Dungeons should be worth doing for more than just tokens and achievement
Exactly what i’ve been saying! Why there’s ZERO rare drops such as eternal/chaos/zodiac in gw1? Why all i’m getting from drops is same blues with same skin every time? If you have pathetic drops increase token rewards by a tone because its been over three weeks i waste tokens on random trash and mystic forge it all. We should have a decent chance of looting rare skined exotics from dungeon chests that way no bosses will ever be skipped and its worth playing dungeons for drops/money and not just fun cuz after you’ve done a path over 20 times it isn’t exactly fun. Knowing you have absolutly no chance of getting anything worth over 1g (lodestone) its pretty pathetic for an MMO.
I second this idea. Give dungeons much better loot. Tokens alone feel grindy; adding some random, themed loot of appropriate level would really brighten people’s days whilst sticking it to the bots.
But again we are talking about skins at most. Is that really worth it in MMO? The skin hunting as sorta endgame is what turned me off.

What else could you want in an rpg? There’s no kill streaks or tactical nukes…
I want a non-unique sense of achievement that only comes to a person what he/she has gotten something truly valuable. I dont consider legendary weapons in GW2 as that goal given their grindy nature.
Like what? What kind of achievement could you get after 20-30-50 or 100 runs of a certain dungeon? What about in a year or two? Rare drops is the only thing that may make you come back years after game’s release, for money or a new skin anet added.

We’re in the process of working on loot drops right now for dungeons.

Like a rare mount that has a slim chance of dropping from end-boss (tested on many games)

..or super-rare skill that you cannot acquire otherwise?

lol mounts… i hope this crap never, NEVER comes to guild wars. I didn’t buy this game to ride a cow looking dragon. I seriously hope anet doesn’t even consider of adding this WoW trash in the upcoming expansion. Do NOT want to see people riding unicorns, dragon and all that crap lol wtf this is gw and no wow or generic korean mmo 101. More skills is never bad since gw2 is way more limited than gw1 but how exactly can it be rare? Not like a skill can be a rare drop or something

Well, was just throwing ideas… You dont like mounts, ok. What’s wrong with skill books (tradable like in WoW)? You could have invis on guardian, or “stand the line” on mesmer? why not? or some fun skills like mass sheeping or whatnot
i would be okay with skill books but it’ll be unfair for wvw or spvp. I’d take a chance of getting a legendary precursor or another nice looking/cool skin over any kind of books tho. About the skills thing, i always tought (way before first beta was even launched) that every class should be able to wield every weapon in the game. Since you can’t swap skills like in gw1 (and have a metric tone of skills to chose from) you’re extremely limited with the couple of weapons you can use each having only 2-5 skills. People always bring the Traits and say how it makes a hige difference… well it certainly doesn’t make as much difference as a completely new skill and hundreds others to chose from.
If every dungeon was as profitable as Ascalon Catacombs that would give me enough incentive to keep running them. Though I don’t have all the skins I want yet(especially for my alts!), getting money is more important to me than getting skins for the time being.
The big downside to making money from dungeons is that you need a consistent team of 5 people that work together well, and that’s not always possible.
I still like it about new rare skills (equipable to a new slot and maybe bop too). And how about unique class armor skin sets with empasis on class and obtainable only via drops. In any event someting has to be done about enticing players to do dungeons.

So you are doing it for skins or gold. The topic is – some people like me or OP feel that it is not enough to go into dungeons (especially when you are happy with what you have already).
I am just wary of Red Posters ending up just upping a chance of yellow drops on dungeon runs. Aint gonna solve bigger issues folks.
Hey – how about this idea – you need, say, 250 tokens from EVERY dungeon in GW2 to buy an ability to acquire ANY skill in game (from any class skill set)? That is certainly guildsworthy.
Thank you for responding Robert and I know that you’re working on it! My main point with this thread was to say that try to make it substantial enough (don’t just give rares slightly higher drop % from chests).. so you can actually notice a difference
Thanks Robert for working on this.
Hopefully Champions/World Bosses will also yield better loot at some point.
Interesting skins would be really great. I agree with others in the thread, after finding my umpteenth flippin’ Mending Norn Bow of Earth and my who-knows-what-number-I’m-up-to-now Mending Norn Axe of Air I’m starting to get sick of the lack of variety. Weapons with the same stats but exciting, interesting skins to collect, as in GW, would be much appreciated. I loved that the weapons would be priced just based on how people thought they looked. Finding a rare skin that doesn’t put any emphasis on being better, but takes a bit of hunting to find, was one of my favourite parts of the first game.
Anyway, I’m sure you guys are working hard on it already, and I appreciate it.

Looking at your Sig and I am thinking to myself, Um yeah it is.
