Ascended v. Exotic Trinket Set
Pixels, thanks for the work you put into your comparson charts.
If I am reading this correctly (and correct me if I am wrong) are you saying that basically:
A full set of ZerkTrinkets gives a total stat increase of 6.1 % over exotics, with a “real world” effect of increasing your damage output ever-so-slighlty below 1%
As a basic summary, would the above be correct?
PS: And if true, could one safely extrapolate from that, a rough approximate of around 3.5% to 4.0% increased “real world” damage output for a complete full set of Ascended gear that includes weapon(s) and armor?
by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game.

Just one that stands out at the moment… Crit damage is already a percent, so going from 36% to 44% is an 8% increase, not a 22.2% increase. That one field is misleading in that aspect.
By the way… thanks for that.

That may be true for specialized sets, but what about balanced builds? Going from 3 offensive/3 defensive pieces of specialized exotics to 6 pieces of ‘all stats’ gear is a much larger increase in stats.
It’s small but its not nothing. An Ascended has what about 20-25 more stats than an exotic? Maybe a bit more if you can get a def/off infusion. 2 rings, 2 earrings, backpack and amulet, looking at 150 stats or so.
Easiest way I found to look at it, is just by converting that to health. Since in theory even though you couldn’t get all vitality on the ascended gear, you could rearrange other gear/traits to make it come out to that as the end result. 1500 health is at least a couple hits from most professions that are not bursting.
I could see it turning around 1 in 10 fights perhaps. It’s nothing like the gear gaps in some previous games, but it is however growing with each new content they put out seemingly. Armor can’t be far awy.
Nice work!
…however, it’s depressing to see just how far behind I am from people that actually have time to grind out ascended stuff…

If you’re in exotics, the point is that you’re really not that far behind.

Or an entire zerg in wvw.
Also, are your computations PER attack? How many attacks can a thief squeeze in 2 seconds? Maybe you should include time in there somewhere.
And what is your ave weapon damage based on? A scepter? Can you also take out the food buffs from your chart so that we can see how it is in base? Against monsters where a zerker average damage is around 8k to 10k damage, how much will the changes be?

Sorry for the delayed response(s):
Ision: Yes, basically, depending on your defensive stats (just vit & armor), the zerker is going to get an additional .3% – 1.15% of your health bar per hit (on average).
As for the ascended armor, who knows if the stat increases will follow the same parterns as the trinkets!
VOLKON: I get what you’re saying, but I’m calculating the percentage increase, even if it is of a percentage. It may not be helpful, but it isn’t incorrect. Multiply 36% by 22.2% and add that to 36% to double-check it (or just multiply by 1.222 if ya trust me!). :o)
And I agree on your point about being in exotics, going into a dungeon, I’ll take a skilled player in full exotics over an ascended dude who can’t time his dodges! :o) Same w/ WvW.
Thibash: I’d have to double-check it, but just going by logic, the all stat increases would mean smaller real world increases spread over more stats, not sure it is better…
Leo Paul: Calculations are average damage per attack over time and are not class specific intentionally, once we start getting into scenarios there is too much variability. Yes, a thief can chain some nasty damage… if it isn’t blocked or dodged, etc.
Also, removing food and such will lower the effect of the ascended gear because of the way power and precision scale. When I first did the calcs, I just used 916, 916, 0 & 4 for my base stats and the highest “real world” increase then was .48% additional health taken and the lowest was .15%.
everybody: thanks for the responses and feedback.
