Awesome cities, mostly abandoned because all the action is in LA
I like it. The crafting areas are all very close together in the grove too.
It has always struck me as particularly strange, that the race that invented the asura gates, built the asura gates and charges for the use of asura gates doesn’t have an asura gate to every major city within it’s own city. Instead these poor devils must link to Lion’s Arch so that even their own citizens have to use it as a hub.
For a hyper intelligent race that just seems kinda dumb.
Hah, So True.
And as someone said a Mystic Forge in each city would be nice, plus some kind of racial bonuses for being in a specific city would be sweet.
a linked chat across all of the cities would be nice too
Cities should have boss mega events. Since you guys could make events in Ebonhawke, why not cities like Divinity’s Reach? Perhaps some kind of rebel events wanting to overthrow the queen or new bounty NPC in town. Would be so cool to defend our city.
Also cool to see Logan, Lord Faren and such to scram out of their comfort zone and goes like “what in the world..” then begin fighting.

It really is depressing to see Divinity’s reach abandoned like that. It used to be so lively at launch, now it’s dull and boring.
O miss most of the members of Crimson Imperium Reborn [CIR]
The guild had over 100 players and only 3 still long in representing other guilds and on different servers. I’m one of those 3…
I wish The Grove wasn’t so low in population, it is so pretty that I love to hang out there. I think some of it might be a matter of popularity though. Even closer to launch, The Grove wasn’t very crowded. Divinity’s Reach, on the other hand, was packed at launch and is still pretty busy, I still get put in overflow sometimes there.
It seems to me that the game designers intended for Lion’s Arch to be the “hub” city though, so I doubt they’d try to change that. I don’t think free ports to your character’s home city would do any harm though, and it would be really nice.
Hey guys – this will all be solved by an in game LFG tool.
/sarcasm
Maybe I’ve been wrong – perhaps mounts would solve THIS issue as folks sat around in key areas on them.
It may just be that your original statement was wrong.
Please try again.
On Tarnished Coast, while LA has more people, they’re usually running around talking to merchants, or bamfing over to the gate hub. I find the people actually socializing more in Divinity’s Reach.
Before Reddit invaded, the popular hangout tended to be the Crow’s Nest Tavern, because that’s where gw2roleplayers suggested as a common ground. It was depressingly empty the last time I visited it.
Cities were initially planned to be social hubs; it’s why ArenaNet put so much work into them. At some point though, due to whatever mysterious reasons concerning Anets time budgets or workload, a lot of social features got put on hold.
That includes but is not limited to the 30 activities that were supposed to be in GW2 at launch that would take place inside the capital cities. You can find out more about this on the link in my signature, but there’s no reason I can’t throw an additional link in this post.
Post about activities that we might eventually be able to play inside the capital cities
