I am still loving these dungeons but the patch changed the rewards. I dont want to run PUGs really, I wanted to create a guild wich contains a lot of dungeon loving people so they can form parties they know each other they can help each other. What do you think it does make any sense still or dungeons will be deserted soon or part of the daily “must run them once and go and do something else” thing?

There’s already some “Dungeon guild” existing.

On NA server, the most famous Dungeon / fractal guilds are DnT (http://www.dtguilds.com) and LOD

And for EU there’s also some guild which focus on dungeons like [HC] Define

Let me cap how it will go when you create a new guild (not that I don’t want you to, just to save you a painful process). You’ll start off with low requirements, and people that are likeminded, hoping to start a good guild. At first you’re going to struggle, because it takes time and effort to become fast and good, and the failures you will inevitably face will demotivate some people. New players will get turned off because the quality of runs will only be slightly better (or maybe even worse) than most PUGs. You’ll struggle to maintain ranks, and some people that finally got some experience might (and some will, trust me), change guilds to either [DnT], [LOD], [HC], [SOLO], [DS] and the likes, because they know runs are better there, and because they have some experience, they’ll probably get in. You might lose officers etc, and on the off chance that your guild might actually work, it’s going to take a long time, a lot of effort and a lot of drama before you can call yourself a dungeon speedclear guild.

If you’re going to try doing this on your own, I’d like to tell you now: don’t. It’s going to fail. The only way this might work is if you have a bunch of friends that you know and trust, that would want to do the same thing. And by a bunch, I mean at least 6-8, with whom you can practice, and get tactics and runs down to <20mins for the easy dungeon paths. Once you got some standards, you should start inviting new people, take them on runs (not too many at once), and because you’ll have new people, standards will lower a bit. Stop inviting new people until they’re also exp enough to get smooth, fast runs, and invite new people. If you have too many new people at once, you’ll make groups that are 2/3 or 1/4 with new guys, and you might as well be PUGing.

If you want an easier solution, join one of the big, established guilds. If you don’t want to, find some dedicated people first, and follow the process I proposed. Jumping head first into it is bound to fail.

You guys got me confused with your 17.5s lupi video. I’ll remember it for future reference.

I came up with the idea of beating the lastest record of HC (41 seconds) and we dedicated that one to DS to get the guild some attention. While doing the 39 second kill we found out that skipping phase 3 is possible. So we did another kill skipping phase 3 (28 seconds) and dedicated that one to [SOLO] because 4 of us were in that guild and only 3 in [DS]. I went on vacation then and can’t exactly tell what was happening but i guess they just saw room for improvement and wanted to do better.
Last one has now been done by us (DS) because we saw a lot improvement possible for phase 1. Have been unlucky with RNG though and will improve further later.

Probably making a new guild is really bound to fail. I already checked the big dungeon guilds requirements such as HC. (i am on Eu, Piken Square). I have the DM title, but i havent really into fractals yet.

Based on your experience, my advice would be to pug like a mad man and cultivate a good friends list. Build the community of friends you currently lack, and then follow Bright’s advice for building the guild around a core of friends.

EU is based more around friend list from what I heard. Plus, some guilds like HC have really silly requirements for my taste.

Lol, you think [HC] has silly requirements? I know they require DM (which [DnT] used to do too I seem to recall), and some Fractal exp, but they’re nothing compared to what [DL] used to require back in GW1… And they still got applicants, even way past their heydays (although most scrubs had no idea the guild got terrible after 2010).

But yeah, there are only a few guilds back in GW1 that I know of that took off from the get-go, but that’s because they consisted of experienced members of older guilds that left and started new guilds ([Zraw], [NAME], [HRUU], and the likes). If you want to start one on yourself, you need to at least have experience yourself, or have a core to start with. Either PUG (don’t recommend it, because they won’t teach you anything), or find some good friends, look at guides on youtube (there’s plenty of them, and although I don’t enjoy admitting it, Stife’s guides are pretty good, although slightly outdated, but a good starting point), try to achieve similar results and start from there.

Oh, and use voice programs. Vent or TS3 are the best ones imo (although raidcall and mumble are supposedly good as well, but I’ve never used them), with TS3 >>>> Vent. Voice chat makes everything smoother, better, and more fun.

Oh, and start off with a safe setup, not the fast setup. Don’t start of running stuff like dual LH ele’s, because you’ll fail miserably. Try using the classic 1G/3W/1X setup first, because it’s the safest and easiest one to start with and requires less coordination than the more complicated, but stronger team builds.

I wish you the best with your endeavors though. Competition between guilds is always a good thing, because it inspires innovation, and as far as I’m aware, EU only has 2 guilds against each other ([HC] and [DS]), although I don’t think [DS] is that populated.

TS3 is really good. Mumble is really low latency and high quality, just a pretty poor interface. Raidcall I havent used much, seems fairly decent though.

I only played pvp in gw1 so I can’t really relate to DL or any other pve guild.

Forcing people to play “mains” is in my opinion very limiting and unwanted for some people, including me. Of course, playing one profession should make you better utilize tools at your disposal but since gw2 is not exactly a rocket science I’d say that knowledge about encounters should help you utilize different professions at very similiar level even if you play for the first time on those profession.

If I ever tried to recruit people, my only requirement would be to have a functioning brain.

There isn’t really competition between HC and DS (i’ve been in both, left HC a few days ago because they didn’t fit my main expectations for a guild) because we both aim for completely different goals. HC is a great guild for doing dungeons overall, DS aims on getting runs of specific content as efficient done as possible before participating in other content.

For some it’s important to have teamspeak, dungeon master and fractal level 40+ to actively participate in whatever the guild does. Our requirements are almost only based on player’s skill and mentality, for our playing purposes having above listed things just isn’t important.

if you do create one…go ahead and invite me in it, i love dungeons and would absolutely love to not have to minimize the game to find a group of people.

Well i not really understand why i need to have 30+ fractal for some guilds.
These guilds advertised as dungeon guilds. I am experienced, have TS3, have Dungeon master title, doing COE all path, HoTW, TA and Arah normally.
I know my char and i know how to dodge. I guess that is all what needed. Fractal 30+ shows that i can….run fractals 30 times with a party?
I know it is hard and showing you are experinced but all with your knowledge with all the dungeons it is already proved i guess…

Of course if i would apply to a fractal guild it is a different story:)

Dante i will keep your name in my mind if i will make a guild. Honestly hard to find players who want to join. Most players already in guild and even if they are not happy with it they dont like to switch to a new unkown guild.

It sounds easy doesn’t it? Then again, I doubt you have to sift through dozens of applications a month. Once you have to deal with that amount of applications, all of whom think they have skills and a winner mentality, you will have to come up with systems to trim down the pool of applicants.

We probably won’t ever have. Those who apply to us must be able of solo’ing some game encounters anyway if they don’t provide other things like cookies n beer.

considering I do not always have lots of time to play but when I do It is generally in good chunks.

However I am not experienced at all in the dungeons in this game but want to learn, ie unable/unwilling to join elitist dungeon guilds
