Apparently there are quite many dungeon halting bugs. Also there are some positive bugs which violate restricted record rules making them harmful in records and tournaments.

Goal of this topic is to collect as much info as possible from these bugs so I can document them on gw2dungeons.net.

There are lots of questions so feel free to contribute!


AC Story

Kasha doesn’t become hostile.

  • Reproduction: Trigger multiple cutscenes at the same time?
  • Prevention: Ensure cutscenes trigger separately (if you split).
  • Fix: No known fix.

AC P1

Hodgins doesn’t start the burrow event (first scepter)

  • Reproduction: Get Hodgins killed at the flame corridor.
  • Prevention: Make sure he is alive before entering the room.
  • Fix: Run to the far corner to make Hodgins magically spawn on the table.

After P2, Howling King doesn’t spawn

  • Reproduction: Run straight to the boss area
  • Prevention: Do the usual cave-in event.
  • Fix: Do the usual cave-in event.

AC P2

Detha doesn’t begin building traps

  • Reproduction: Detha is in combat when going to the trap area?
  • Prevention: Kill enemies. Use stealth to skip (don’t get in combat). Get whole team and Detha out of combat before going to the trap area?
  • Fix: Getting Detha killed may help

AC P3
Tzark doesn’t start the collector event

  • Reproduction: Get Tzark killed when he talks at start of the collector event.
  • Prevention: When skipping, run to end of the room to lose aggro from ghosts.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Tzark bugs at somepoint

Grast’s shield doesn’t work properly

  • Reproduction: Allow Rumblus to interrupt Grast during shield (his stability only works once)

CM Story

The secret button can’t be pressed and the event is stuck at 2/3 separatists killed.

  • Reproduction: The champion may miss and be in some other area.
  • Prevention: Unknown.
  • Fix: Search the initial area (where you killed the golem) and the basement.

TA F&U

Path doesn’t start after selection.

  • Reproduction: When talking to Morrigu, choose other option than starting the path.
  • Prevention: Choose the path first and then other talk.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Path doesn’t start after selection.

  • Reproduction: Multiple people talk to Morrigu at the same time.
  • Prevention: Only one player should talk to her.
  • Fix: No known fix.

SE P2

Infinite waves of enemies spawn during the escort event

  • Reproduction: Kill the first boss while NPC is dead.
  • Prevention: Ensure NPC is alive when killing the first boss.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Door doesn’t open after escort event

  • Reproduction: Kill the first boss while NPC is dead?
  • Prevention: Ensure NPC is alive when killing the first boss?

Door doesn’t open after escort event

Dredge cart bugs?

  • Reproduction: Someone disconnects or leaves.
  • Prevention: Don’t disconnect or leave.
  • Fix: No known fix.

CoF P1

Slavedriver doesn’t trigger

  • Reproduction: Kill the initial enemies real fast (< 9 seconds).
  • Prevention: In highly coordinated teams, wait a bit.
  • Fix: No known fix.

CoF P2

Magg doesn’t interact with magma stone

  • Reproduction: Stand on top of the magma stone?
  • Prevention: Stand bit further away?
  • Fix: Move bit away?

Magg teleports to people at the waypoint instead of the magma stone

  • Reproduction: Last people entering the waypoint is not in the explosive room.
  • Prevention: Make sure you are clearly in the room before waypointing.
  • Fix: Get Magg to the explosive room and retry?

Can’t hit the end boss Stone

  • Reproduction: Target Stone and try to use melee attacks.
  • Prevention: Remember a good spot or use untargeted attacks.
  • Fix: Try to find a right spot/bit higher ground or use untargeted attacks.

  • Reproduction: Freeze NPC by getting her crystalized and destroying it fast

Arah exp

Every AoE circle doesn’t get drawn at Lupicus

  • Reproduction: Sometimes take damage for no reason
  • Prevention: No known prevention.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Arah P2

Belka doesn’t appear

  • Reproduction: Enter the area while some people (+ NPC) are a lot behind.
  • Prevention: Run together and ensure NPC is with you.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Berserker Abomination’s leap may deal damage at start of the animation.

  • Reproduction: Unknown.
  • Prevention: Unknown.
  • Fix: Seems to happen only once.

