PuG Fotm 50s
And here I was thinking that we meleed the archdiviner because a guardian is block-tanking him, that no harpies actually need to be killed in the harpy fractal to stealth past each portion, that if you did want to kill harpies there’s no need to 1200 range them, that both dredge fractal bosses can be meleed, etc.
Worth continually repeating, 50 pug. Nothings so sad as seeing a group try a tactic that technically works but they don’t have the group setup or coordination to pull off.

They can be, but pugging is pugging. Unless you specify otherwise, people with different playstyles can join your group.
For sure, meleeing is the most efficient way. But it’s not the only viable way — some people just play differently, or want to use a different build when speed is not the top priority
And again, at level 50 meleeing most or all of those examples have a lot of prerequisites and requires a fairly even skill level.
It’s not the most efficient if the group can’t pull it off.
Of course he was bloody camping the rifle, he camped the bloody rifle the entire bloomhunger fight so I kicked him lol.
I mean kitten I’m not gonna get mad at a guardian changing to scepter or warrior to longbow because the pug comp isnt optimal for the encounter.
i thought guardian scepter was good for bloom due to it being a large hitbox character
yeah i meant i don’t just go hurhnnng range = kick.

I had heard he was medium making it an “ok” choice but not a good choice, if that makes sense. Basically he doesn’t get all the hits so you aren’t doing superior damage but you aren’t doing bad damage.
I’d love to hear more about that though.
Scepter & focus/torch is the best choice for Bloomhunger on guardian. Smite and torch 4 hits like a truck on it.
also is there a list somewhere of all the consumables needed for fractals?
Skate venom, Harpy feathers, whispers and ash legion kits. Rest is just fluff and overkill that can be achieved with proper usage of class skills.

Very nice to hear

Bandit potions work on Cliffside, but yeah generally potions you might alraedy have for dungeons, if not skale venom is a good options (weakness is nice and vuln is always good).

I’ve never once been on a pug team where any of these things has happened… save for killing harpies in melee range….. but like i said you dont just teleport from harpy to harpy….. you make your way to them, and while you are doing the jumping puzzle it doesn’t hurt to do dps with range until you make it to melee range….. and by the time you get there at most you will have time for one 100b before the harpy is dead.
Half the time pugs don’t even stealth past the harpies as sad as that sounds…… they do it with reflects. Though when they do stealth, they always kill one or two to eliminate the need to reapply stealth midway through, since it requires too much coordination for a pug team.
Even some organized groups do this.

None are even remotely needed, the lists these guys have are ‘nice to haves’ though.
I pug 50s daily and generally I never have bad experiences. The small percentage of the time that I do I truly believe is due to people getting 70 AR and assuming they are ready for FoTM 50 disregarding their own personal reward level.
I somewhat miss the character based- level based system where you had to do 1-50 on each character and couldn’t do a higher level until you’d actually gotten there yourself.
While this understandably is a minority -probably just me- view I think it at least meant when you were doing 50 and beyond you could be sure everyone else in your team was going to be experienced.
I dont fractal anymore.
<Vietnam like flashback> PUT THE STAFFS AWAY PUT THEM AWAY…
For many reasons already listed.

You could always do what ever level you wanted just have someone join who had the proper level… how do you thing people leveled and still got maw every time way back when? Also back then people were even worse at fractals shudders I still do this day will not fully pug a 30 or under.

Agreed…. generally speaking, when pugging FotM the higher the difficulty scale, the fewer inexperienced players you will get.
This becomes especially troublesome at 20-30 because the difficulty increase vs player skill increase doesn’t match and what you get is a bunch of players who don’t grasp all of the mechanics (that never needed to be grasped prior to 20).
Like dragging all the ice elementals to the team during the snowblind fractal….
How to efficiently break the arm seals on cliffside… etc.
In addition, you get fewer fails in areas like: putting the wisps in, preventing the grawl from killing captives, getting the door open for dredge, etc.
Its just that sweet spot for 20-30 where player skill does not match increased difficulty.
I think most people in fotm 50 know what they are doing but for the most part it is mainly because everyone’s strategy is different. A good example is snow blind fractal where I was playing thief and they wanted me to destroy the elemental source top instead of their ele or warrior. I personally thought it was stupid because
1: cluster bomb takes forever to kill the source and it is not a set and forget skill like the warrior F1 longbow burst. So if I am ever knocked down it will take much longer than expected(and a good wombo combo knockdown chain means GG.) Set and forget skills for source top is the way to go imo.
2: The veteran eles are more dangerous and it is better to allocate the thief to blind them.
3: I burn all my initiative trying to kill the source top and afterwards I am useless for 12secs.
Anyways maybe it worked for them when they had another thief but we wiped 3 times there.
