Q:

Is it allowed to sell an arah run where I placed a reflecting skill on the wall to kill lupi?

It’s a cheesy tactic not an exploit.

I saw on the lfg yesterday a war that asked for a guard to do this and he was offering 2g.
I reported it because I don’t support this but if anet is not willing to reply then I guess it is allowed.

It’s still not an exploit. You certainly have no justification for reporting people for it.

It’ll be interesting to see how they fix this one. As I understand it to make things not reflect they use “unblockable” but that’d also prevent the use of Focus5/Shelter for guard, or Sword5 on war. So I imagine they wouldn’t want to do that.

So will they actually take the time to fix the way reflects work and prevent any further abuse?

Will they figure out some terrain changes to prevent putting the reflects up on the wall?

The way I see it this is no worse than the FGS abuse, clever idea that’s pretty clearly unintended and trivializes an encounter. The sad part though is lupi is the best encounter in the game IMO.

My opinion: walling Lupi is just as lame, trivializes the encounter. Nothing wrong with lame if you want to sell the path as efficient as possible.

Honestly if you’re a warrior and you have to pay someone to solo lupi for you so you can sell the path you really should feel ashamed. That’s embarrassing completely undignified. The unfortunate thing is someone with that little sense of shame likely is completely unphased by their own cringe-worthy behavior.

I know who I am, do you know who you are?

We all know where this leads, Lupicus will not be reflectable and the encounter will be ruined as all past anti-reflect tweaks can be held as a pattern by now.

Whether you support the tactic or not does not justify it to be exploitative… And as far as selling a path goes, Anet does not care in so far as you do not complain about getting ripped off by a seller that does not pay.

It’ll be interesting to see how they fix this one.

It’s really not going to be interesting to see how they fix this one: unreflectable projectiles, the Malrona and many others treatment.

I was under the impression that for those “fixes” they tagged the ability “unblockable” meaning sword5 for warrior, guard focus5, shelter, etc wouldn’t block the attack either. That just wouldn’t be right on Lupi as those are the only real solid ways to avoid taking damage from that attack because the red circles aren’t able to give clear indications.

Instead of making the projectiles unblockable, I would rather have the originate from somewhere else in the room, making it impossible to mass reflect. Let’s say for example just falling from the sky or some kitten.

I agree, but at the same time I can’t help but feel that continually removing the ability to reflect things is pretty kitten lame. They just need to rework reflects to not be able to do massive damage.

Thinking about it though, something they could do, is give him a reflect himself during that attack, so all attacks are reflected back to him, then back off him for the 2 total and landing on all of us still, it’d render reflects pointless but still allow blocking and projectile destruction… still not an ideal fix IMO though.

Reflect is a skill.
You are not using anyting in an unintended way.

The only unintended part (but totally legit) is stacking.

If they make projectile unreflectable they could start deleting PvE and turning it into SAB…..nothing else than 1 is allowed….

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Just lower the height of the wall behind lupi enough to where to reflection there can’t happen.

Jerus. They don’t have the manpower and quite frankly, the willpower to pursure other fixes. This will be most likely suffer the lazy Malrona treatment with no thought of the consequences that might create for solo/group situations to other skills.

If they wanted to be real kittens they could make his health reset when walled like he does when he is pushed into doors occasionally

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t it possible to simply change the balance between his skills damage and stats?
As far as I know, reflect damage is calculated with the skill’s base damage and the power/prec/ferocity (amen) of the player reflecting. If Anet brings down the base damage on all of Lupi’s skills and gives him more power (the stat) to compensate, it would only reduce the damage from reflects?

Reflecting an enemy projectile uses that enemy’s power stat for damage calculation.

My bad then :/
But it uses the player’s precision/ferocity, right? I’m sure I’ve read that somewhere…

Reflect damage is based on enemies power, players precision, crit damage and damage modifiers. So ferocity does have an effect.
