I noticed in alot of other mmo’s that trash mobs are weaker and don’t really have mechanics to make them die …pretty much beat them down and they are usually your size.
When you get to a “Boss” though you can tell that it is so, because he towers over the group, the size of this kind of mob is very discernible. He will usually require some kind of mechanic to successfully make a kill.
What I really liked about those fights is, I can see what needs to be avoided …alot of indicators are more revealing when the entire group can see the pose that he takes or the lighting bolts that are now coming out of the lower extremities. And there is some kind of learning curve to one shot mechanics where you start taking damage and you have a small but doable amount of time to move out of the damage.
Now in GW2 there are these kind of encounters , but usually they are just a Zerg-fest a dps race for the group.
I find it hard to see the smaller boss encounters that are more prevalent, because these guys are our size and a lot of magic spells are going off and melee is right next to them too.
