Q:
ArenaNet's Security
A:
you can’t crack an MMORPG because only the client assets are stored locally. everything from talking to npc’s to moving around on the map requires communication to and from the game server to be able to happen.
Offline games are cracked easily by simply circumnavigating the programs security measures, as all files necessary to play an offline game are stored locally, requiring no input to or from a game server in order to play
With a lot of time, effort and knowhow someone in the distant future might be able to emulate GW2 server responses to create an offline GW2 experience, but I doubt anyone has the time, willpower or reason to do so

A crack, as in pirating a copy of the game? You can’t pirate an online game where the server handles a lot of the logic. You can try by emulating the server software, but that takes a lot of effort and time.
Single player AAA games need some changed files while for mmo you basically need to create your own server which is costly, time consuming and impossible if server stuff was not leaked. And even if you got your server set up and client is working fine you prety much guaranteed to get in jail/huge fine or both.
crack an mmo (for what?)? a decent server/client system will stop that. what you probably need is either to find a way to edit the packets or get/beg for information on variables used by the client that aren’t checked and exploitable. your copy/account on guild wars 2 should be somewhat special since you won it. my slice of chocolate banana cakes says…don’t do it even if you can write your own tools, though from how the question was put up, i have my doubts.
Yea i dont see why you should crack a btp game its a 1 time cost to play it.
To Healix you total can crack a mmorpg look at all the private What Other Way servers that got shut down. ( Hint just read the capital letters, so its not impossible even tho its not practical for your wallet and your continued internet use )
You can’t crack an MMORPG like a single player game (changing a file or two) MMORPG clients connect to servers and they cannot be copied, unless someone finds the official server files, OR they write some sort of emulation software to simulate the server. Getting the server files is doable only if an employee (probably an ex-employee) manages to steal them and post them online, creating the simulation software is extremely hard and will likely result in an unstable game. It would take years and years to create a stable server emulator, and it will probably host only older versions of the game.
Seems pretty obvious.
I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before but oh well.
Thanks to everyone who answered.
