Here you can observe one of the two people in the game who know how to play ranger. He, along with the other four members, have auto attack turned on. Turning auto attack off is just asking to lose DPS. This is actually a big reason why sword ranger is overhyped, because next to no one can (consistently) pull off the paper DPS in practice.

I don’t think he dodged once in that video, so I’m not sure that’s a good example….

Ok, I see~ I thought it was going to demonstrate how to dodge with the AA turned on. My bad~

I can’t make it work unless i swap….

You can force yourself out of the aa chain with skills – lightning reflexes/dagger 4/other – mostly. If you want an easy time. You can also move away from your target a little (again, inbetween attacks). Helps if you need to stay in wor or [other scenario]. Not super hard – yeah yeah I know only a chosen few super leet pros can do that; I feel like it’s just a matter of practice. All the attacks are scripted anyway, you do have plenty of time to plan your dodges, since you might have a small delay if you get caught in the chain.
If you can, don’t disable the aa.
But this is going offtopic…

It actually makes 6/6/0/0/2 slightly better, and this was always the “maximum DPS” option for mesmer anyway. But it makes the more common reflection + focus based builds really bad.

Since the GM dueling traits now suck I think 6/4/0/0/4 could be better if phantasmal haste is fixed (haven’t tested)
