You can do that, playing the game will net you dailies which in turn you can get ascended trinkets for. It will get even easier if you do guild missions but you dont really have to. That leaves an ascended weapon which you can get via a drop if you opt not to craft one. I

yeah that great drop where you dont get to choose your stats but you do get to choose your weapon so you can get an extra useless greatsword to take up space in your inventory/bank. the only way to get ascended is through crafting dont even kid yourself that you can get a drop that you will like.

then get it through crafting if you dont want to gamble. Getting it through crafting involves an effort that getting through the content you’re playing anyway doesnt, Its fair those who go through the trouble should have some form of advantage. Besides to craft it its most likely playing that same content anyway.

no its not. dragonite ore does not come from dungeons. I dont do world bosses or temples and i dont want to, especially since ascended weapons and now armor have no place in open world because open world is kittening easy. Those who go through the trouble of leveling up fractals and knowing the ins and outs of every dungeon dont get kitten but those who go through the trouble of grinding for a couple of days get better stats then me just because they are fine doing what anet wants while im not. wheres the sense in that…oh wait there is none. Ascended weapons and armor were meant for one thing and that was to waste peoples time who wanted more kitten to grind for. Theres no other purpose than anet pandering to the will of (its not even the majority) a selective group that doesnt know what to do without a new shiny. And all this while anet still has only made two permanent changes: tequatl (terrible kitten) and the new ta path (not bad but still filled with gimmicks and bad ai). Thanks for giving us a grind but nothing to do after the grind…

Edit: didnt see you were trying to say that those who do things in the game that i dont do deserve better stats? that someone who doesnt just play dungeons but does casual stuff as well deserves better stats? heres a suggestion go back in time to when CJ was an innocent dev who had never tasted money or never had the trouble of keeping his players playing. He had the idea that everyone be at the same level so skill would trump stats. Then he noticed that LS wasnt doing so well and that people wanted more to do. So he broke his promise and the promise of anet and now we’re here where people are defending ascended weapons when they have no place in the game and the defense is weak at best.

You dont just get dragonite ore from bosses and temples though. also from WvW (which is except for high level fractals is the only other reason for ascended gear), guild missions (which is arent easy like the open world) and invasions.

You didnt see it because I didnt say it. I didnt say they deserve better stats, I said they deserve an advantage which in this case is they get the certainity of getting the stat combo they want while if you decide you dont want to bother with any other content except for fractals, you can do that, still get the chance to own an ascended weapon but have to deal with RNG in that the drop you get might not have the combo you want. Never did I talk about better stats.

Funny how you accuse arenanet of breaking their promise on ascended gear when they were forced to do it for people like you when they refused to play anything but the most rewarding content in the game.

Let me ask you this, now you say you only want to do fractals and perhaps dungeons. So tell me what content did you play before fractals where released? just dungeons or where you one of those who just farmed Orr all day? In any case, if they had stuck to their original vision and simply added new dynamic events all over the world for people to enjoy would you still be playing today?
