Not surprising data so far. Account expansions are usually good sellers, and we know there are lots of people who do like to gamble on the BLC’s. Armor skins, on the other hand, have a much smaller market since people typically will buy just one set and nothing more.

I fully expect gem prices to sink more today as it’s a Crafting Booster sale; boosters have never been big sellers for ANet (as evidenced by the fact that they actually removed most of them from sale a while ago).

This will be really great information to be able to check at a glance. Thank you for gathering and listing it in one place here. I’ve linked over to here from the other thread as well. I know I will be checking this frequently. Also, I believe they discontinued Felankor Boosters…temporary content and all. :\

He stated he updates at the end of each sale at the time noted above. I look forward to tomorrow’s update to see how much more it went down/up compared to the mild decrease we saw with the crafting booster over the chest keys. The larger jump from the skins to the keys makes sense considering the quite odd 35% discount on 5-packs. Having two lesser desired boosters on sale in a row will likely be followed by a more desirable item to boost the gold > gem rate back up again to make cash purchases more appealing over gold conversion. Tomorrow’s item will likely be one of the currently unavailable items to attempt this major boost.

Nor I, Zudet. Though there does still seem to be a constant influx of new players who have not been burned by them yet and have to learn the lesson from their own experiences. I know there are also those who do not mind how the keys and chests work, or actually enjoy they way they work due to their desire for all those boosters that are actually of value to them. Some actually enjoy the gambling aspect of them. To each their own. Personally, I’ll continue to get my chest skins from the TP even though I know their even being available on the TP requires others to open chests. However, with so many players running the personal story key farm circuit for the sole purpose of getting these skins to put on the TP, I know that no keys even had to be purchased for them to be made available on there. Unless Anet nerfs the farming ability of keys or revokes the ability to trade the skins, I know they will always be available on the TP.

I feel like it is worth noting that the new skins, mini pack, finisher was released on Day 4 as well. I know I instanta bought 2 of the mini pack when I saw that. Granted I personally didn’t convert gold to gems I am willing to bet a lot of people did for the new items.

On a side note I feel like they jumped the gun on the key sale. If they had that sale after the new weapon skins they might have sold a lot more imo.

Ah. Good point. I had completely forgotten about those other items having been introduced to the gem store.

There wasn’t as big of an increase as I was expecting for Kasmeer’s Staff Skin being available for just one day. I’m looking forward to seeing how the other unavailable weapons will affect the exchange rate when they come up compared to her staff.

Thanks, Behellagh.

Personally, I don’t understand how people can reroll characters and spend the 30ish minutes to get ONE freaken key. Do people realize to buy one key, it costs $1.50 right? That translates to $3.00 an hour. Pick up some extra hours at work and just buy the kitten key, so that way you can actually PLAY the game… Do a dungeon with friends, events, or whatever, while earning gold at the same time! Hey! In one hour of key farming, someone gets up to 2 keys. In one hour at my job, I can buy about 35 keys (I’m not trying to brag whatsoever, just trying to prove a point). Yeah I’ll take the cash shop way.

The one thing I will not do is convert gems I buy for cash into in-game gold. My gems are strictly for special event novelty stuff and skins only through the gemstore. In fact, I don’t even sell the skins I get from the BLC; I just use the tickets I have to get the weapon skin I want from the trader. I do some TP flipping while running a couple hours of dungeons a few times a week and get plenty in-game currency that way.

Well, when you make $105,000.00 annually your earnings might be a bit more flexible.

Like I said, they are like scratch tickets. Once in a while you would drop a fiver for five and if your lucky then great and if not, the suspense as you scratch hoping for something good is satisfying. I wouldn’t drop $100 on 100 of them though.

I only buy keys when they were on sale and lets face it, at 35% off for five at the beginning of the month it was darn attractive. But I still only bought 5.

I re-roll classes for the keys. I find it fun and a challenge to do level 10 missions on a level 4, and seeing as I have 3 80’s I’m trying out different weapons with new professions trying to decide on my next class. It’s between warrior and Ele ATM.

