Anet should keep the b2p model, except….they should also add a subscription for the hardcore players. Everything should stay the same as it is now for those who only want B2P. That includes newer content in the future.

However, if you CHOSE to pay the $15 a month subscription, then you can earn 200% more gold, karma, and laurels from anything that gives those currencies. You should also get a 40% discount on everything in the gem store at all times. And at the end of each month you should get a free Black Lion Ticket. I use the percentages to make my point; I’m sure my math isn’t right.

The idea is to avoid P2W, or the pressure that you must pay to get all the cool stuff. Instead, the mindset should be that for those who really want more content and love the game can offer a way to support a constant cash flow for Anet while being compensated with what I mentioned. That way subscribers get a little more love for their rewards, but not exclusivity.

Everybody wants more content, because this game is awesome! For the haters of subscriptions, think about all the Chinese players…the Asian market is much more open to subscription than the Western! Just imagine the profits Anet! Are you hiring?

So you want PSO2’s Premium mode? With no detriment/penalty withheld to content for even free players?

I can live with that as long as no content is locked behind premium as this game could use more support for content.

I stated this in my last post and only way it will work is if we all get equal treatment for content access whether we pay for premium status or not.

Anet is trying to avoid such pitfalls and has been for more than 10 years now.

Zeph zeph zeph. There’s already a game coming out like that it’s called Archeage. They literally want you to buy currency directly from the store for essential crafted vehicles for the purpose of advancement.

The business model is fine but still relies heavily upon retaining players and keeping the game viably populated and thus financially sustainable.

ANet needs to stop fracking with things that aren’t actually broken (look to April’s Trait System as a good example)

Adding cool and aesthetically appealing things to the in-game store would be a lot better for the health of the game then adding more content hurdles and further compartmentalization of playerbase.

ANet should not “stay the course” if it’s headed in the wrong direction. And while I applaud the much needed and LONG desired trading post improvements; such positives are quickly undermined by fundamentally deplorable game progression changes that are ruining the game’s already beleaguered replayability.

The trait changes destroyed much of the appeal for rolling new characters and created a desert out of the leveling experience of the game.

Well if they would released expansions (in stead of just adding stuff to the cash-shop like you suggest) that should be able to solve your problems. The content you want (in stead of the small additions) are in the expansions and the money is made by selling them.

I was never truly distressed about the available content as many players were within the first six months after game release because I tend to roll many alts and play though the game in a more gradual manner. I have only leveled two 80’s since launch, I’d probably have a couple of more by now but I stopped logging in after the April changes.

I’ll take free “content” over paid expansions any day of the week from the standpoint of the wallet, but the issue I am seeing is that ANet seems to be strangely focused on making the game less enjoyable for me.

The Living World idea has only served to divide up the persistent world into confusing story fragments that frankly become more of an annoying blur then compelling gameplay. In this respect, I’d prefer that content expansions were more stand alone affairs and not intermingled pockets of locked/unlocked content infesting my play-throughs.

While I may have had my ups and downs in the last 2 years of this game, and may not always agree on the changes within the game or the gem store. I have to say as a consumer and one who has tried a wide range of MMO’s (I get bored easy), Areanet has the best subscription model hands down. Thank you for respecting me as a gamer first and a consumer second. If you don’t believe me check out what Trion is doing to archeage, 15/dollars a month for patron status, and locking crafting mats behind the p2w store.

So let’s hear it for all those happy the b2p model.

there are a few things in the game i am not happy with, mostly pvp stuff, but mainly i sign this! way to go, anet!!!!!1

I’d personally like for them to stop taking things out of the store. Every time I have money to spend the item I want is gone. Literally. The gathering tools, certain weapons of popular npc’s. The daggers I wanted for my Necromancer are now gone they are the green ones with tentacles. Was going to get those and the tentacle backpack for my Necro would have looked awesome!

I agree that the limited time sales are annoying, but extensive marketing experience shows that they are the best in terms of encouraging customers to spend, so it’s not going to change, unfortunately.

That said, it’s practically guaranteed that the Biconic weapons will come back for future sales, so just keep some gems stored and ready, and an eye on the gem store.

While I do like the sales model I don’t think that Anet should stick to their guns.
The game is currently stagnant and I couldn’t care about a weapon or armor skin in a game that has little to no challenging content. Add to that, that the skins are 99% gem store and I feel that the “gun” has blown up in your hands.

Oh! And you need to spend that labor you only get while online to open loot bags. Yes, in order to get some coin, you have to spend a resource needed to do the whole farming and build house and profession stuff…on a bag….

That, alone, was reason enough for me to give up on it. The disconnects (which led to a lengthy client restart) didn’t help, either. That combat system was clunky but I might have learned to tolerate it, but not being able to harvest resources or open bags because I didn’t have enough “labor points” and having to wait minutes for more? Ugh. Horrible mechanic, especially for a game where harvesting a building is such a big selling point.

I also think they should ‘stick to their guns’.
However instead of repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot, aiming for the head would be the the wiser choice to make…. in a cut-a-long-story-short kind of manner, of course.

but must admit i’m starting to lean toward the GW1 model of simply paying for the new content (expansions)….so that you actually get that level of content.

I’ve always been in favour of it just because of the behaviour it encourages.

Subscription: Drag out content as much as you can without driving people away so that people play for as long as possible.

Convenience Microtransactions: Intentionally weaken the experience by induce just enough frustration that people will spend money to have those problems fixed.

Buy+Expansion: Make the game as enjoyable as possible so that people will want to buy the expansions when more content is introduced
