level 80 character will always get the 2nd option along with Emyreal Shards.
I use to loot alot of chests in the open world, and this has been my experience. I dont ever get zone level loot anymore on my 80s when before I would curse the chest giving me zone level loot.
Parking a character at a good jp is pretty good money also, since you will be getting alot of greens/blues so its perfect with the new Magic find Essence system and getting t2/3 crafting mats for when Ascended armor comes out.

So I have to make a new create, use that experience scroll on it (the one that levels your alt to 20) and just keep it in Lions Arch…Well kitten
Or, as said, just farm the gold and buy them. It’s the fastest way, at least at the current price.

Might as well do both. If you have an experience scroll just sitting around and an open character slot, it takes about 5 minutes to make that toon, do the beginning quest, use the scroll, and camp in the waterfall JP. Everyday just log on, grab the chest, then switch and go farm gold. Even if you get one doubloon a week it’s still worth it.
