For the record, I just did an AC run … with me on staff ele.

You took an ele into AC and had a smooth run. Wow! Your system is amazing.

Actually, as an ele myself there’s a clear difference between what PuGs perceives as a ‘smooth’ run and my own perception of a smooth run. And that goes for every dungeon.

Zerkers in PuGs = either everyone has to do it, or none.

Duo’ing AC Path 1 as elementalist and warrior takes what? 8 min? 7 min? Maybe 6?
I’d consider that smooth runs, although i’ve already had 5 min runs.

No gravelings were harmed in the making of this run

I’ve seen pugs full wipe on the scepter pieces room. AC is pretty difficult to fail hard at but boy do pugs love a challenge.

Oh, two were! The breeder and the howling king.

I’ve found that there are actually a fair few decent players, more than enough to quickly fill out a pug, but the problem is that your group tends to fill up with bads more quickly than the goods can join. Not everything has to be uber speedclear minmax mode, but seriously, some pugs are just terrible it makes even the easiest dungeons a massive pain in the kitten , and once we’re in the dungeon it becomes much more of a hassle to kick and replace them midway. I propose we make gear and traitchecks a regular thing whenever we pug. Start requiring everyone to meet thresholds on:

1) Achievement points
2) Gear (probably just the weapon is good enough, if a ranger joins and pings a bow you know to kick)
3) Traits (tell them to list their trait spread, it’s usually pretty easy to tell if they’re screwy just from the point distribution)
4) Utilities

Not only does this filter out the bads right from the get-go, it’ll also prevent them from complaining when they inevitably get kicked for not using banners/spirits/reflects/whatever. Seems like a win/win for everyone involved.

I have a great idea. Maybe Anet would let us actually link our achievements in chat. Also they might give us an add-on that would rate our gear numerically. I’m sure this would build a great community of gamers, and not spawn a hell-hole of condescending “pros”.

You know the saying: “Teach a man to fish and he eats for life, make him link his acheivement, and you save yourself five minutes of explaining fights.”

Did AC p3 today with an “experienced only” PUG group and we wiped repeatedly.

No projectile reflection was put up, no stability, no condi-cleanse, no blocks. I’m pretty sure they weren’t DPS spec either, because the HP was barely moving and the AC bosses have barely any.

“Experienced only” is practically like writing “lfm”, it makes no difference.

I guess the definition of “experience” just varies. To one, it means “I have seen it before and sort of know what to expect”. To others it means “I can do Arah with a blindfold, a coffee in my right hand and the left hand typing a forum posting about how 99.99999% of all GW2 players suck at what they do”.

Looking at threads like this, I think ANet’s idea of a LFG is an equal opportunity offender, that tries to suit everyone but satisfies nobody. I’d rather have a totally automatic tool. At least then everybody would know what to expect when using it. This way…it seems that I have to feel bad about myself when using it for not being 100% perfect.

“Experience” or “Exp” or variants thereof in a LFG listing don’t necessary mean “limited to those knowledgeable to the dungeon.” They often mean “experience mode” (as opposed to “story mode”).

Exploration mode*, experience mode doesnt exist, if you put experience the people understand the meaning (if they read it).

i have no zerker gear and i don’t run a cookie cutter build, but i play better than 90% of elitists.

How about a personal filter, like so:

1. Add “goods” to your ingame friends list.
2. Ask said “goods” + friends when putting together a dungeon party.
3. Put together party without fear of “bads”

Generally part of being a good player, is using good gear and a good build. A players gear/build translates to their game knowledge, which is a part of a players skill.

So yes, you probably are.

I’d just like to add, that ‘90% of elitists’ isn’t saying much. Most ‘elitists’ are far from being any good at the game, they just copy guides. If you showed me some gameplay of you being on-par with Dub or someone, then that would be a different story.

There aren’t more than a handful (literal) of people who play on really high levels. 5? 10? 15? Maybe less. So I wonder where are all these uh… elitists? I guess he assumes “everyone with a berserker warrior wielding a greatsword: elitist speedrunner. I’m better than them.”
Oh well, I’m better than the average berserker warrior too, that doesn’t make me any good, just less terrible.
