The only complete path I personally ever solo’d was p2, it took no exploits. For me, it took longer than a pug. But I duo often, no exploits, and it’s almost always faster than a pug. You really don’t know what you’re talking about at all.

I’ve done several dungeon paths solo, so maybe I do know what I’m talking about. And nowhere did I mention PUGs. Were you trying to reply to someone else?

It’s basic maths. If a single player in your party can do the same damage you can, you kill the bosses in half the time. If they all do about the same damage, you kill the boss in 1/5th of the time (in fact, less than that, because everyone benefits from each other’s buffs). Maybe you’re just really unlucky and keep getting PUGs made up of four naked level 2 players who don’t move…?

Anyway, I havent bought an AC run yet, but seriously considered it this morning in my 15 minutes before having to run to work.

When I first discovered people were selling this path I always assumed that people just did it several times in a guild group.

Something like this: They do the dungeon once for the dailies, then again in less than ten minutes. Then the owner of the dungeon stays and tries to sell his 4 spots, while the other 4 complete the dungeon once again and completes the path yet again. Now the owner of this dungeon sells his 4 spots and the previous seller joins up with the group again. So 1 sells, 4 speed-clear it and then they just rotate the instance owner and splits the proceeds.

Then when I bought a path to level up one of my alts, I realized that this is by no means how it’s done. Instead everyone exploits the dungeon, and no legitimate seller has a fighting chance.

But is there really no way to report someone doing this. They aren’t botting, they aren’t scamming (they do uphold their end of the bargain), they don’t really abuse the LFG-system either.
So what should one do to help diminish the numbers of all these exploiters? Should one resort to spamming Anet’s mailbox?
Or is it nothing that can be done, other than to be sure to not buy any paths, that is sold on the AC-subsection of the LFG-system?

I only buy 2-3 paths a day (sometimes none, if I can’t get on) I typically get an Arah p2 from randoms (ones that don’t skip Lupi ) and a p3 from a seller with whom I have a good rapport. Sometimes, if I get one before daily, I might grab another right after, but most often not.

I just wish I either had more time to run or that people could start selling CoE.

Yeh, the griefers that knowingly merge parties to destroy sellers instances is pretty demoralizing. Not only was the time you ran the dungeon a complete waste, you know that no matter how many time you report those mergers, nothing will be done about the situation.

Well you can do the same with Arah p2, that’s why there’s so many p2 sellers and the price is so cheap…

1) They could have had someone else help them then leave to maximize slots to sell.
2) How do you know it’s not possible to solo?

I’m not taking a stance on either side but I see way too many assumptions about things that are treated as fact.

If they’re selling for 1.5g or less, it’s definitely exploited.

He did solo runs before they changed the Howling King.

Since the change, you can no longer get it to low HP and sit around until the party fills (unless you use the underwater exploit). The only way to sell it legit is to get the party filled and then kill it 100=>0. That or be a god at kiting the boss and the crapton of gravelings it spawns.

Oh. I was assuming they were referring to getting to the boss, not getting and keeping its health at a certain percentage.

yeah, the LFG system won’t ever be changed and people who merge (aka heitred) won’t ever be banned.

if only we could go back to the old website system. it’s slow but at least it isn’t buggy as kitten (join party spam bug) and wasn’t as easy to grief with (although I remember idiots like atse griefing back then)

So my guildies and I aren’t quite that good, but 3-manning it is quite easy. Sell 2 spots for 1.5g, buyers profit 26s/tokens/time if they aren’t on diminishing returns and we get an extra gold each. We don’t need to hold it at some low hp while doing this. You just wait until they’ve paid and kill it, it takes seconds full to dead.
