Idk why, but I really can’t get into playing the other races aside from Norn and Human. Maybe Charr somewhat, but to me Sylvari and Asura look odd and I just can’t see myself playing them. But then I feel guilty when I create another human as an engineer instead of a charr because I feel like I’m missing out on some story line. Am I alone in this or do some of you also prefer to play the more….human races lol

It’s not that you’re unimaginative. To a lesser or greater extent, your avatar is an extension of you and so if you don’t feel right looking “non-human”, that isn’t a lack of imagination it’s just what you prefer.

I only notice my race when I’m specifically doing something related to my appearance (e.g. checking the model of my new armour).

SoE have finally been knocked off the top spot
in the list of developers I have the least faith & trust in.
Congratulations ArenaNet!

I can’t play Asura. Don’t know why, they just jive wrong with me. Am I a little disappointed I won’t see the storyline, yeah, but the only thing stopping me is me.

I’m the same way. I mainly have been playing human with sylvari mixed in every once in a while.

Asura seem like the joke race
Norn are just resized humans
The charr run animation looks wonky to me

This is why I went with the biggest Norn I could make, whats the point have having cool looking armor and weapons if you can see them. I have a couple guildies that are hoping for a race change option in the gem store because they absolutely hate what they look like as Asura.

Race change would never happen as it would totally screw with the personal story. MAYBE cosmetic changes like hair and stuff but not full race changes. Just re-roll.

If you check out the graph at the bottom of this blog: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/john-smith-on-the-state-of-the-guild-wars-2-economy/ you will see that most characters are human. Second in line are norn, but there are really way more human characters than norn. So no, you are not alone in this.

You could also consider playing an alt for 20/30 levels to try out the other story lines and leave them at that. Then you can mostly play your preferred race and still experience the story lines. I find those story lines to be the most diverse before you meet the orders.

The race only affects the story to like lvl 20 or 30, telling someone to re-roll the same class only a different race is… well I will keep it to myself so I don’t get banned.
