I was wondering if a five dollars price for 400 gems or what ever is equivalent to 5 dollars. Could be added for people that just wants to purchase something small like a black lion key or a dye. It would also be nice to add a dollar option for people that are shy 10 or 20 gems and they don’t want to farm for them or don’t have to gold to flip it. I know 10 or 20 gems do not take long to farm at all. But we have all been there farming for an item get excited turn it into gems to realize we are still short by a tiny bit. It would be amazing to have this option please anet.

I’m going to guess that the reason there is no $1 gems option is the fees credit cards impose on transactions. These fees eat up the profits from small charges and it’s the reason why small businesses will have a lower limit on the amount that can be charged.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Not all cards charge that fee though although I do get what your saying about the 1 dollar one. The 5 dollar one would still be nice to impliment.

It’s not the cards that charge the fee. It’s the processor. The service that a merchant uses to process the credit cards will charge a fee to use their service. It depends on the plan, but it can be a flat fee per transaction or it can be a percentage of the transaction.

While fees could be playing a role I also don’t think that the current gem packages are by accident when you look at what they typically charge for gem store items. You’re pretty much always buying more than you need if you’re going for a single item.

While this is true, at least GW2 gives you a way to recoup some of that “wasted” investment by selling the extra gems for gold. Which I find really nice.

That or saving them to offset purchasing some gems the next time.

Yup. While we don’t have the most finegrained options for buying gems, overall I do think its a fairly alright system.

Would I like to see a $5 option? Well it could be nice for a few things, but at that point I almost feel as if its easier to save up your gold and just buy the gems in game.

This seems likely. I know of several businesses in my area that either restrict credit card charges to higher amounts or charge a higher price for credit card purchases than for cash (gas stations which charge $.05 to $.10 per gallon more for credit come to mind for the latter).