Alphard resets to full health during combat

  • Reproduction: Might be caused by Alphard being unable to attack some people.
  • Prevention: Wait until everyone is in the area.
  • Fix: Do more damage.

Bone wall at Alphard doesn’t go down

  • Reproduction: Wipe at Alphard and quickly waypoint
  • Prevention: If you wipe wait a bit before waypointing.
  • Fix: Do a full party wipe or try to jump over the wall with swiftness.

Arah P3

Ritual doesn’t start

  • Reproduction: Use blink to skip “Up the slope” dialogue
  • Prevention: Trigger “Up the slope” dialogue, don’t blink straight up
  • Fix: No known fix.

Wraiths don’t spawn

  • Reproduction: Aggro and deaggro Wraithlord immediately?
  • Prevention: ?

Arah P4

Lyssa doesn’t spawn.

  • Reproduction: Whispers agent? dies at the gate with Abomination.
  • Prevention: Ensure Whispers agent is alive and with you.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Lyssa doesn’t spawn.

  • Reproduction: Whispers agent? dies during her dialogue.
  • Prevention: Use stealth to skip spiders or don’t get near statue until you are clear.

Simin always disappears at 50% health.

Cliffside

Hammer disappears at the last fight.

  • Reproduction: Multiple people trying to pick the hammer at the same time.
  • Prevention: Don’t pick it up if you see someone trying to do it.
  • Fix: Reset the fight.

Mai Trin

Mai doesn’t teleport back after a cannon phase

  • Reproduction: Unknown
  • Prevention: Unknown
  • Fix: Kill Horrik, Mai can’t move anymore but will teleport

Molten Duo

Every AoE circle doesn’t get drawn

  • Reproduction: Sometimes take damage for no reason
  • Prevention: No known prevention.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Molten Furnace

Progress bar at start doesn’t fill

  • Reproduction: Kill enemies really fast before the bar appears.
  • Prevention: Don’t kill anything until the bar appears.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Drill never starts

  • Reproduction: Kill initial enemies too slow, pull them away or get NPCs killed (not sure which)
  • Prevention: Don’t try anything fancy.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Doors to the testing area never open

  • Reproduction: Frostbite stays behind fighting enemies or is dead when you approach the area.
  • Prevention: Make sure Frostbite is alive and with you at all times.
  • Fix: No known fix.

Snowblind

Elemental Source may put invisible Swirling Winds

  • Reproduction: Random.
  • Prevention: Unknown.
  • Fix: Pay attention to damage taken and dodge out.

Thaumanova

Your character becomes invisible.

  • Reproduction: Use an exit teleporter.
  • Prevention: Don’t use an exit teleporter.
  • Fix: Relog or enter the superheated room again

No prompt for the next level.

  • Reproduction: Unknown.
  • Prevention: Unknown.

Everyone crashes to the desktop.

  • Reproduction: Unknown.

  • Fix: One player shouldn’t close the error report pop up. This keeps the instance alive until other people can reconnect.

The barrier won’t open after killing Old Tom

  • Reproduction: Don’t trigger the checkpoint at top of the stairs by using blinks and portal.

I’m pretty certain the elementalist hammer bug is not related to attunement swapping. I’ve never seen it happen to me or my party members eventhough we often use fresh air procs to kill a chanter faster to get a charge.

Yeah ive never seen the hammer disappear on ele. Not heard of anyone losing it like that either. There was an engi related bug like that with kit swaps but i believe that was fixed. Its probably some confusion relating to that.

There’s another version of this, where you do get the prompt, but once everyone readies up, the server fails to create the next map; someone in the party even gets an Error Window saying the server failed to create a new instance.

Hi everyone, this maybe is not a bug, or maybe is just something normal that evolves in a bug, but here I got:

AC Path 3:
Giant Lizard fight (Colossus Rumblus)

When Grast is casting the dome to protect the players during the earthquake. If he gets a Knockback, he will stand up and continue casting the dome as if the dome was not casted (During that time the Earthquake is over and the first dome still worked).

But if a second earthquake wave comes up, he will do the animation of the of the dome but this time the Dome will be false, allowing the rock to pass and kill the players.

The best way that my group found to “fix” this bug. (Which, once again the bug is not the knockback but the false dome few seconds after during the next Earthquake) is having a guardian or any other class (If there’s any way) to grant npc Grast some Stability. Since he wont has to “recast” the shield the cooldowns of his ability are setup for the next wave.

