There no such things as pve end game any more it die with WoW’s super job raids. PvP is the true end game for every online game (all online games even single player games). Even in sandbox games pvp is king or has the power to last longer then the pve version.

Main : Jski Imaginary ELE (Necromancer)
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)

IMO, u’ve got 25 dungeon paths, and 8 story paths.
u’ve got fractals, a different kind of dungeon that scales in difficulty,
u’ve got world bosses like wurm and teq that u can spawn with a guild if u want to do it with ur own group
u’ve got wvw & pvp

endgame is not an issue imo….

Endgame means difficult content with rewards to match. We have nothing of the sort in GW2.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

Actually the problem is they DID give rewards, you get piles of loot for everything you do. In fact so many rewards they became essentially worthless.

The problem is not enough rewards, the problem is that they thought it was a good idea to make all items from a generic uninteresting pool. You may literally only see the one yellow you got one time during your play time, but who cares? Since they’re all uninteresting and randomly generated the fact your unique yellow is a norn spear of the cleric is no more interesting than if it were a charr carrion spear.

No the problem is not that there aren’t rewards, but that the rewards are boring.

If you mention anything like “harder content”, you get assaulted by players who equate it with WoW. Guild Wars 1 had harder content that did not introduce a gear grind. Liadri was also an example of it – although it was solo content, not group. But hey, keep those straw-man arguments a-coming! It is simply disgraceful that this MMO has (almost) nothing to offer players in PvE who have learned how to play the game and still seek challenge.

And the problem with Liadri, which did cater to the hardcore / vets / challenge seekers – was the players that couldn’t beat her. They complained on the forum about how hard she was. I didn’t beat her, but I didn’t complain either. Instead I just thought “run an alt that can or will beat her in the future”. Come on, even in LS, LS we’re talking about here!. Where people were complaining on not being able to beat the bosses.

Eeeh, I never bothered with Liadri. There’s a difference between “challenge” and “computer should just say it’s cheating”. She required specific builds, some of which were exploitative, and instant death is a cheap way to include ‘challenge’ in a fight.
Kudos to those with the twitch and the patience, but ANet’s romantic liaisons with one-hit KO effects is irritating to the point of boring. And the punishment for losing was a huge wait with equipment damage. Not good for establishing a learning curve.

The Mordy-draggy fight was.. rough, but I managed to do it without getting completely downed. That fight felt challenging enough, partially because I had time to recover after a mistake. It was still annoying at kitten, though. :P

As for actual “endgame” content, that’s a tough one. It’s completely tied to the notion of rewards and what new things we can get for playing. If the rewards are guaranteed, the content won’t last long, but if it’s tied to RNG, it’s not fair to the players.

Many alts; handle it!

Every time this thread shows up on the main page, I get this song stuck in my head.

I don’t know about “end game content”…

How about any content at all?

I dunno bout the rest of you, but I came to this game to escape the typical MMO-style grinder endgame. I was disgusted enough by the introduction of ascended gear; I don’t need an actual treadmill to start going.

And don’t get me started on the way other MMOs have to bribe people to raid with the best gear being only available there – it’s almost as if raiding isn’t something most people would choose to do for fun.

And finally, give us some good rewards for participating in the game and not just from investing in the gem store. You’re fixing the minipet system? Great! Now put some minis on the dungeon vendors or link them to achievements. Coming out with a new armor skin? Make it a reward for something that takes some dedication.

Mini liadri, Mini panda, Mini Dolyak, Mini Llama
pvp reward set

Resident Disgruntled, Coffee-drinking Charr.
Zarin Mistcloak(THF) Valkyrie Mistblade(WAR) Kossori Mistwalker(REV) Durendal Mistward(GRD)
I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.

You were intended to do at level 80, what you were doing the whole time that you leveled, with the exception of leveling another character, doing something all together different, or achievement hunting. If you did not enjoy the leveling process, and only played to get to max level to start getting to the “good” stuff, you had the wrong expectations for this game.

That doesn’t make a lot of sense. 1-80 is basically just exploring and doing events as you run into them. Maybe some WvW and PvP if you’re that way inclined. Level 80 content is more along the lines of dungeons, fractals and cosmetic progression.

I don’t like the way the word ‘intended’ is used in these forums. kitten what anyone thought was a good idea at the time of development, as players we get to suggest otherwise if it’s not to our liking.

If that was how you wanted to level, that was your choice. I was doing fractals on a level 30 thief, I didn’t have to wait for 80 to do that. As you also mentioned, you can do WvW and sPvP. You can also do dungeons as you level, you don’t have to wait until you are 80, that you do, is your choice.

And to your comment about suggesting otherwise if it’s not to your liking, why would you start playing a game that advertises all of this, and then want to change it because you didn’t like it? Especially when there are plenty of other games out there that place more of an emphasis on max level content. That’s like going to Subway and telling them that they should be selling hamburgers, when you could just go to a burger joint that you like.

why do you care so much about what other people do.

Even if you remove raid from say Wow, that dont’ mean GW2 all of a sudden is a better game.

I can enjoy my game time not raiding at all in Wow. Maybe you are the one that care too much other people is in shiny gear and you are not.

It isn’t a ‘live and let live’ situation between people who want raiding and gear progression and those who don’t. One being put into the game destroys the viability and merit of the other desired play style.

You ignore gear progression in WoW, really? I can see ignoring raiding. But not gear progression. I bet you grind your heroic dungeons like everybody else. Because you have to. Or your pvp treadmill, whichever.

I think it is the ideology that you need to progress “as far as the other people do”.

Do you know what wow is like without raids? It’s like GW2.

Yes I grind in Wow just like I grind in GW2. I even grind more in GW2.

I can have fun just leveling new alt in Wow, just like I can in GW2. How is those people that raid bothering me. I just progress as far as I can. It’s not like I suddenly get kicked out a normal 5 man dungeon because I arn’t in raid gear. Because quite honestly, why is people in end game raid gear still doing a 5 man dungeon.
