6 hours on Arah's Dwaynas High Priestess Simin
Heh, I tried this same path yesterday and got stuck on the extra sparks as well. I don’t know if it’s working as intended, my guess it’s either bugged or it’s poorly designed; might need more visual cues on what to do exactly if there’s some trick to it.
Trust me we tried about everything we could think of. Throwing tears at her as she started to vanish, Fearing her as she started to vanish, attacking the area she vanished, and so on so forth.
I think the extra spark is a bug. But the design of how they act is just bad if they didn’t path so bad and switch to anything that may be in or near its path pets or a party member who didn’t move away in time maybe her healing would be more do able. In fact I know it would but as it is the way they move, the buggy spawn, the target switching, and how fast she heals with no way other then the sparks to stop it all adds up to being unbeatable. Unless you have some super specialized pt specifically built for just this 1 boss.
But in my opinion that would prob lead to the exclusion of classes and force people into a specific build which kind of goes against what AN has been going for.
IDK I hope they fix this I just wish there was a warning to save us time. I had gone in on Oct 3rd and was on the ghost boss just before her when the maint kicked me off which was 2 hours waisted no tokens gained but we learned all the path up to that point allowing us to move much faster this time around. But again unable to finish due to this and ending up with nothing but debt out of it (repairs caust more then we made and no tokens)
It is so frustrating and I have had 2 people tell me they wont run Arah any more because 2 nights in a row we waisted hours for no reward.
Yes it was fun figuring things out but that fun turned into not so fun into stress into anger lol.
I just want people to know they should avoid this path and not go through this till it is fixed.
She would heal for the full duration if there is an extra spark, however her second resurface would only require 1 spark.

What I don’t understand, what’s the point in this? Just have her heal back instantly or something. Why waste people’s time having that extra spark there that won’t disappear until she heals back to full HP? It doesn’t make sense from a design standpoint.
It is really random at times.
On some of our kills she would spawn exact amount of sparks every single transition, we would take 3-4 rotations before actually getting her down, on some other times she would alternate spawning 6 or 5, which would result in way faster kill.
Just a matter of organization, no pets, be fast, some patience
Just did the same thing, definitely not happening without a zerk group.
Zergs usually play like mindless children. They don’t listen nothing, don’t rev, don’t understand even the most basic principle of teamwork, you can explain the strategy 30 times, hopeless. That’s why it’s suggested to collect good players on your contact list.
We beat her yesterday with… Four or five sparks spawning? I’m not sure if having one spark is bugged or intended, but the 4/5 sparks made it… Irritating, to say the least.
We pulled her out of the room. One player stood at the far side of her cave and waited for her invisible buff to appear and grabbed the sparks on that end, while our Ele grabbed the sparks that spawn near the mouth of the cave. Both of them ran the sparks to the statue.
The other three of us (Me as a Necromancer, a Thief and a Guardian) stayed on Dwayna. The entire time. She is merely stealthed, not invulnerable, while hidden. This means she is A ) Susceptible to poison while hidden, which we -believe- was slowing down her healing process, and B ) Attackable. It negated out the chunk of healing she would have otherwise gotten while being hidden. That and the fact that there were only two players running sparks meant that they were not aggroed onto any other random players.
Now my question is whether this was/is intended, or if we essentially exploited the fight in doing this.
Edited in; Whoops. Orcao, my group member, actually posted about this when we downed her. So here’re the screenshots of the kill I guess. Lol.

Our team attempted the same strategy yesterday, but she wouldn’t go below 25%. Every time at 25% she’d stealth (kind of like how she does at 50%), and no matter how fast we ran the sparks, she’d stealth again at 25%. After a bad spark run she went back to above 50% and we had to break the 50% barrier again, but she wouldn’t go below that until we got lucky with a fast spark run again ages later. But then we were stuck on the 25% like before. It’s like an endless circle.
When happens, just reset the fight, sometimes works.
Well the point of this thread is to have ArenaNet read it. If we need to keep resetting a boss just to get a chance to beat it, or getting lucky with spark luring, it needs to get fixed.
Here is a kill video of simin
Well..i just had a go at Simin. This encounter is ridiculous!..we tried in vain for about 3 hours before we gave up..we were getting everything from random sparks to a bad spark that just refused to path correctly around the statue and go down which of course resulted in Simin regening a crap load of health. I’m willing to admit that this encounter could definitely use some fine tuning..
We spent about 6.5 hours on this encounter. We had reasonably good dps imo and had one (bugged) try where we almost killed him(2%HP). Few things that are wrong with this boss, or it was wrong for us anyhow:
1., After 25%HP he goes off to heal way too often, this is the most ridiculous part of it.
2., The sparks are extremely hard to position correctly in the available (very short) timeframe
3., The freezing effect is bugged too, sometimes it doesn’t work at all, sometimes it keeps you stunned even after you are being hit by a tear.
4., Sparks just don’t work with pets very well
Imo killing this is only possible via extreme luck, sometimes the boss glitches and you can attack him through the healing phase, unfortunately we could down him when we had this bug. (we didn’t attempt to glitch it purposefully) I saw kill videos, and I’m inclined to think they were just lucky, or this is only got broken recently ..
