Don’t misconstrue this as a “power” complaint, e.g. about ascended gear, this is purely about aesthetics.

I think some exotics look better than most legendaries and judging by the number of people with 8000+ achievement points without a single legendary, I think it is quite telling of their quality relative to cost.

Shouldn’t it behoove the developers to make them more appealing?

I think map completion and all of the other ridiculous grinding/farming you have to do to even create the weapon, let alone find/buy a precusor entitles you to something really, really awesome.

A unicorn spewing shortbow and rainbow ejaculating staff should be more of an april fools joke than weapons people spend weeks-months obtaining.

/my two cents

It is impossible to just “make something appealing”.

What is beautiful to you is hideous to me.

Ok, then prove to me that the dearth of legendaries 1 year into the game is somehow indicative of most of the population of gw2 being satisfied with how legendaries look.

If most people are indeed happy with the way they look, then so be it. That is the objective notion of a successful design.

I personally think the rainbow staff is quite classy myself. Not OTT in terms of effects, and a pretty cool reference, as things go.

At the end of the day, aesthetics are a matter of personal taste. What’s one man’s junk is another man’s treasure and all that.

Another thing could be that people don’t want to get the Legendaries because of the amount of ‘grind’ it entails. They’re taking a step in the right direction making per-cursors available in a guaranteed means, but all in all, I’d say the process of getting a Legendary is pretty uninspired.

As long as the next set of Legendaries provides a different aesthetic, I don’t see the problem.

I have to believe that most people don’t even care what they look like, they just want the “prestige” of the weapons. Myself, I love how Sunrise looks, but Frostfang and Howler I mostly got for the stat advantages they’ll provide later. The fact that one breathes ice and the other makes one of the game’s most obnoxious repetitive sounds on loop if you switch it out sometimes is just a bonus.

Some people like them, some don’t. Personaly, i think the dreamer is awesome. Not everyone wants this dark themed stuff.

Also, the legendary effects bugs out all the time, and they are soulbound on equip. Thats the main reasons some people wont get them i believe

i love my ejaculating rainbow staff, so i’m a satisfied legendary customer.
the only gripe is on how long it took to have a precursor, anything else it was fairly easier.

I’m on 8000+ with no legendary.

While I would like to have and own a legendary the means of acquiring one, at least at this point in time, is in short, stupid.

Precursors for example are obtained through blind luck OR by accumulating a huge amount of cash by doing things like TP Flipping or grinding cof p1, which I do not care for.

You have your legendary? Congratulations, it was your choice, that is your reward. I sit on 8000+ AP with no legendary, that was my choice.

A warrior, a guardian, and an elementalist walk into an open field…
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”

IMO, its like they created the greatswords and then gave up; the rest of the legendaries are pretty lame.

I like some of the legendaries but i don’t think they’re spectacular and definitely not worth the time investment. Each to their own i suppose.

Bifrost and Juggernaut are both really cool. If my main was a class that used either of those weapons I would have made a legendary by now.

Instead I play a thief, ankitten ot a fan of Incinerator, so I’m holding out until they make a dagger I like.

I have Kudzu because no other longbow turns your enemies into Sylvari, and Infinite Light because Bolt was cool when everyone and their mother didn’t have it.

In my opinion, their looks don’t justify the headache of obtaining them. Not saying they look bad, just that the looks and effort to get them are wildly disproportionate.

Well said. It’s all taste vs. effort in the end. I play a Ranger main and I don’t like either of the bows. It’s too bad there isn’t a masculine bow. Fortunately for all of us, ArenaNet have released TONS of weapon skins, most of which I adore. We have choices and in the end, it’s much cheaper for me to get a weapon I feel I must have because I am not a fan of the Legendaries that are out now. Maybe that will change, but it’s not hampering my love of this game one iota if I never find a Legendary I like.

Personally I love The Dreamer. I’m tempted to get that as my first legendary even though I don’t use shortbow often, just because it shoots unicorns. Yes it’s ridiculous but that’s what makes it great. The idea of shooting unicorns at people from a bow…it’s too strange, too silly and too original to pass up.

As for the Bifrost it’s either one of the most popular legendaries on my server or one of the most noticeable because I seem to see it everywhere, that and the great swords.

You might not like rainbows and unicorns on your weapons, but other people do. Same as some people want fiery armor and other people want elegant, floaty armor and others want platemail. It’s a matter of personal preference and no one’s right or wrong about it.

I do think they could improve the situation by having one dark/sinister/serious legendary and one bright/fun one for each weapon type so that everyone can choose without being tied down to particular weapons, but I don’t think the lack of legendaries is down to not enough people liking the current skin.

Remember that the majority of players aren’t hardcore farmers, so for many even if they’ve been playing since launch they haven’t had time to get everything they need for a legendary yet. I like a lot of the skins and I’ve picked my first 3 (The Dreamer, Kudzu and Rodgort) but I’ve barely even scratched the surface of gathering materials and haven’t seriously tried. That will come later/over time.
