Why I am forced to pay a 50% premium on the price of gems simply because I’m from EU?
The US price is 10$, the EU one is 10 euros. You guys dont have access to a currency exchange converter?

For me, that’s a difference of almost 50%!!! I doubt that ArenaNet will pay VAT in my country

And before some wiseguys starts defending this stupid policy, check Riot’s League of Legends. Yeah, i pay in euros there as well, but 1euro!=1usd. For 10 euros there I get more points than for 10usd because they do have access to a currency converter.

So instead of you getting 20$ from me and 20$ from a friend, you got 0 euros. Awesome business model.

That’s basically the ratio that everyone uses. Just check out the prices for the next gen consoles.
XBox One – $499.99, £429.99, €499.99 – 1 to 0.86 to 1
PS4 – $399, £349, €399 – 1 to 0.875 to 1
GW2 – $50, £42.50, €50 – 1 to 0.85 to 1
It’s to cover VAT, exchange rate fees and currency fluctuation. If anything GW2 favors the UK more than Microsoft or Sony.
