Swapping character at the end of Dungeon
If you plan on switching chars at the last second to lvl them up do not make the dungeon instance. Let someone else walk in the dungeon 1st and then join when it pops up to join them.
I hate when people make the instance and switch at the boss thus kicking everyone out because you wanted to lvl a dif char…It is why I always try to be the 1st person in the dungeon as pugs have done this to me a few times.
There is no honour in such cheat to level characters, i can’t say i’m sorry for you. Nevertheless, you were the instance creator both times, there is no other explanation. Please notice that group creator is not the same as dungeon creator.

Note also that the p2 cutscenes is way too short to allow you to log back into the dungeon; you’ll need to leave before the boss is dead, which can be frustrating for the rest of your group. P3 and P1 both have long cutscenes, which allow you to relog after the boss dies.
Honestly, if you aren’t aware that an instance creator can’t swap characters then you don’t really deserve the privilege (not the right) of leveling your alts this way. Your little test runs screwed a total of 8 people out of their dungeon rewards.
That’s almost as bad as instance owners who leave as soon as they get their chests at the end. I’ve lost out on CoF 1 boss loot AND the final chest several times because the cut scene is so short and I don’t always remember to get into position when the boss is almost dead. It’s stupid I have to worry about changing position just for that.
There’s nothing wrong with swapping at the end but there are a couple of things to bear in mind.
if you plan to swap you can’t start the dungeon, (as already stated). swapping a character is what kills the instance.
if you are pugging, make a note in LFG that you intend to swap at the end, or once the party is formed you should let everyone know your intentions. Most people are ok with it, but most people also do not like surprises.
lastly if pugging be sure to say thanks for allowing you to swap at the end after loot has been awarded, a little courtesy goes a long way

Let me clarify that in all three attempts i did mention that i intented to swap character and most agreed or didnt say no. I know it’s still frustrating but this is why i created this topic. To avoid this happening again.
Spare me the lecture pls.
Can someone explain what is the difference between group and dungeon creator?
I thought that both are the same and it is the one that creates the new group on LFG.

The person who opens the dungeon “owns” the instance, and if they leave party or change characters it will end the instance.

Hello,
Today i tried three times to switch character at the end of ascalonian catacombs. The first one was succesfull (P1) but the last two (P2) ended with the group being kicked out of the dungeon and we had to restart it all over again.
Someone said it might have been the fact that i was the party creator so the last time i joined in another’s party and again it failed.
Does anyone know how to avoid this??
I am obviously doing this because i want to level up my secondary character.
Thx in advance
so probably, for the last 2 parties, you joined them but you also entered the dungeon 1st (making you the dungeon creator).

Further, there is no such thing as the group creator, group owner, or group leader. No special imprimatur is given to any particular member of the party, other than the person who opens the dungeon. People who might claim any rights to “my group” or “my LFG” are making things up.