This has only happened to me twice, both after the stability change.

CoE P3 (possibly any path);
The dungeon is completed and you receive only the daily chest, not the chest with experience+20 tokens.
Reproduction: I believe it happens when Agent Spire gets crystal glitched. Crystal glitch happens when someone is locked in the purple crystal by Alpha and broken out too quickly, causing them to be frozen in place (like the box of fun Petrified effect)
Fix: Wping around the dungeon then going back to the front door seemed to fix it. She might also unstick herself eventually.
Prevention: Wait a moment before breaking the crystal, but the reality is this happens from cleave because no one cares about npcs. Watch where she is hanging out and lower your dps I suppose.

This is just a result of stability being overlooked on NPC’s when they changed it. Both Detha and Grast suffer from this. Detha gets chain CC’d while charging traps and grast gets interrupted when doing the bubble. They should have perma stability but it gets stripped by CC. Also the perma stability on mobs like earth elementals in molten facility fractal gets stripped by CC.

tl;dr Anet needs to fix NPC/mob perma stability.

Seems that this happens when the trap event earlier fails and you respawn (too fast?), which causes the event not to reset. -> you complete event but detha will not trigger next one.
Have yet to try if it happens when you wait until Detha is dead at the traps.

This indeed happens because the npc gets crystalled, you have to wait roughly half a minute, then she gets unstuck.

SE p2:
Endboss golems don’t spawn/become aggressive
Reproduction: letting the NPC take aggro and get killed by the bombers after blowing up the door with the mining car.
Prevention: Stealth after the glowing rock event, so the NPC doesn’t get aggro and dies before the cutscene after the 5 mining suits triggers.
Fix: no fix available.

Infinite waves of dredge spawning during the escort event
Reproduction: let the NPC die to the group of dredge before the gate with the chain next to it, then don’t res him before you trigger the first boss.
Prevention: making sure none of the NPCs which feature in cutscenes die.
fix: no fix available.

A lot of these bugs are caused by NPCs dying before/during cutscenes. WTB invuln, non-aggressive NPCs

There’s another bug you didn’t mention, on the Molten Duo map for FotM.

Sometimes you get hit by burning and agony, like you were in a fire zone from the Firestorm, but there’s nothing showing on the ground (no red circle, no fire effect). So you can’t know at all when it will happen, or where is actually safe.

There’s no way to prevent it, you can just realize you’re in a zone fast to get out, but you’ll still get hurt badly.

IIRC, I have got it work after killing her. The event might be multistepped so depending on when it bugs you may get different results.

Weth, I think you can add the snowblind elemental source to the list too. At first I thought it was an intended change, but I’ve noticed a LOT of very odd hitbox/interact range changes with objects/structures since that update.

A perfect example of it is for example the door at the first part of the orbs puzzle in Arah P3/P4. Anyone who has done Arah the past few weeks has noticed something odd, how you basically have no choice but to run along the right side or click to target the corrosive light globe to put the light orb in, otherwise you’ll be interacting with the door for some reason despite being really far away.

It seems like it’s just a backend change/bug that affected a lot of things, so the hitbox of the snowblind elemental source’s top probably is just located in a very bizarre spot rather than removed like a lot of people have speculated. I’m going to test by doing ice spikes on elementalist in further locations to see if any damage numbers pop up, because unless the hitbox is far underground or something it should be still possible to destroy… assuming that I’m right about it.

Don’t use hylek pots near the end of the cannon phase/near where she spawns back. Hylek pots for some reason cause a lot of bugs with mobs/bosses.

Molten Facility fractal – At the very start after you talk to Rox. If you use AOE and do too much damage so you kill the molten dredge before they finish spawning you will not get credit for every enemy. Which will result in an incomplete progress bar. Which means the drill wont trigger. And seeing as no new molten alliance will spawn you will have to restart the fractal.

Basically dont kill the molten alliance at the portal too fast or before the progress bar appears. We were running 5 eles for the lols when we discovered this bug. :P

You need to wait for the event progress bar to appear in the top right. As long as nothing dies before then its fine. Any you kill before don’t progress the event as it didn’t start.

