I see lots of people complaining about the difficulty of dungeons, but not one person actually specifying a particular problem. So I’ll try start a thread where people can ask any question about any path of any dungeon including story. I tried looking for a similar thread but could not find one. It would be nice if this was stickied.
I’ll start with a few tips for Ascalonian Catacombs, these are the very small things I tell to people who are doing it for the first time:
____________
Ascalonian Catacombs
Things which can cause difficulty:
Lieutenant Kholer
Firstly, pull him away from the adds (2 ghosts). If the troll spawns, kite them both until they start fighting (I’m pretty sure this isn’t an exploit, it makes sense that they are supposed to fight). If not, the main attack Kholer has is the pulling-spinny-insta death attack. There is an animation you have to learn, as soon as he starts it you must either dodge, hide behind a pillar or activate block (such as Aegis). A guardian with a mace/focus is extremely useful here, because of the 2 blocking skills and Virtue of Courage. If you fail to dodge, he pulls you in and 90% of the time you will go in to downed mode.
I think you only have to kill him on the Ghost eater and Colossus path. You can leave him on the King path, but you will not get the chest and the useful waypoint.
Howling King:
When you have to defend Hodgins from the gravelings, killing the burrows is the highest priority, and you must do it in the right order. First off, take the whole group to the western burrow and kill it, and leave at least 1 person to defend Hodgins while the rest of the group kills the next burrow that spawns, not the other starting burrow. Once those are both down, a third will spawn next to the 2nd starting burrow. Everyone can join in again to kill this one, and then move on to kill the 2nd starting burrow. Then kill the next two that will spawn (the hard part is the beginning, when the group will have to split).
The rest is easy. The howling king can cause problems, make sure to kill off any adds first, and when he does his attack you should stand behind him if possible.
Ghost eater:
This path should not cause any problems. In the part where you have to defend Detha, make sure each party member takes a chain to pull, OR have 4 on the chains and 1 down on the floor to keep all the gravelings in the chain-death area.
On the part where she builds the cannons, stay with Detha and do not split too much. Keeping Detha alive is a prority. Anti-condition builds are good for this one.
The Ghost eater is easy to kill.
Tzark’s Colossus
This is the trickiest, but this path is the same length as the other two if done properly.
The hard part is when you have to defend the 2 extractors. The priority is to kill the burrows. High DPS is needed. Assign one person to gather gravelings that attack the extractors, and pull them to the rest of the group so they can be killed. You should NOT get to a point where you are at one extractor trying to defend without killing the burrows, too many will spawn and you will die.
But that’s just to start. Ask any questions about any dungeons and hopefully someone will answer.
