I bought it based on the “Manifesto” and what was delivered was nothing like what was contained therein. Ok it was “like” the Manifesto. Just like phlegm is “like” oysters. Same basic consistency, but not the same thing at all.

I strongly disagree, and could type up a long post about how the Manifesto was realized in full with this game, but you strike me as one of those “anti-fanboys”. You know the guys; the ones who have literally nothing better to do with their time than write pages of posts about how much they hate a game on its own forum, and will believe, despite any evidence to the contrary being presented, literally anything that shines the game in a bad light. So why waste my time?

But that’s not the point of this thread. This thread is about gameplay aspects that punish players to such extremes that, while don’t appeal to a vast majority of players, do appeal to “zomg im so uber hardcore xxx” players. This thread is about things we knew wouldn’t be in this game for three years. So this thread isn’t about Guild Wars 2, and therefore, doesn’t belong in a general discussion forum about the game.

Strange that you seem to think you are the person to dictate what is spoken about on this forum.

For myself, Beta #2 of GW2 was FAR FAR!! more fun than it is today. but the “wow generation” screamed loud an long an the game was nerfed in beta 3 to be so simple even a wow player can play it.

it is sad when my beta 2 necro could only fight 2 even con’s at once, today can fight 10 even cons at once. that is how much easier the game was made. I too miss the days of the MMO where self responsibility was king.
Hell levels were not some evil plot by the iluminarti or whatever conspiracy todays gamers call it. Nor were exp loss the end of the world, because it taught you to be smart, an learn how to play.

Not to mention durability loss an perma durability loss on gear was not so bad. it provided the crafting community with a proper economy. level loss was gotten used too very quickly an you became much better players because of it. When a weeks playtime is at risk of beign wiped out in 3-4 deaths ina r ow, you learn to play smart.

This is the problem today those things made MMO’s for a more mature playerbase, something that is drastically lacking today. Hell, even EvE Online is dumbing down their game to promote itself as a"friendly" game to the wow gen.
I was really hoping GW2 would stick to their guns an not make it so easy as it is.

Check out Eve Online, every other mmo is just hello kitty’s play time after you get used to space ships. I agree with you though, pvp has no significance if you lose nothing on death, it just adds to the mindless zergs.

Dumbing down Eve you say, how do you see that? Dust, supers, tracking titans, new heavy missile changes? None of that dumbs the game down, and not many wow fan boys can stand Eve online after they lose half their wallet in a BS loss.

If you mean CCP is creating DUST as a gateway game into Eve to add new blood, I’ll agree with you there.

Yea. It really depends on what was your first game that you really enjoyed. What was normal back then is now hardcore, and I don’t see any more hardcore games existing. I just went to a vanilla wow private server that is x1 xp rate to get nastalgic. GW2 just doesn’t have anything to offer, there’s no sense of adrenaline in this game
