Why are you making Fractals much more easier?
You can’t break defiance by standing there and pressing 1.
I agree it’s not all that hard to kill the Cap’n in T4, without fixing the bug. However, it’s also annoying that breaking defiance doesn’t interrupt his current channeling, the way it does for every other skill for all other foes with defiance bars.
Left up to me, I wouldn’t have prioritized this change. However, if the team was working on related mechanics and someone said that they could throw this change in, too, I’d accept the offer.
In any case, this hardly makes “fractals much …easier”; it’s just a single bug fix (reported ages ago) in a single fractal.
Its a bug fix. There’s no good reason for a single mob to not have its channeled attack be interrupted if you break its defiance bar while its casting it.
Its nothing more than that.
Something to consider, this actually gives melee builds a counter play option for when he begins channeling. Fractals already heavily favor ranged damage builds. This was previously another example of that. If Ashym started channeling meteor shower on himself, melee builds had to just dodge out and wait. Now they can quickly break him, and stay in melee range (similar to break bar on final boss of chaos fractal).
Well you need to make “End-Game” content more “accessible” right? :-)
“Breaking Captain Ashym in the Urban Battleground Fractal will now cancel his Meteor Shower ability.”
The Meteor Shower for Captain OP here should stay even if we break his break bar.
Why must it be cancel?
So that novice players learn what the blue bar below the target hp is for.
It does make it easier for the veteran players, but let’s be real, it’s not relevant at all. Captain Ashym is not a challenge for us no matter how you look at it. There’s no difference if he gets easier or not, we’ll still clear it with the same amount of (no) effort.
No. On the contrary. It actually tells players to break the bat OR avoid the rain. It’s an extra putin option to deal with the boss. How is your idea different from the current reality? Walking out of the aoe ring and autoattack with a ranged weapon

Yeah but they didnt buff anything to balance out the huge nerf. That was the case before but you had to cc him the moment he started casting meteor shower. You had really tight cc windows which for groupds who could pull it off felt good and the nerf just makes him even easier.

you could actually interupt it before too but with a much much tighter cc window.

I used to run Tempest Staff, but since staff got nerf to hell, I run Scepter/Warhorn. And my style is to get in close to Captain OP to drop all the fire skill on him then pop Overload Fire before turning Air and drop Overload Air. then back to fire. And I get attack my his meteor shower most of time. I just dodge and run towards him in another direction. As for the breakbar, I tried to break it, but most of the pugs don’t do it usually……. unless I am in a group that knows what they are doing……
This change was welcome, a bug fix, and provides counterplay. It’s good on all fronts, and doesn’t even make the fight easier in any meaningful way.
I personally wouldn’t call it easier, just fairer. I mean, ranged classes never had trouble with the meteor shower. It was mostly melee classes who had to walk away from the bosses, wait 5 seconds with nothing happening, and return to the boss. Now, the six forbids, anet allows the melee classes to defend themselves and you casters lash back at everything that moves..
The QQ about this change is pretty hilarious. What exactly does it change, except that melee life might (in a few cases) become a tiny bit easier?

making melee viable via skill dependence is a bad thing ?
10/10 logic being used.

esp with pl crying the last couple of fractals and fractal reworks are melee unfriendly
Pressing V once or twice ain’t that difficult either… this was just a bug fix.

Well whats the problem then if people dont break the bar, as you state here yourself.
He is no easier now compared to before.
Breaking the bar should stop the ability, that’s the whole point of breaking the bar,to stop big attacks from bosses.
