Event skins comeback
+1
I hope they bring back old skins as gem store items. Several skins I and many others tried very hard to get. It’s discouraging to know I’ll never have a chance to get them now. And people who are now buying the game are out in the cold also. It’s not good customer relations to not sell to people who want to buy.
I don’t think all old skins should always be brought back. There are some prestiege to owning skins that others can no longer obtain.
There will always been cool new skins to get, but there is also something cool about being able to tell how long a guy has been around because of the skins he is using.
I have a feeling this whole living story will eventurally repeat itself. Maybe something like every 2 years. I’m thinking they didn’t build molten facility and other dungeons for only 2 weeks. They have all these previous living story updates saved and they could be rereleased. These are sequential events building up a long story of the world, giving the feeling it’s alive and changing, but eventually this story will end right?
I wouldn’t expect anything to repeat in under 1 year however, because they are still developing content every 2 weeks. This will probably happen when the masses get tired of playing, and cash shop sales are on a decline, which would limit the games development.
I’d say you probably have a chance to get the skin again, however you might not like how far in the future it’s rereleased.

I’d like you to consider kindness instead of seeing the situation as “prestiege to owning skins that can no longer obtain.”. I have all three unlimited gather gear, I also have the dragon wings and helm, no one AFTER the event will be able to get them, but in my head I’m not likr “Tsk, look at me with something you’ll never get.” I enjoy having them nothing more nothing less. Again I’m saying this as a “present” for the community to the people who have (here I say again.) had the misfortune of not having it because they couldn’t. Don’t take my comment as offensive either, not attacking you. Just suggesting you see it another way.
I do believe I recall Colin saying that he wanted some one-time rewards like the Molten Jetpack to remain unique and not return. There will be some that return cough Halloween cough but he never gave any specifics. I just checked through Colin’s GW2 forum account and could not find the post, though, sorry!
If they wouldnt reintroduce SAB skins and the molten JP – why would you do it to the halloween stuff?
They’re re-releasing SAB, but not soon. The Molten Jetpack wouldn’t because, as stated before, the Molten Weapons Facility will only return as a fractal, and not an actual dungeon where you can get rewards.
Halloween is a yearly festival, which means that it will occur again this Halloween, which means that we’ll most likely get the halloween skins again. (Almost all of them are craftable and technically still craftable. There is just no influx of materials to continue crafting them which is why it’s not cheap to craft them.) If any of the Halloween skins were to not re-appear, it would be the ones coming out of the Black Lion Chests, but that is highly unlikely as well, as it would probably cause them to release more Halloween skins instead of re-releasing skins that have decent demand (and they can re-release them in BLC’s).

I understand your point of view but you are inserting arrgonace into my stance where there is none.
I have been playing MMO’s for close a decade now and I understand the value of including limited time things players can gain. It makes the things you are gaining feel that much more special.
I am not saying to restrict everything, but it is also a ‘kindness’ to reconize the vets of the game in some way. Something that you can be proud to show that you have been around since the beginning.
Even if it is just subtle changes. If next dragon bash the helms and the wings look a little bit different, that will add to the prestige of owning the old ones. Players that obtain the second gen ones will then feel proud to own their set when the 3rd gen ones come out.
I’m not saying that players coming in later to the game should be restricted in the gear they can obtain, but having little things here and then that can denote a players logevity in the game is valube also.
I like the newly added method of storing skins that are awarded for achievement points. I wouldn’t mind if they found a way to have two kinds of skins per event:
1. Common skins which are permanently available from your achievement page once they are obtained (through any method)
2. Rare skins which are only available once.
Put them back yearly as “commemorative sale” or something like that.
Who missed them have a chance/date to look foward for acquiring those, and being handed out once every 12 months it retain the “not-so-common” feeling.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.

But you’re still seeing it as a “I have this you don’t thing” but as mentioned by Andrew giving people ONE LAST CHANCE on Christmas STILL makes it pretty rare. Not everyone will get it but again, my point to this is to give people the opportunity to get something they COULDN’T but wished they could of. They aren’t any less of veterans because they had real life issues preventing them from being there while it was available.
Also I am aware SAB is coming back, I read about it and since I didn’t get the chance to play on GW2 while it was active I’m looking forward to playing it this time around, that aside. My topic is more of bringing unique items on the BL during Christmas instead of unique games/events.
And I agree with you Mtpelion. I like their new storing system for their achievement weapons/armor I think it’s quite the “achievement” (queue drums).
I think making rare skins available on it would be a good idea. Possibly implement a way that when it’s equipped on one of your toons, if it’s in the inventory/bank/equipement then it will not allow you to make another copy, for the sake of not abusing the quantity, if money is the issue then that would be the solution. If people would like to have more, they would need to buy a second one which would appear in the achievement menu as for example “Rox’s Quiver x2” so it will still allow the developers to make some profit.
Hope that made sense to everyone :P

Also, I will be moving this thread to the suggestion section :]

I get that real life happens. And when it does, missing something in a game should be a non-issue.
One time events are one of the few reward mechanics that actually reward players for participating in events. Offering exclusive rewards outside of these events trivializes the event and can foster a “meh, I’ll just wait and get it later” attitude that not only diminishes the event, but also, to an extent, diminishes the efforts of those who gave their time to partake in the event.
While personally, I could care less if events and exclusives are repeated or offered via alternative means, I do recognize that’s it’s a powerful mechanic for gaming companies to spark interest in the game, increase patronage, and at the same time reward the players for taking part in the event.
Ultimately, while it’d be a utopia for some to have everything, it’d be just as much a wasteland for others who value that exclusivity.
Who’s to say which is more valuable? From the company’s perspective, and for the long term viability of the game, satisfying which group is the better investment? I dunno.
Wow its this thread again. Tldr guy kitten he missed an event. Honestly though you missed b t you missed it. There are plenty of events to go around. Also some skins can be bought like Halloween or the jetpack. As I guy that oqns both I don’t want everyone walking around with it. The value becomes common instead of unique. Stop making these threads and just wait for other events. These threads show up just as much as “stop rng skins” threads come up

You have to understand, there are people who enjoy having things and there are people who enjoy having things other people don’t/can’t have.
These threads are always created by those who enjoy having things and get responses like yours from the people who enjoy having things other people don’t/can’t have.
It will be a never ending battle online as the two groups enjoy mutually exclusive things.
Then you have the people who got the thing you want when it was offered and you have people crying over the fact they didn’t get one when they were available (or they are new).
If it specific for a particular holiday, I expect we will see them again the next time those holiday’s come around.
If it specific for a particular enemy group I expect future events will be based around those groups and once again those items will be available again.
Patience (How long is that going to take?)
RIP City of Heroes