The pet will create an extra Teeth of Jormag in P2 and P3 though, but is mostly a melee creature so it shouldn’t spawn an extra Teeth of Primordus in P1 and P2.

I’ve gotten it fixed with killing Detha but i’ve seen killing her not work, no clue what was different between the runs.

If you kill Old Tom before passing the checkpoint at top of the stairs (with the laser projectiles) the barrier after him won’t open.
Wiping or getting the checkpoint afterwards doesn’t help

Snowblind fractal has invisible swirling winds at the elemental source still.

Mossman is disbaled upon entering water? Should this be included, technically he doesn’t have the underwater skills to use. I guess the bug would be teleporting to players when they go into the water.

Arah p2 abomination does instantaneous leaps once in a while where the damage occurs at the start of the animation, not when he comes down, after it occurs it is fixed.

Arah p4 won’t make lupi aggressive if you select path after killing the 2 abomination door guards. Solution, mountain goating is bad, run the path in order.

SE p3 has some bugs with safe-spotting bosses and messing with the AI at the clown cart, they aren’t harmful to you per se…

From the notes “Fixed a bug in which the attack targets of some bosses could not be hit by melee or ground-targeted attacks.”
I was hoping that this would fix cof p2 final boss, but it did not. Standing on the rock does still work though =/

CM Story
The champ just before the secret door doesn’t spawn and the event gets stuck at “separatists killed 2/3”. The switch to open the secret door doesn’t activate and the party can’t progress further.
Fix: look for the champ, we found it near chest that spawns after killing the golem at start.
Reason: no clue

Just add at thurmanova anomaly when whole party gets dc-ed out of fractals (happened to me 5-6 times) the game completly crashes to desktop, make sure one of the party member doesn’t close error report pop up window that appears and let someone get back ingame and enter fractal again. If all players close it everyone loses progress.

Bone wall at Alphard doesn’t go down

  • Reproduction: Wipe at Alphard and quickly waypoint
  • Prevention: If you wipe wait a bit before waypointing.
  • Fix: Do a full party wipe.

Has anyone tried the “wait a bit before waypointing” recently? I could have sworn I’ve done that (waited until bone wall exploded, then WP) and it didn’t work.

For me personally, this is one of the most annoying “minor” bugs in the game, especially when that fool Yissa bounces a ball of death onto me.

Getting new stickies added or old stickies removed seems to require a miracle, so I seriously doubt this will ever get a sticky, regardless of how much it may deserve it.

I was hopeful after the patchnotes said that the hitbox for bosses was fixed, but the top of the elemental in Snowblind still does not take damage forcing groups to deal with his projectiles and knockdowns on top of all those ice elementals.

Survivable, but not sure if this is an intended change.

Also, in the molten Fractal, you can melee the groups that spawn in the beginning and during the weapon test before they actually spawn. I think we managed to kill the protector before he even appeared, but he either way he didn’t spawn after the second weapon test was completed as is normal.

This was all at scale 50.

If you kill the first two turrets and the mobs after the first door in less than ~9 seconds, ferrah will not start the next dialog to trigger the slavedriver.

No idea.

Anyways, I updated the original post. I didn’t include bugs which required heavy exploiting (goating) or were beneficial to the player (exploits).

Lupi’s autoattack? His dome? Did we ever find out if those were intentional or bugged? He also still teleports to the far side of the room and will use other skills during his shadowstep making the animations effectively non-existent.

This is a question. In AC P2 when the party wipes at the trap/lizard event, this would bug the path out and the door to the final trap room wouldn’t open/Detha wouldn’t build the traps for final boss. Last time, after the party wipe, I tried to rezz Detha before the rest of party killed the grawling champ that spawns during the trap event and we finished the path fine. First time ever I remember that party got killed there and p2 didn’t bug out.

Did anyone try this/can confirm that rezzing detha before killing grawling champ helps prevent her bugging out later? I thought maybe cos the event has 2 event bars (kill small graveling and kill graveling champ) so perhaps when people kill the champ while Detha is dead, the npc doesn’t register that event as done?

If detha dies the event fails, but the champion won’t despawn, you have to res detha and talk to her to restart, which usually includes killing the champ to not waste time in a combat res.

Do we consider the fact that in coe laser jumping puzzle, the double panels can be done by a sinle player activating a single panel (but standing inbetween the two) a bug?
