Hehe try grinding for Karma on a Thief…
2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 rsi from shortbow clusterbombs :-(
Thanks for your post. I have stated everything you’ve stated in the past… I’m glad people are actually now starting to realize what I saw a few months back.
I hope we get more posts like this so ArenaNet can wake up and give the community what they want.

well we could try to convince them to make heartseeker into an aoe atack to mix it up a bit

I think for every 10 posts like these, there will be a thousand posts saying how wrong you are and what a terrible person/player you are. A lot of us provided input and it fell on deaf ears. The combat/dungeon mechanics are what got me. Obviously then we had a ANET respond to posts such as “Please make dungeons harder”.
As I have stated before, this is the most boring/lackluster game in the most beautifully conceived setting of any game that I’ve played. It’s gorgeous, but lord is it boring.

i’m a little late to the party but i wanted experience more of the game and hold out until this patch went live to see where things were headed.
gw2 has tons of potential, is a decent f2p game but not worth the cash and time investment currently. hopefully they can create a long term win/win situation sooner than later.

I’m not sure they know what segment of their community they want to focus on.
“The whole thing” is a poor answer in most cases, and in this case so is the fickle segment that’s just going to up and leave anyway once they run out of numbers to collect.

Man, it was definitely worth the monetary investment even at launch. The time investment was perfectly reasonable too.
Now that time investment is looking to be heading FAR out of hand.
I think the criticisms miss what’s really up. Because a truly great game could have all those elements.
For me the tipping point was when I got to Straits of Devastation, and found 3 identical zones full of identical mobs with no context, and zone design that’s just annoying. If it weren’t for the other things (dungeons, pvp, wvw), it’d be an awful game.
But crafting is outrageously easy and it gets you xp too. It’s not that it’s hard to get recipes, it’s that it’s too easy so nothing is profitable.
The combat system, sure I get what’s being said. But my characters in other games, if you watched my hands, they were actually rather repetitive, if you had a decent rotation. It’s not the buttons you press, but rather the fun you have while pressing them.
If you’re not enjoying the game, it’s cuz the “fun” part is missing.
why do people even “grind” in this game ??
go PvP or WvW after you have 100% map.
legendaries are sad…. so sad….

yeah…. some people play too much! they have like 600-800h…
i mean…
and then they complain.
maybe the “GAME” is not meant for their style of play..
well, they must account for something because anet broke their promess to give this crowd a new grind…

i should have been clearer.
yes it was definately worth the initial purchase and as a f2p game but not so much with what i spent on other things. i know they want and need money, and players (like myself) are willing to spend money, but i don’t see players (or myself) spending cash for the long run with things as is.

Yeah I have like 1500h on my first Guild Wars account, and that’s a massive amount of time lol
People were impatient waiting for new content. It was going to happen, already said flat out it would happen, but they HAD TO HAVE NAO so now we get this crap.
exactly.
mmo players play way more than anet anticipated
they had to use the WoW / D3 solution; gear grind redoing the
same content over and over again.
well, for me, there is still tons of content
you hit the nail on the head when you said the time investment is getting out of hand. I don’t see myself playing this game for very much longer in it’s current state. Grind for gear to not be the weakest link in my group? Sorry, too familiar. This is what I was trying to get away from.
At least there are some good games/dlc’s coming out this month.

I have no problem with a time investment, so long as it’s my own skill that’s improving and not just my numbers vs their numbers.
Interested in a DOTA2 invite? I have extras.

And even after two weeks of that it becomes very boring. I LOVED WvW for a while but now it’s nothing but the same thing over and over.

I only played WvW to get monthly tasks, and eventually tokens for legendary part. WvW is okay, but I don’t care enough it for long run. Though solo raiding supply lines & bases is fun with ranger.
98% of my 6-16 hour days in Tyria is spent in PVE.
Switched Anet to Square E and haven’t regretted it even once.

This is kind of how I’ve been feeling. The game has many amazing elements and ANet is amazing in some ways, but then the flip side is there’s this certain boredom that creeps up and ANet has it’s not so great side too.
I also find the dungeons sort of lackluster even when the fights are marginally interesting. Trash pulls are boring. The loot is boring. There’s no oomph. There’s never a feeling of omg I can’t believe we survived that since downed state/recover/run back make any battle you don’t own an attrition exercise. Dunno. Something is lacking.
People were impatient waiting for new content. It was going to happen, already said flat out it would happen, but they HAD TO HAVE NAO so now we get this crap.
It’s true, there’s always a swarm that joins and new MMO and just blazes to max level then screams about how bored they are till the dev’s panic and well… here we are.
I mean, look at all the content in this game that was available from day 1, and it wasn’t enough. Apparently none of this game’s content exists unless it’s level 80.

Well, going back to feeding cows in low-level areas after beating Zhaitan isn’t too heroic. Usually this is where fantasy stories end: hero beats the bad guy, now he will go back to farming or whatever peaceful lifestyle he led. The End. No story covers what happens afterwards (unless another bad guy shows up), because what happens next is boring, and nobody cares. Same here: nobody cares about going to low-level areas after they faced greater challenges.

Hey you must have missed the memo, legendaries are now future proof, grind now so when the next tier hits you don’t need to grind again.
