Beta Access to LFG
Got in he LFG beta (even if i’m playing very little to nothing lately, but w/e).
Seems to work fine, and growing number of ppl enabled to use it makes it better and better.
As far as issues goes, i fear i’ll have to repeat:
-no “accept to party” for joiners. I want to be able to choose who can join and who don’t. Call me a douc*e, but atm is too easy to grief.
-no story/explorable flag. Fractals grouped oddly.
-no WvW tab.
-needs a flag to the merging feature if possible.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
Hmm seems anet have decided to change their stance on selling dungeon slots all of a sudden.

Seems like I’m not going to use this tool… I have a guild for dungeon runs and lfg for selling.
Anyway I would like to know if a “bot” will delete my posts after X players report it or not. If there is a bot I’ll report every GS mes or longbow ranger who join “exp only” groups just for fun

Once again, they bend to the will and wallet of the casual BHB.

I’m casual. Will you bend to my will? Put [Long Range Shot] on a 4s cooldown and double the knockback time. Give ranger aoe stability on longbow. Wait we’re talking about LFG I’ll shut up now.

WHY!!! i just started selling spots… kittenING ANET
The LFG is stupid. I’ve had about 14 people join me today in my arah selling spots without reading the description and/or wondering why i suddenly ask money for it.
I gotta admit that it’s better for filling up groups quick, but much worse for anything else. THe party merge feature is the worst thing on it. 2-3 people can just join your group and kick the leader instantly with almost no way to retaliate.

Party merge means 3 people can join Cookie and I after we duo all of path 4 and kick us instantly. This feature needs to be removed.
Why would you be advertising for a group at that point anyway?

They call on randoms to spice up the bedro- arah path 4.

If they are doing that to troll, you can report them. Normal groups will not join your party just to kick you.
I was just in a COE group today looking for “experienced only speedrun” and they were failing to stack on Alpha, didn’t LOS any of the mobs, and then wanted to stack in the corner and range the turret golem, of all things.
So I guess as bad as GW2LFG pugs were, at least they knew what “experienced” and “speedrun” meant.
I bet people are gonna start reporting elitists aswell.
OH NO
what are you all going to do now??
actually, I don’t know if I’m ever going to use this thing. Atleast with LFG.com I could typically rely on finding people atleast at the experience level to do ACs/CMs without Leroy Jenkins’ing into every encounter we could just as easily pull or sneak around.
No such luck with general pubbers though.

That probably needs clarification. There is selling spots for in game gold. Then there is possibly selling spots for real money. Those are obviously not equivalent and it is not entirely clear which one either of the people involved are talking about.

So that you can break the rules and get reported.

I’m glad the lfg tool is working out for the majority of players. If speed runners and elite dungeon clearers are so good, they can use their own elite group finding skills. Power is being returned back to the masses, hopefully more than the same seven or so people will begin posting in this subforum.
I love that the tool doesn’t have options for discrimination (aside from choosing which party to join). I’ve done several dungeons with it now and almost every time at least two people were within 5 levels of first accessing the dungeon and most of my runs are going just fine.
If three people join your party to kick you before you start the dungeon, no big loss. If three people join your party to kick you while you’re selling the dungeon run (don’t you only need two people to kick?), they stopped you from breaking the rules and they didn’t benefit themselves (because the instance is tied to the creator).
The dungeon tool so far is challenging the idea that you need specific classes, zerker gear or level 80s to complete dungeons in a reasonable and enjoyable amount of time. You probably won’t see 10 second auto-attack kills of the destroyer in CoE with it, but I suspect far more people will see destroyer kills at all. That’s where the focus needs to be.

1. Path sellers do no control gw2lfg.com. Anybody can post any type of recruitment for any kind of run. It is not some service that magically screens out people who take 4 hours to run a path of CoE.
2. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Please-fix-people-selling-dungeon-slots/page/5#post1162080 Please keep your kitten to yourself before you kitten all over the kittens and make yourself look like a big kitten.
Ive used this tool 3 times so far.
First time was an ac all paths group where one person dced another just left and when we got two more from the lfg they were both lvl 40 and slowed us down enormously.
second time was a cof run with a mesmer advertising to be the best mesmer ever. Normally i dont join people with stupid ads like this, but i did it for fun. Turns out he was the worst mesmer, didnt even use focus pull.
Last time was for arah lf experienced people, if by experienced they meant experienced in kittening things up because after i saw everyone ranging crusher and wiping because they didnt understand how to dodge or that melee is easier i just left
So far this tool is a piece of kitten.

So you’re quoting an 8 month old post before the tool existed over a three day one responding to the tool’s existence? The twitter comment specifically references the lfg system which wasn’t in place 8 months ago. Perhaps the lfg tool is so unfriendly to sellers because they don’t want it being used for that all. It’s not a design oversight, it’s a design goal? I think the lfg tool needs to come with a snorkel so we don’t drown in your tears.

Appealing to causuals and masses is probably one of the top 3 reasons why this game is going downhill with design decisions.

If we asked about the contradiction for dungeon selling in general discussion forum, would we get a response? or another forum that sees more dev action?

Modbot would move it here before any dev could look at it. We might repeat the Tafu thread opening with dungeon selling, though.
A guy in our guild tweeted back to them the forum post, but we were never able to see it.

All that’s going to happen is that the zerkers will stop using it, meaning that LFG PUG quality will drop more than it already has, and people will resort more and more to their contact list as a go-to for groups to run with.
“but that’s great, no more elitist scum!”
It also means slow dungeon runs that will put off newbies to dungeons, and common knowledge strategies won’t be passed down because people will carry on doing dumb stuff like stacking on the stairs for the howling king in AC rather than running in, full DPS bursting down the boss like a non-terrible group would.
Morrï (Mesmer) | Serah Mahariel (Guardian) | Morrï Mahariel (Warrior)

Do it.
You guys do realize that the people you get into your group by using the tool doesn’t make the itself bad?
People seem to be unable to read (thus making the good merging feature which speeds things up drastically a self goal) and highly misinterpret the term “experienced” which is the case on gw2lfg.com, too.
If we asked about the contradiction for dungeon selling in general discussion forum, would we get a response? or another forum that sees more dev action?
Well I have a duplicate post in dungeons but devs never go there so I figured this was the only other subforum I could post about this in. Maybe account issues as their twitter implies such posts will result in bans.

Could always ask in the Account Issues department and hope Gaile responds
That’s who we used to ask about other activities misreported in Gw1
To be fair, it’s not like you can see much about the player other than the class when they request a join anyway, unless your typical method of screening people is to require them to PM you before you accept their invite. And I’ve never seen anyone doing that before. Most people just accept the request, do their gearcheck, and kick after if it doesn’t work out. Which you can still do now.
Griefers joining an in-progress dungeon run to kick the host is a bigger problem by comparison, especially since you might not even see their names before the kick. The easiest solution would just be to preserve the instance if the host gets kicked, but I doubt Anet thinks any of this stuff through. They obviously didn’t when they made hurrzerg events the only way to get dragonite.