How you’re able to determine a class is fun to play after 4 levels (no traits, no utilities, white gear) and doing the same thing over and over again is beyond me, but more power to ya.

Oh I run each race/weapon set on each class one at a time until I get an overall feel for it. I know utilities and whatnot have a lot to do with the actual feel but I’m getting a good idea of it. D/D Ele is almost as fun as my thief! I prefer classes by weapons and combat style more than utilities, I don’t use my utilities very much. But I am not really a fan of the warrior but it’s just so META and I want another heavy so I can get T3 heavy for an Asura.

If anyone wants to key farm commoners human story with a warrior great sword is the fastest or a DD thief if you’re good with that.

Obviously Transmutation Crystals are also on the most popular list. We still have a few high demand items yet to go on sale. Bank and bag slots, the other weapon skins from earlier LS content.

Makes me wonder if the people running the sale has some global meter showing how many gems and gold is on active player accounts and wait for numbers to recharge before the next high demand item goes on sale. If you try to drain all the gold and gems from player accounts so they would spend cash to by gems, obviously not everyone will comply and player dissatisfaction will climb.

Only reason I can think of as to why they haven’t tried to have multiple popular items back to back to back so the exchange breaks 10g per 100.

I’m still a bit surprised at how little of a rise there has been in the exchange rate over the last 24 days. I honestly would not have been surprised had it gotten up to an average of 10g per 100 gems even midway through the month. Here we are barely skimming below an average of 9g per 100gems and the month of sales is nearly over with. Thank you for the chart as well, Behellagh.

I think we may have reached the equilibrium points where most players feel that 6-7g for 100 gems is an acceptable price when selling gems. Thus, unless something BIG comes along to push demand for gems even higher, we’re not likely to see the exchange rate hit the 10g mark anytime soon.

Well if you notice they are spacing out items that spike the price upward, letting the rate cool off a bit before the next. Of course they are still adding a twist every so often with a “new” hot item like the new Frost Wasp Logging Tool and Lion’s Arch Survivors Dyes this Tuesday or the Set 3 minis and new hair styles last Tuesday.

After all if the price rises too quickly or they deplete the average player’s gold supply to quickly, you either get players who buy gems with cash or unhappy players. There’s a balance they are trying to carefully trying to find. It also looks like players who are buying gems to convert into gold are paying attention to these sales as well as opportunities to maximize the gold they are getting.

I think we are going to touch 7g today and there is going to be a number of large but temporary spikes down today and a more general trend tomorrow, unless tomorrow they put up another popular skin or slots (character/bank/inventory) for sale.

They may be holding out until the Friday through Monday for those items when more players are online.

Surprised that the Royal Pass didn’t make a bigger impact. I guess the various “warnings” about the RT missing the Daily Event NPC and those that insist that account bound convenience items should automatically be accessible by every character without need of transfering it, soured it enough to keep players away.

Or that on the weekend, more players took advantage that the Gem to Gold rate was over 6.5g and gave balance to the exchange.

Looking at your calendar StinVec, it’s apparent that Sunday is armor skins day.

Please allow me to defend myself. About royal pass warnings.

The reason I warned people :

I and some friends where really disappointed to see the daily activity missing. If the airship only gives ultimate convenience why bother buying the royal pass?

It was known to Arenanet a long time ago that the airship only had the daily activity, so this is not just an error.

Source: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/The-Royal-Terrace-is-Still-Lacking

So I felt no other option than to warn other players. All the info had been out for long nothing was done about it. I understand GW2 has a lot of great things coming up <3, so of course their priories lay there. I strongly felt this would be forgotten.
So I had to make a thread during the sale, where it has the most effect and attention. Even though this could cut into the short term profits of (still) my favorite game company. Because aside from the royal pass daily npc I a very happy with GW2 and Arenanet way of handling the game.

But in the end its for the better of a player base making an informed decision. Because they don’t feel a sour surprise like I did. Which make them at least not disappointed so they are longer happy and potential customers for other gemstore sales., and potentially buy more.
