Why so much hate for dungeon sellers?
I disagree on your second point though. Basically you said you like getting things for free : “I’ll only come if I can get silvers and tokens”. Which means you get payed to be rewarded. There is a problem here. Someone sells you tokens, they don’t give them
Well, they don’t do it anymore. I don’t remember the exact numbers but it was something like you’d get 3g76s and 60 tokens for “completing” the dungeon, and give the seller 3g50s. The only reason not to buy it every day was if you wanted to run it yourself, which I didn’t, and still don’t. I think I’ve done a total of 6 legit arah runs, that was enough.
Btw speaking of hate, I got kicked twice today while selling my legit AC. And some nasty people instajoined to remove my LFG…
Lastly I got some people saying “I pay you after completion”.

There’s an attitude amongst many players, not the hardcore MMO players usually, that the game is there to be experienced. Challenges are there to be faced. Some sort of skill and capability brings success and fun. This is quite different from an attitude that believes the game is there for virtual gold and the challenge and experience is boring. Selling dungeons relies on the second attitude and it offends people with the first attitude. The natural question is why people would spend their real life time buying a path for virtual gain and virtual rewards if they don’t actually enjoy playing the game themselves.
That is so wrong. But its ok. People of a particular group usually have problem to figure out how a second group work or think.
Usually the people that buy are not people that don’t like the game or find that challenge and experience is boring. That would be silly and that is just an untrue, lazy explanation. These people all have motivation of their own. Usually, either they don’t like Dungeons in general (the game is huge, they could prefer to do WvW or sPvP, etc and they could be casual or hardcore), or they like dungeon but don’t have time or don’t want to do someone specific. Here several legits reason to buy a path :
1) I want to level up a character fast. Because i already level up 3-4 characters, i don’t really want to do the leveling again. I did the content like 3-4 weeks ago and I don’t want to do it again. I just want to have a level 80 quickly so i can do the stuff i like with it. So why not just buy a couples of dungeon to level up fast so I can spend my time playing with other character that i prefer to play with and when the new character is level 80, then i can start to play the content I like with him and not forcing myself into 20-30 hours of content I don,t want to do anymore.
2) I’m a hardcore WvWers. I play several hours per days to help my server and my guild to outperform the enemies. But i really hate PvE and just don’t get how people can be interested in playing againt NPC when you can play against real human that react differently each time. So except a couple of stuff with some friend i never play PvE. But i’m an hardcore WvWers and I want my looks to be epic so I want a legendary. But kitten , i’m suppose to do 8-9 path of a single dungeon over and over again. I don’t like PvE, i don’t even have a PvE build, i don’t know and don’t want to know the dungeon. Then i’ll just buy a couple run of the dungeon and get the thing done without forcing me into a content that I don’t appreciate.
3) I’m casual players and i play with my casual friends. It took us several months to get to level 80 and we started to go into dungeons We only play together and we usually have only 1-2 hours when we play. We tried Arah once, but after 3 hours everybody were really frustrated and we all had to go. But still, we want some pieces of equipment from Arah to gear up our characters or some of us want the Dungeon Master title. We do everythings else for title, but Arah is just too long for the time we can put in the game. We can simply buy some Arah path and be done with it, so we can continue to play the part of the game that we enjoy.
These are some pretty good reason why to buy a path. For the sellers, they just like to solo (its a challenge for them) and they can make money out of it, because there is a market for that.
It’s very annoying when you’re looking to pug the dungeon and all you see is group after group, selling the path. It makes it harder to see a legit group.
This, and I despise the fact that some of the groups that are selling might actually have just kicked a member at the end. (May not be occurring as much as I think though)
If you’re seeing lots and lots of people selling a specific path it is less likely that they’re kicking people and more likely that the path is easily exploitable. Not all path sellers use exploits but for a lot of the commonly sold paths you’ll have chappy players who can’t actually solo anything. This is bad for the legit path sellers so naturally all of us want to see these exploits fixed and these knockoff sellers to be stopped
Still scratching my head how they fixed SE and TA but left Arah2… SE/TA just really saves time, Arah2, you skip lupi… I can’t be the only one thinking they got their priorities mixed up right?

GW2 is the worst community I’ve seen in an MMO, No way in hell would I trust someone to pay after completion. When you’re in a community you can’t trust to even read (lfg notes people, they are meant to be read)I woudln’t trust them with anything.

Must not have played many mmo’s
Really, the loudest people on the forums are nearly always the worst.

You don’t mean that. Right? Haha
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.

Well, I stuck well away from WoW so… yeah, I guess i haven’t seen the worst, but just yeah… the lack of compassion in this community is pretty bad. As a seller I see people trying to get in and not pay far more often than I would expect. And just as a player PUGing i see people ignore the LFG notes more often than I see people fit what was asked for.
So maybe I’m spoiled but I’m use to people sending tells and asking “hey, i’m in valkyrie, but I know the dungeon if you’ll take me” or just not even trying to join the group. So again, maybe I’m spoiled but the community is very rough here and i would not trust a stranger in this game personally.
Your right about the thread so I apologize about my previous post but IMO the harder something is the more rewarding it should be, soloing is one of the hardest things to do in this game if not the hardest. So making other farms (Which are almost all mind numbing easy) shouldn’t have the same income as soloing. I go back to what I said before they did the hard work, even if they can do it well now it took time and effort to learn, they should be able to reap the rewards.

There needs to be a PSA for what adverts really mean I always hate it when people join zerk groups as a Sword/Sheild warrior and say hey, I have zerk armor. And the amount of people who don’t know what SC means makes me sad.

It means Snow Crows ! Amirite ?
